Chapter 24

After spending the rest of the day in bed, it was time for dinner. When he was ready to leave, he turned to me, staring deeply into my eyes. That stare… I swore he was taking a hold of my soul, my heart, and my head in one fatal gaze. I felt like I was lost in a pit and he was the only way out.

“I’m going to go home and change. I’ll be back here in about two hours. I want you to get in your sexiest dress. That way I can fantasize during dinner about ripping it off you.”

I smiled. “I think I have just the thin’. What’s this place called?”

“It’s a surprise. You’re going to love it. When I’m in town, I always eat here at least once; it’s my favorite restaurant. I especially love the wine.”

“Okay. I’ll be ready when ya get back.”

He leaned in, gripping my hair, gently kissing me on the lips before pulling away. Once more he stared into my eyes. “Now that I’ve found you, don’t run away.”

Oh, be still my heart.

“Wild horses couldn’t drag me away.”

As soon as he was out the door, Tania beat on the door that separated our rooms. I unlocked it and she ran in. “I never thought he’d leave.” She looked at me as she plopped down on the couch, highly excited. She grabbed a piece of chocolate from off the counter. “Give me the deets. I’m dyin’ to know what happened.”

I smiled. It was like I was a little girl going to my first recital. Or maybe even back in high school with my first crush who actually liked me back! I danced around the room with my imaginary partner and could not erase that stupid smile off my face. There were feelings rushing through my body. I knew what they were. I had this feeling before, once. However, I didn’t want to admit it, but I was falling in love. That man made me feel like I never had in my life. All my years with Mike and I could not recall feeling this giddy about anything.

“It was wonderful! I can’t ever remember feelin’ this way.” I plopped down on the couch and took a deep breath, sighing as I leaned back. “I thought this whole time the moment I felt his lips on mine that I’d feel way too guilty to continue. I’m a married woman an’ kissin’ another man is a big no-no. The bible says so!”

“The moment I felt his lips on mine, desire seemed to take over my body. That’s when I realized… that was the somethin’ missin’ from Mike’s kisses. I never got that charge. This was a lot different. It’s as if my body’s been asleep for far too long. In a way, I guess it has.”

She looked surprised. “Are you sayin’ that Mike isn’t any good in bed?”

“No… well yeah… well… It’s different…a lot different.”

“That’s called gettin’ some strange. Ya think it might be better, but it’s only because you’re not used to this guy. Ten years with him an’ you’d think the same way ya do about Mike.”

I shook my head. There was no way I would ever think this man wasn’t good in bed. “No. Mike can barely go longer than fifteen minutes.”

She laughed, slapping the arm of the chair. “Oh wow… I learn so much from you. Can I use that as blackmail the next time he starts harassin’ me?”

“No! I’m serious. Corey an’ I didn’t wanna leave the bed. The only reason we are now is because we have to eat. I love the feel of him touchin’ me an’ what he does to–”

“Okay! I got the message. Wait, are you sayin’ that ya don’t always cum with Mike?”

I slowly shook my head. Sex with Mike was more about him getting satisfaction and it was hit and miss if I did. Usually, I’d get mine in the shower after he was asleep. “Not all the time. No.”

“Oh shit.” Seeing the look in my eyes and that smile on my face must have caused that terrified look on hers. “Don’t forget you’re only here for one reason. Ya wanna get pregnant, not fall in love with another man. That’d defeat your purpose of havin’ a baby with Mike.”

“I know, but ya weren’t here. This guy is the sweetest an’ he’s so charmin’. He has a hot body an’ I love the way he molds me.”

She arched a brow. “Molds you? What are you, a lump of clay?”

I laughed. It did sound kinda stupid. “No, I mean the way he dominates me in bed. He is definitely a take charge kinda man! Did ya see his hot body?”

“Who knew my sister liked to be dominated?”

“Hell, I didn’t even know it…” I smiled. “…till now. I really do an’ I love the way he says my name; A-li-ci-a.”

She shook her head. “Reel it in there, E-lyse.” She reminded me of my real name, apparently. Oh yeah. That was my name. “So, where is he takin’ ya to eat?”

“I don’t know. He said it’s his favorite restaurant an’ that they have really good wine. He wants me to wear a really sexy dress.”

“Oh. I have the best dress for you. It would totally fit this evenin’.” She jumped up and ran back through the door.

“I’m sure I can find somethin’ to wear. I’m not without sexy clothes, ya know.”

“I’ve seen you clothes, an’ they aren’t sexy. They’re all business like. Oh no…” She emerged with a dress on a hanger that she held up to her own body. “This would be perfect for ya to wear.”

I stood and my mouth dropped open. It was perfect indeed! It was a white dress with slits up the sides. The back was low, and it was definitely daring, but it was gorgeous. “You’re totally right. This is perfect.”

“I usually am right about this. Here, ya wear this an’ I guarantee he’ll keep ya in bed that much longer tonight.”

“I love it! Thank you!” I hugged her. “I can’t wait till he sees me in this. Hell, I can’t wait to see me in this!”

She hugged me, sighing. “Just remember, Lyse, don’t fall in love with him because that’d be a very lonely thing for you. To love someone that ya can’t have is like… misery.”

The tone of her voice caused me to turn and look at her questioningly. I paused getting dressed, curious. “Are you in love with someone that ya can’t have?”

“No, just the idea of lovin’ someone, I guess.”

I wasn’t sure I believed her, but I wasn’t going to force her to tell me either. “Ya should try it. It’s actually quite nice.” I squealed and rushed off to get dressed for dinner.

“I know.” She slowly walked back to her room.

I only wish I’d pushed her for the truth. It might’ve saved a lot of heartaches.
