Chapter one - I owe it all to heartbreak

Alexandria thought she had everything a great job and a great husband and a great big ole house. Turns out that was a lie. That’s how she found herself sitting in their bar El Championes with her best friend Talia at two in the afternoon on a Wednesday. The day her marriage ended.

” Shh sweetie don’t cry he doesn’t deserve your tears you can do so much better. I always said you can do better but then again he is mega rich so there’s that. Ooh at least you can take all his money now,” Talia held her smoothing her hair
” I just don’t understand why he would cheat on me. I am a good bloody wife and am pretty. I also always used to pretend to laugh at his stupid jokes that were totally shity. I obey him and do whatever he wants even when it’s stupid. But nope suddenly four years of marriage means nothing to him,”
” I know I know he is an idiot remind me to clobber him when I see or do you want me to send Jeremy to do this,”
” No I will handle it I need to get back to work I will see you later,”
Alexandria walked back to the penthouse where her company was currently chasing a new client to hold one of the biggest parties of the year the all black ball. If she could get this event, then she could afford not to work for years. But the boss of the company was a real asshole like her husband. Immediately she reached the office her assistant jumped at her.
” Hi boss,” said Mandy
“Mandy?” asked Alexandria
“I found a way to get the black ball event. But you’re not going to like it,” commented Mandy
” How?” asked Alexandria
” So turns out the playboy billionaire Aaron Westwood is the one that decides who holds the party and you just happen to be his type brunette, green eyes and beautiful,” responded Mandy
” Hell no still getting over the last client I had to schmooze. He was a complete jerk,” argued Alexandria
” You have to I have set up a meeting for next week Tuesday at Sicily restaurant. The time of the meeting is seven o clock,” said Mandy
” Fine, Alexandria started to walk off. ” Oh, also Michael has been calling the whole day says you aren’t answering his calls and he sent flowers,” said Mandy
Alexandria walked off and went into her office. She spent the rest of the afternoon working on tenders till ten pm. She started to get a headache ” I think it’s time for me to go home,” she said to no one in particular. Just as she was about to leave she got a call from Michael. She immediately sent it to voicemail. She didn’t have the energy
” Baby is that how you want to play this,” Michael stood in her office doorway looking at her reject his call. Alexandria felt a pang as she saw him standing in the doorway. He looked gorgeous as always. He had this way of always looking put together it was one of the things that she loved about him.
“Yes, that’s how I want to play this,” she responded
” What are you doing here?” she asked Michael.
” I came to talk to you because you haven’t been home in two days why?” asked Michael
” How dare you ask me that’’ shouted Alexandria
“What have I done?” asked Michael. He tucked in his shirt and waited for her response. He was so calm like he was waiting for her to tell him about her day.
Alexandria lost all control and threw a vase at the wall near the door. It missed Michael is head by a few inches.
” You cheated on me with that harlot Sarah. The one you said was just a work mate. I had come to your firm to surprise you for our anniversary and I saw you with her acting like she is your wife even kissing her. I left and since then I have been watching you. I have proof. I don’t know how you could do this to me to us. Is it because we have been trying and I haven’t given you a baby,” she started to cry. Michael was speechless. He didn’t know what to say. He moved to hold her but she shrugged him off.
” Baby I am so sorry I made a mistake. It won’t happen again. But then again you know what my family is like. My father has given me two half-brothers. You knew what you were signing up for a trophy husband who could have other girls if he wanted. I am sure your dad did it too once at least,”
“You pig! I can’t believe you. How did I not see what an asshole you are. How long have you been seeing her?” asked Alexandria
” For two years,” replied Michael

Alexandria got crazy again. She walked up to him and slapped him right across the face. ” I want a divorce,” she said. She didn’t want to know anything else about his affair. She knew that the details would change nothing. She pushed past him in the doorway and left. Michael watched her walk away. He thought to himself damn crazy never looked so good. She wore a white pencil dress with red strappy heels. Alexandria got in the elevator and went down to the basement. She was still so angry that she couldn’t stop shaking. She managed to calm herself down. She got out her keys, unlocked her car and put her things in the boot. She couldn’t think she didn’t want to go home or to Talia is house she drove around for hours and ended up at a hotel owned by her daddy. She went up to the suite she used to stay in and slept there on a Wednesday evening at ten p.m. She lay down on the bed and stared around the room. She knew her daddy had designed it for her because he had good taste. It was a penthouse suite. The walls were the colour of red velvet with gold trim. Marble floors everywhere that gave the room a glossy and elegant feeling. She had a large living room, two bedrooms and a large master bath. she was in this beautiful penthouse on the 38th floor with city lights as her backdrop. All she could think of was Michael is betrayal. She screamed and screamed and cried. She was broken by betrayal and lies. .
