Chapter 1 finding Abigail
I was six years old when my parents got buttercup for me. She was tan as sand and had a white star at the top of her head. Her dark brown main rand down to the side of her body. My parents never allowed me to ride her because of how young she was.
I lived in a wood house which was up on a mountains. It was a 35 minute, walk to the town. I wasn't allowed to walk to the town without my parents.
My mother had gold, silky hair. Her skin was light, with freckles on both cheeks. My father was also white. With dark brown hair and green eyes.
As a six-year-old, I never understood how both of my parents were white, and I was black. What my parents had told me was, I was an orphanage and they adopted me when I was six. apparently my mother had a stomach problem and couldn't have kids.
One morning, my father was chopping wood on the side of our house, As I watched my mother make peanut butter sandwiches in the kitchen. My parents worked really hard so I can have a happy life. mind the fact that we didn't have much money.
My mother worked in a small bakery up by the town. As for my father, he chops wood and sells them in the winter.
"Mamma." I say looking in her big blue eyes.
"How come you don't look like me?"
"Sit my beautiful darling."
Waching my mother take my soft brown hands. She polls me on her lap, as I wach her stroke my dark black hair.
"My baby, you know I will always be your mother even if we don't have the same skintone, hair or even same eye color. I will always love you as if you were my own." As I Gave my mama a shy nod.
She was right, thats why she adopted me for a reason. I never went to public school because it was to expensive for my family to afford. My mother homeschooled me until I graduated.
