Chapter 9: The Waldorf Astoria

Chapter 9: The Waldorf Astoria

Detective Collins ran out into the street in a panic. Where is a policeman when you need him? He held the mobile phone up to the light, squinting. Shit! It figures they don’t have fingerprints…

He ducked into a corner shop, waived his badge, borrowed a phone, and called Alex.

“What happened to you?”

“I was jumped. I found one of them.”

“One of who?”

“Never mind. Can you unlock a phone?” Collins was still figuring out who he can trust. Probably Alex, but Victor? Does he know? Does he talk to them as well?

“Sure, but I have more bad news: Your bar fight is now second-degree murder; the guy in ICU had kidney failure. I suppose we’ll no longer have problems with budget and warrants.”

Collins froze. What will they do? To me? To the brain of this guy? Who can I trust? No one will believe this…

--O--

Howard was staring out at the view from the 20th floor when she knocked. Maria squealed as he opened the door, “Oh, Baby! I didn’t know you were so rich! Que fantastica!”

“I am going to be your girlfriend anytime you are in town! I have a very sexy friend: maybe we invite her to come next time.”

“I’d like that. I can’t promise it will be very often, though.”

Maria was already headed for the bar and shedding clothes. “You ordered Jamaican food? Wow! It is so spicy.”

“Yeah. Seems I can hardly taste normal food anymore. I’m glad you like it as well.”

They feasted, drank, played. Maria went online and pleasured him on the camera for a dozen horny viewers, earning what to her was good money in tips. She told him stories of her childhood. He was vague about his.

They talked about Mexico. “Oh, yes! I have seen the pyramids in Chichen Itza and Tulum. It was spectacular. And after a long, hot day, they had coconuts in the freezer.”

Maria squealed, “Yes! And they open them with a machete”

“And they hand you a straw and rum!”

“Si! Bueno! I love that!” Her eyes sparkled.

“I used to want to travel. See the world. Now, I realize you can see these things without visiting, I would go again, to see it through your eyes. If I could arrange it, would you come with me?”

“I will keep a bag packed, baby! Nothing but sexy swimsuits.”

He seemed distracted. “What is it, honey?”

“I’m afraid I will have to go soon. You are welcome to stay here. The room is paid up all weekend.”

“Why do you do this to me, baby?”

“I really enjoy our time together, but …”

Just then, Maria’s phone rang, “It is probably a client. I will not answer till later.”

“No, no. I’m not in that big a hurry. Go ahead, I’ll clean up the dishes. As I said, I have to go soon.”

“You don’t mind? Most men get jealous.”

Howard smiled and nodded.

Crystal “I have a great boyfriend. You are so understanding!” She walked toward the balcony, “Hello, this is Crystal. What is your name, baby?”

The voice on the other side spoke, “My name is Frank. Tell him I want to talk to him.”
