Prologue

Skye knew he was racing towards the end of a cliff, but he had no choice but to keep running. Was it even necessary to question why? Skye had always been treated like a criminal, but this time it was official. His tears streamed down with the sweat on his face. Everything from the bleeding gash across his chest down to the the throbbing pain in his legs reminded him of the inevitable death that was upon him.

"Could this really be happening?" He sobbed as his breaths grew heavier.

He already knew that no one had cared about him before he was a fugitive. Now, only the wind was going to dry his tears away. So, at this point, he had to accept that he was completely alone. Skye was getting closer to his demise -the end of the cliff. He could feel his heart knocking against his chest from the inside.

'This really is the end.' Skye knew his thoughts were true, for only a dead man would be foolish enough to jump off a cliff knowing the legends of the past;

'It started long ago, on a day forever lost in time, when the worlds nuclear weapons had desecrated the entire earth. Within seconds, Trillions of people perished into nuclear energy without so much as a trace. But those were the lucky ones. The ones who survived the explosion had witnessed the rise of new and powerful creatures... They arose from the earth and with monstrous powers, they had nearly pushed the entire human race to extinction. In desperation, the remaining humans gathered all the living people they could and used the last of their powers to lift their land high into the sky. Ever since then, the humans were saved and forever separated from the horrors that awaited them below...'

"All until today." Skye thought.

It felt almost like time was moving more slowly as Skye approached the end of the cliff.

'If I jump, I might die down there... B-But if I stay here I will die for certain.'

He was out of time. Skye didn't have so much as a second to think any further. And so, with his resolve, Skye had forcefully shut his eyes and took one last leap off everything he had ever known. He was now at the mercy of the pitch black clouds below.
