Chapter 27

Jake waited on the couch of Sara's apartment. He had thought about this moment for weeks now, and finally decided what he was going to do.

Sara walked towards him, Rebecca in her arms, and Jake stood up, turning around to face her.

"Marry me." he said.

"What?" Sara asked.

"Marry me." he repeated, getting down on one knee.

Sara gasped as he pulled a small, black box out of his pocket.

"Sara," Jake began. "I have been in love with you since the moment I met you. And I promise to love and protect you and Rebecca for the rest of my life. Will you marry me?"

A tear slipped down Sara's cheek. "Yes." she responded.

He stood up, carefully putting the ring on her finger. He looked at his new fianceé and daughter. This was what he would always want. The three of them, always together. He would love and protect them for the rest of his life.

He kissed Sara once, still being careful of Rebecca, who was also smiling up at the two of them.

"When are we going to tell Emily?" Sara asked, breaking the silence.

"Not for now, we should wait until this whole thing with Jennifer is over." Jake responded.

Sara nodded in agreement. "I should go put Rebecca back in her crib, she's already asleep."

As she walked away into the nursery, Jake thought more about Jennifer. He wouldn't let her come near Sara or his daughter. None of them knew how dangerous Jennifer was, though he had a strong feeling that she had regained her memories. He didn't know the reason why he had such a strong suspicion, it was almost as though he already though they had an unexplainable connection, but he couldn't figure out how or why....
