Season II Chapter 17: Consequences

Donte’s POV

I can’t believe everything’s been so bad today, it can’t get any worse.

I understand why Romaine decided to kick me off of the team, but I’m really sad. He’s right though; I should’ve told him. I could’ve asked for his help to save Shante. I’ve kept my secret from them since day 1, and I’ve been lying to them.

I didn’t know how to react exactly when he was shouting at me; he’s never been that mad at me before. He’s like my bestfriend... and I betrayed him. I betrayed everyone. I don’t belong there. Now I have to save Shante and my mom all on my own.

I was too distracted on my way home to even think about using my speed; and I was too sad anyway, so I wouldn’t have been in the mood. I ended up walking all the way home. It sounds bad, but I honestly didn’t realize until I reached there.

When I saw my house it was taped off, for some weird reason. I walked around to the back door, and I started getting a weird, dark feeling.

I opened the door, and a terrible smell hit me, it reminded me of blood in a way.

It was already dark outside, so I couldn’t see anything without the lights on.

I flipped the switch and the whole room lit up. I saw... I saw blood.. I think. Yeah to be honest, I don’t know what I saw; it looked a bit.. much, for blood. And where would it have come from anyway?

Before I had time to question anything else, my worst nightmare appeared right behind me; I could just feel him.

I turned around, and I saw Black Zero. He stared into face. My knees suddenly started shaking, along with the rest of me. I couldn’t see his face through his mask, but he looked really mad. He was also grumbling.

Before I could even do anything, Black Zero held my neck with his hand and squeezed it so tight around it. He raised me off of the ground, with just that one hand. He just kept going and going, until he finally spoke.

"So, you thought you could tell them and get away with it did you?" he asked

“” I could barely breathe

"I see you’ve stumbled upon my little, artwork.”

“What are you talking about?”

"This" he moved my body around in the air, showing me the rest of the room

“What is all this?”

"All that is left, of your beloved mother."

“What do you mean?”

"Oh, you insolent child. Your mother, is no more. I have made work of her blood."

“Why would you do this?”

"Child, you are nothing but a pawn, to be used for my purpose; all others mean nothing to me."

“But why did you kill my mom!”

"Let’s just say, it’s a bit of encouragement for you, to carry out your future tasks."

I suddenly got so mad, I started throwing my hands at him, trying to get him to let go. He threw me onto the ground and stepped closer.

"I have a new task for you; complete it, and your sister might not meet the same fate as your mother." he said

“Don’t hurt her, please! I’ll do anything.” I begged

"You will face off against the team on Saturday, and eliminate them"

“Wait, n-no. I-I can’t!”

"Keep the life of your sister, close in mind."

“Alright alright. I’ll..I’ll do it.”

"They now think they have the advantage over me, but those 4 won’t be the wiser."

I didn’t get a chance to say anything else before he sped off.

I was completely frozen, even after he was gone I was still shaking. I wanted to warn Romaine and the others, but they probably wouldn’t trust me. I wouldn’t want to risk anything happening to Shante anyway.

I guess...I guess now I have to fight them.

I leaned back and laid on the floor. The smell of the blood rushed over me. Tears ran down my face.

Why was all of this happening to me? What am I supposed to do?
