Smoke

James’ POV

*Knock, knock, knock*

I hope he isn’t still sleeping. I thought to myself as I brushed my hand through my hair. I wonder if the new girl likes my hair? Oh, the new girl...

I was pulled from my thoughts as the front door creaked open. A zombie like Rehen opened the door and I was shocked. I didn’t know how bad he was.

“You okay?” I asked hearing the concern in my voice.

“Yeah-cough-just a bit tired.” Rehen replied.

He walked me into his house and to his room where I had been billions of times.

We sat on his bed, making sure to shut his bedroom door, and I spilled everything to him.

“I’ve just met the most beautiful girl in the world! No, the whole galaxy! Anytime I see her my palms get sweaty and my feet trip up and I can’t move. I just stand there looking like a total idiot!”

“What?”

“There is a new girl in class,” I said taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out, “and I have a huge crush on her.”

Celeste’s POV
“Class, this is your new student, Celeste.” Is all I heard as I walked into the classroom. I stood next to the teacher as I smiled shyly towards the ground.

What am I doing! I’m not shy. Why do I feel like this. This isn’t ri-

I looked up to see a boy with the bluest eyes I have ever seen. Suddenly I felt my face heat up as I blushed.

I must of done something wrong, because he jerked his head down to his notebook and everyone was staring at me.

The teacher was about to sit me next to the blue eyed boy, which I didn’t want to do because I thought he was embarrassed by me, when the teacher moved me next to a cute ripped guy.

I almost would of liked him if it weren’t for his flirty attitude. He was staring just below my neck and I started feeling very uncomfortable. I wanted to slap his sly smirk right off of his face.

The only thing that stopped me was when I caught the blue eyed boy glancing at me.

In math class I caught the blue eyed boy, who I now knew was called James, sneaking quick glances throughout class.

I also saw the hot guy, Jake, staring at me, not trying to hide it like James. I could see the strong desire in his eyes as he looked me up and down.

No way was I falling for this ripped cheater.

After class, I swung my bag over my shoulder and headed out of the classroom.

When I got outside, I saw James heading into an old, dusty red, pick-up truck. I couldn’t get his eyes out of my head all day.

My aunt wasn’t here yet, so I decided to wait.

I stoped at the brick side wall of the school and set my bag on the floor. I slid against the wall and sat on the floor.

It was starting to get really late, so I was getting worried. Did she get in a wreck?! I decided that I should call her, maybe she forgot what time to pick me up...

“Aw man, dead.” I mumbled to myself.

When I was putting my phone back, I started to smell smoke. My first instinct was that there was a fire I need to help everyone. But when I looked up, I saw Jake smoking in front of me.

“Could you please do that somewhere else? It burns my nose.” I said to him.

“Aw come on, baby. You know you want me. Try some.” He replied, making me want to gag.

He handed me the cigarette, and I was about to throw it at him and yell to leave me alone, when a teacher came up to us.

“I know you’re new, but you should know that there is no smoking on school grounds.” She said shacking her head. “I’m afraid I have to give you a detention.”

I was shocked to say the least. Did she not just see Jake? He was smoking just before me! And I wasn’t even smoking.

“But he-”

“Sorry dear, no excuses.”

I saw Jake behind the teacher shrugging and I could feel heat flooding my face.

Once the teacher left, I stood up and yelled out to Jake, “Seriously! If you want me to like you, you could of at least stood up for me!”

He shrugged again and came uncomfortably close to me. He put his hand beside my head and put one of his feet in between my legs. His head was inches from my own, and he was staring at my full lips.

I was resisting the urge to punch him and run, knowing that he was an athlete, and could easily catch up to me. Then I resisted the urge to kiss him. Although he was a jerk, he was hot and popular. After battling my feelings, I only felt fear as his foot slid closer and closer to the wall behind me.

He must of seen the fear in my eyes, because he put his mouth right next to my ear and whispered, “I would never do anything I knew you didn’t want. But soon, your true feelings about me will appear, and you will be begging me to do everything to you.” After finishing, he backed away, put his hands in his pants’ pockets, and slowly walked away.

I suddenly felt shocked, excited, disgusted, lustful, terrified, and longing all at the same time, if that’s possible.

After thinking for a while, a small car horn pulled me back to reality.

It was my aunt.

I got into her car and she said that she was so sorry, that she tried to text me, and that her car had died so she had to get it jumped.

By the time I got home, I was exhausted and so I went upstairs to my room. I plugged my phone in and laid down on my bed. After a little while I got a text on my phone.

“Unknown number...” I mumbled tiredly to myself.

I carefully opened the text and read it out loud.

“Hello. This is James. Don’t think I am a creep, my friend, your cousin, gave me your number...”

The blue eyed boy!!! Wait a minute... my cousin?

I ran across the hall to my cousin’s room. When I saw him, he was asleep in his bed. I grabbed one of his tennis shoes from his floor and threw it at him, hitting him in the stomach and waking him up.

“OWW! What was that for?” He said rubbing his stomach where the shoe had hit him.

“Why did you give James my number!?” I screamed back at him.

“He’s my best friend! I had to!”

“UGHHH! Learn to say no! You ruin everything, Rehen!”
