Rita leaned into Ted as they strolled away, pausing to look into his eyes. “What is it Ted, about this chaos thing? I’m confused.”
Ted didn’t allow his gaze to move from her face. “You are good for me, more than you know, ’cause…” He looked away, embarrassed.
She reached up and tilted his head back to see his discomfort. “What?”
“Cause my feelin’s for ya, honey, are um, so strong in me.” He paused to collect his thought. “You, my dear, dear, precious one. You keep me going. I don’t know how to handle all this…, without you, especially when I get…”
She nodded. “Me too, you know. My love for you keeps me going, especially when you get…, yeah, I know. I have such a deep respect for how the Lord grabs you like He does. He stammered at her in a low, husky voice that she hadn’t heard before. “Say it ’gain, just for me.”
“What? Which part?”
His thick deep voice drew her to only inches from his face. “The, ‘I love you’, part.”
“I do. I love you.” She ended her response by pouring her lips into his, holding there as he held her with a grip that molded their bodies into one. She waited but a moment, wanting to say it for him again and again, then followed his lead, responding with her own embrace. Time moved away from them.
