In the damp darkness, Audrey shook. She curled her knees to her chest and pressed her back against the cold, concrete wall. She didn’t know how much time had passed since she had been abducted. Hours? Days? She couldn’t tell. The only thing she knew was that she needed water. Her tongue was enlarged and pasty and her throat felt like sandpaper. Her hands and ankles were bound tightly with duct tape and a piece of duct tape sealed her eyes shut, though at the crevice of her nose, she was able to see a glimmer of light. Complaining that she had to go to the bathroom had resulted in her captor planting a swift kick to her abdomen, knocking her to the ground; so now Audrey sat quietly in the darkness, trying not to whimper. She prayed someone would find her before it was too late.
