It’s been about a week since we’ve gone to the store. Everything has been going well other than being stuck inside all the time.
We are laying down on the couch watching a movie. My head is resting on his chest when all of a sudden the doorbell rings. I jump and move off of Andrew and he gets up going to open the door.
I get up following behind him and hide behind while he opens the door. I peak out seeing that the man from the store is standing there. I come out from behind and smile a shy smile. Andrew welcomes him and lets him in.
We walk back into the living room and Andrew leaves to get a beer for himself and Wayde and a water for me. When he comes back he sits down next to me and begins a conversation with Wayde. I listen for a little bit and here them discussing business and get bored so I turn my attention to the tv which has been left on.
After about 10 minutes Andrew and Wayde get up heading to his office saying he needs to work on something with Wayde. Sitting on the couch bored I get up going to the back door and open it. An alarm rings and Andrew comes running down the stairs.
“Edlynn, are you okay?” Andrew quickly says looking around to make sure I was safe.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Really alarms on the door?” I say frustrated. I try to push past him to go to my room but Andrews’ hand stops me.
“Edlynn come on. You know it was just to protect you.” He says looking at me worried the and I pull my hand from his grip rushing upstairs into my room. I close and lock the door behind me.
“Edlynn, please, let me explain. You know I care about you and it was to protect you.” I just ignore him and sit on the floor with my back against the door.
Finally, after about 5 minutes he sighs and I can hear him walking away. I sigh thinking about what had just happened.
I know he was trying to protect me but I don’t need him to have alarms on the doors. Frustrated I go into the connected bathroom and over to the shower. I turn the water on warm and wait for it to heat up.
Once the waters warm I undress and step into the shower. I hear footsteps coming from the other side of the bathroom door and panic rushes through my entire body.
There’s a knock on the door and it’s slowly cracked open. A head pops through and I gasp at the sight of Andrew.
“I’m sorry. Edlynn can we talk after you are done?” He rushes out after pulling his head out of the door.
“Yeah just let me finish.” I rush out wanting him to leave me alone. He leaves and I finish up taking a shower and getting dressed into leggings and a white, light, sweater. I walk out of the bathroom not expecting Andrew to be sitting on my bed there waiting for me.
“Edlynn please sit I really need to talk to you.” He says carefully moving over so I can sit next to him. Slowly, I sit next to him and he turns to face me. “I’m sorry about the alarms on the door but they really are there to keep you safe. I have to go on a business trip and my friend Wayde is going to stay here with you. I put the alarms on the door to make it easier for him to keep you safe. Edlynn please don’t hate me for trying to protect you.” He says sounding serious and sincere.
I paused taking all that he said in. He is leaving, and he’s leaving me alone with some guy I barely know? Panic runs through at the thought of being stuck here alone with someone I don’t know.
“H-how long will you be gone?” I mumble out looking down at my lap.
He takes my hand in his and gives it a gentle squeeze. “A week. I’m sorry princess but there are some things for work I really need to take care of.” He gently says as his thumb rubs over the back of my hand.
“W-when do you leave?” I stutter looking up at him.
“I have to leave early in the morning. Most likely before you’re awake.” He says softly. “I’ll make sure to call you while I’m gone. Here.” He says handing me a phone. I stare at it for a few moments then give him a small, sad, smile.
“Thank you, Andrew,” I whisper hugging him.
“No problem. Now let’s head downstairs and have some dinner.” He says softly getting up and offering me his hand. I take it and get up following him downstairs to the kitchen.
Wayde goes into the kitchen talking with Andrew while Andrew is cooking and I set the table for the three of us.
Andrew comes into the room setting spaghetti down on the table and we take our seats. I sit next to Andrew and Wayde sits across from us.
We begin eating have small conversations mostly just between Andrew and Wayde though. I keep my eyes down at my plate or my lap most of the time feeling nervous around Wayde and being stuck with him for a week. Andrew puts his hand on my thigh softly rubbing it with his thumb and my nerves calm down a little bit.
I don’t want Wayde staying here but I understand why Andrew wants him here. He’s worried something could happen to me and he wants Wayde here to protect me.
After dinner, we settle down in the living room watching a movie. I cuddle up to Andrew while Wayde sits on one of the armchairs. Andrew picks a suspenseful action-filled movie. Partway through the movie, I doze off in Andrews’ arms.
“Oh, sweetheart. You thought you could get Andrew to take you away from me and protect you. No!” He growls standing over me while I sit on my knees on the ground. My body shudders and trembles at his voice.
“You are mine and always be mine no matter what. You can’t escape me Edlynn.” He chuckles as he grabs a chunk of my hair pulling me up to my feet and out the door.
“E-eric!” I shriek as his grip on my hair hurts and tears flood my eyes and drop down my cheeks.
“Shut up before you end up regretting it.” His deep voice rumbles through the room. He drags me to his bed and throws me on it. He gets on top of me and starts putting his hands all over me.
I jump awake screaming and crying. I sit up and try to calm myself down. I look over and don’t see Andrew so I assume he left already. I look over at the clock and it said it was 6 am meaning that Andrew had left. His flight is at 6:15 so he left around 4 in the morning.
I decide to grab the phone he got me and call him before he boards the plane. I turn on the phone going to his number. I click on his name and let the phone ring. It continues to ring before the voicemail comes up. I end the call and a few stray tears fall down my face.
I wipe the tears away getting up and ready for the day that’s ahead of me. It’s been about a week since we’ve gone to the store. Everything has been going well other than being stuck inside all the time.
