Summary

Can the team find the killer who murders young women before he finishes his task and vanishes? In a quiet tourist area, a young woman is given a lift and then stalked. She is then murdered along with her mother. She is the first victim. The police later find a murderer is preying on vulnerable young women, murdering them and stealing a body part each time. Doctor Darrell Defoe, an ex-marine and now an FBI profiler and Doctor Kate Masters a forensic scientist search for the killer and find danger and romance along the way. Detective Raymond Chase leads the search but he must confront his own dark secrets from his past during the investigation. The killer is not whom he seems at first. Twists and turns and red herrings intrigue the reader until the truth is uncovered. If you liked Silence of the lambs you will love this book.

Prologue

Night had fallen, and the window was lit by a single lamp. Shadows were enveloping the room, blurring her angles as she stood with her back to the window. The moon outlined her figure, obscuring all but its silhouette; only allowing his vivid imagination to fill in the details. She came to the window and drew the drapes close, forbidding him that last surreptitious look at her.

He shrugged and smiled. He could be patient. ‘Soon my love and that beauty of yours will all be mine,’ he whispered softly to himself and left the observing place he had made in the meadow flowers in the garden.
