Chapter 3

After telling Jenny about my past, she seemed distant and whenever I talked to her she didn't pay much attention. She even gave me irrelevant answers, so I asked her what's wrong with her.

"Nothing is wrong. I'm totally fine." She said.

"Don't lie Jenny. We have been friends for almost five years now. I know when you are lying."

"Okay, fine, I'll tell you. I just don't want you to think that I'm not supporting you because I'll always have your back, okay?"

"Okay, Jenny, I know. Don't worry about it. Just tell me."

"Okay, so UMM… You told me that you were framed for your best friend's murder and you were the only person besides her in that house right?"

"Yeah, that's exactly what I said."

"Then, what and who will help you catch the real murderer? I just don't understand how you will catch someone after five years of the crime. It's hard... Impossible even because you don't really know who it can be..."

"I know that it's almost impossible, but I have to try for Mia's sake. She died for no reason and up till this moment, no one even tried to find out who did it. they just said it was me because I was in the house with her, and I have someone in mind, actually. Someone I suspect killed her."

She looked at me with disbelief and said "and who is that?"

"I think Edward might have done it. I don't know what his motive is, but I think he had a pretty good chance when I left the room. He was her neighbor, and he could see us from his bedroom window. Also, there were some problems between the two of them during the last two months before her death. They both didn't tell me what's wrong, but Mia said she discovered something horrible about him and wanted to make sure of it before telling me. And I don't believe It's that simple for him to tell me that he believes me! It's so weird, I don't know." I tell her while looking out the window that I have seen Edward from the day before in his house.

"Hmm... I think you have a point there, but how can you make sure that he did it?"

"I don't know. Edward has always been so smart, so I don't think I can make him say anything he doesn't want to say. I guess I will have to look for clues whenever we talk about her and I also need to go back to Mia's house and picture the crime scene again."

"And how will you do that? I mean getting in Mia's house."

"I will have to sneak in or befriend the people living there...if there is someone living there."

"Okay, I'm coming with you whenever you decide to go there, and don't try to argue," she said looking at me with determination that told me this is not up to discussion. She WILL be coming with me if I like it or not.

"Okay, fine. I was thinking of going Thursday night so be prepared. We will try sneaking in to just get it over with without waiting for those people to trust us because it may take a while and I don't want to waste any more time... Again, IF there is someone living in that house."

The rest of the day went by until the evening. When we started preparing dinner, we heard a knock on the door, and I went to open it and found Edward... he is here uninvited and unannounced...

I try to mask my irritation and tell him to come in with a huge smile on my face.

We are supposed to be friends again, so I can't do anything other than smile and hug him tightly...

...

...

For now at least.

When Jenny saw that it's him, she told me to go talk with him, and she would do the rest in the kitchen.

So, I reluctantly walked up to him in the living room with so much irritation and anger... I didn't want to deal with him today...ugh!

When I reached the living room, I stood in a spot that I know he wouldn't be able to see me in and took a deep breath and plastered a fake smile on my face...

Edward and I talked for a while before the conversation goes to the place I wanted it to go to from the very first word... Mia's death.

Because I was so curious why he said all those bad things to me, I asked him about exactly that...

"I know you think that it's weird I said all these horrible things when I knew it wasn't you who killed Mia, but what you don't know is that I had to... You were the only one with her that night and as you might know, Mia and I were not on the best terms, so if I said it wasn't you, which I wasn't sure about, I would be the next suspect... And I'm pretty sure that I didn't kill her, so it had to be you." He said.

"WHAT THE F***? You made it seem like it was me who had killed her? You sacrificed me to make sure you will be free!" I feel so much anger right now and I'm sure my face is turning into the color of a tomato too. I'm so pissed off. What was that? is that a normal thing everybody does? Throw your best friend under the f***ing bus to save your own skin... WTF...
