Chapter 20

Jensen’s POV

After an eleven-hour flight and a lot of time to think I was ready to get this shit done. Jacob was waiting at the airport for me when I arrived. “Is Mike and Trevor waiting at the penthouse?” I asked as I climbed into the car.

“Yeah. Most of the men are at the warehouse cleaning up.” I sat back and watched out the window as the city lights flew by.

“Is there any word on Jordan yet?” Jacob shook his head.

“No. We watched the surveillance video. Jensen, we saw them take him. I don’t know why, but I can only assume that it is to find out where Lynn is.” I was starting to grow angrier if Joseph finds out where she is I won’t be able to get to her in time.

I pulled my phone out and called Dillion. “Dillion you need to keep and eye out. We think that they took Jordan to try and find out where Lynn is.” I heard the worry in his voice when he spoke.

“You don’t think Jordan will talk do you?” I really had no idea if he would or not.

“I don’t know Dillion, but I am sure they will torture him until he does talk. Just keep an eye out and don’t let Lynn go around without you.” He said okay then hung up. We pulled up to the penthouse and went into the house. Mike and Trevor were waiting in my office for me with some of the men. “Alright boys, this is what we know. Joseph’s men attacked and killed everyone I had here except for two men. One was Jordan, the man I left in charge here. They took him and we believe will try to find out where Lynn is by any and all means. We can’t let this happen.” Everyone nodded in agreement.

“So what is the plan, Jensen?” Mike asked.

I walked over to my desk and pulled out the file I had on Joseph. I opened it and pulled out the map and pictures of his safe house. “This is Joseph’s safe house. I am sure this is where they have Jordan. I want to put a team in the building next to it for a few days to watch for activity. As soon as we have confirmation that Joseph is there with Jordan we will move.” Trevor looked up at me.

“I want to be one of the men on the team. I fucked up with Catherine, I need to help with Lynn. I won’t let that happen again.” I nodded at him.

“I want you there. It will be you, Jacob and one other man. You can choose who else you want.” He nodded and I sat down at the desk. I wanted to clear the air with Mike. I needed to tell him the reason why I left before the funeral and why I had so much hate for so long. I asked everyone to leave except Mike.

Once everyone was gone Mike sat down in the chair in front of me. “What’s up, Jensen?” I sighed and started to talk.

“Mike I want to clear the air with you. We have been friends for as long as I can remember and I hate that we haven’t been close since Catherine’s death.” He watched me and nodded.

“I agree. I have never understood why you left the way you did. I tried to understand, but after a few months I gave up.” That hurt. I never realized how much damage I had done when I left. I had just assumed that Mike had understood and just let me do my thing.

“I left the way I did because the doctor told me something about Catherine and I couldn’t handle it. I flew off the deep end and I didn’t want to drag you down with me.” I saw Mike’s eyes widen with curiosity.

“What did he tell you?”

Flashback

I stood staring at her lifeless body on the exam table. The Catherine I knew was gone and all that was left was this empty shell. “Why did you leave me like this?” I asked under my breath. My heart ached as I took hold of her cold hand and placed it on my cheek. What I wouldn’t give to take her place or even just to hold her one more time. I was lost in the moment when I heard someone behind me. I drew my gun and turned quickly with tears in my eyes.

“It’s just me Jensen, Dr. Kegan.” I looked at him and then put my gun away.

“Sorry, doc. Can’t be too careful. What was it that you wanted to talk to me about?” He walked over to me handed me a medical form. I looked down at it and my eyes got huge and I felt the anger in me coming out. “What the fuck? She was pregnant? Did she know?” The doctor took a step back.

“I don’t believe she did. She was only four or five weeks along. I am so sorry for your loss. I will give you a minute.” I looked down at her again and all I felt was hate. I couldn’t stay here now, I can’t deal with this shit.

End Flashback

“She was pregnant with my child. The doctor told me the night before the funeral and I just couldn’t handle it.” Mike stood up and walked over to me. He placed his hand on my shoulder.

“I am so sorry Jensen. Why wouldn’t you tell me?” I shrugged my shoulders.

“I don’t know man. I was in a really bad place when I found out about the baby. I hated her for leaving me alone already and then I hated her for taking our child with her. I never wanted to relive anything like that ever again, so I just went cold. Then Lynn came back into my life, something just changed. I can’t let anything happen to her, I won’t let anything happen to her.” Mike looked at me and nodded.

“We are cool now and I promise we won’t let this happen again.” I nodded. A since of relief washed over me.

“Thanks for understanding. I really need you by my side on this. Now let’s get to work.” He nodded back at me and we started talking out our plan of attack. I was glad to have him back on my side and now I could finally move on. I would never forget Catherine, but I needed to move on with my life and save the woman that I was falling for.

Joseph’s POV

The scream of pain coming from the man in front of me was like music to my ears. He was a very stubborn man, but I could see him starting to break. I watch as my man continued to beat the man as blood started to pour from his nose. I waved at my man to stop and walked over to him. “Now where is she?” The man looked up at me, one eye was swollen shut and his nose was broken.

“I will never tell you. You might as well kill me.” He spit out and I laughed.

“You will tell me what I want to know sooner or later.” I motioned for my man to go back to his torture.

I would find her and kill Jensen. He thinks he can double-cross me, so he has to pay the price. A few hours later I walked back into the basement where I was keeping the man we had taken, I think his name was Jordan. I didn’t really care what his name was. All I cared about was breaking him so I could go and get what belonged to me. My man had done a real number on him already so I decided to see if he was ready to talk. I walked over to him, he was chained to the wall and looked like he was barely able to hold himself up. His face was covered in blood and he was missing some teeth now. He was nodding in and out of consciousness, so I took hold of his face and made him look at me.

“Hey, are you ready to tell me where Lynn is?” He stared through his one open eye at me then started to laugh. I could feel my anger now and let loose. I punched him over and over in the face then started punching him in the ribs until I heard a crack. He wasn’t laughing anymore. “You think this is funny. I want what belongs to me. Now tell me where she is.” He spit blood out of his mouth at me.

“Never.” I punched him again then grabbed some wire cutters off the table next to us. I grabbed his left hand and took one of his fingers in my hand. I could feel him shaking as I placed the finger in between the blades of the wire cutters.

“Tell me what I want to know!” I hollered out at him. When he didn’t say anything I closed the blades around his finger and heard the bone break and felt the blood squirt everywhere. The man screamed out as I grabbed another finger.

“Okay, please just stop.” I released his hand and looked back at him.

“Where is she?” He looked down then spoke.

“She is in Rome. She has friends out there.”

“What are their names?” I hissed at him.

“I only know the first names Cornelius and Delphina, but I think they are somewhere on the outskirts of the city. That’s all I know.” I smiled and slapped his face lightly.

“See that wasn’t that hard now was it.” I turned and walked towards the stairs to the door. Before I went up I gave my man the signal and heard the gunshot as I walked up the stairs. I am coming for you Lynn, I thought to myself. When I exited the basement my second in command, Lane was waiting for me. “You’re going to Rome. I want Lynn now. Kill whoever she is with and don’t leave any witnesses. Don’t screw this up.” He nodded and headed to get ready. I walked into my office and looked at the picture of Lynn. I could almost feel her in my arms already. “Soon my love, soon.”
