Chapter 6

Lynn’s POV

The door flung open and I heard. “What the fuck is she doing here?” When I turned around, I saw the man who had let me go two years ago but he wasn’t the same. He held a gun pointed right at me with anger in his eyes. He stood in the doorway his eyes fixed on me as Mike stood up and moved in front of me. I started to shake and cry, he truly looked at me like he was going to kill me.

“Jensen, look bro Lynn needs our help.” This enraged Jensen more and he started to shake.

“Why the fuck would I help her? Her brother is why Cat is dead. Or have you forgotten?” He hissed at Mike, continuing to point the gun at me and Mike. Mike’s eyes flashed with rage and his body tensed.

“How dare you say that! There is not a day that goes by that I don’t think about her and how I couldn’t save her. So fuck you.” The two men stood there staring at each other then finally Jensen lowered his gun and put it away. He turned and stormed out of the house slamming the door behind him. Mike looked at Trevor and nodded and he took off after Jensen, leaving Mike and me alone.

I had now lost all control of my emotions and was crying uncontrollably. Mike turned to me with a soft look in his eyes. He knelt in front of me. “Lynn, everything will be fine. Jensen just needs to calm down. Catherine’s death was hard on him but he will come around.” I looked at him and tried to stop crying. Then I realized Jensen was right, I should have done more to help Catherine.

“He is right. It’s my fault your sister is dead. I could have gotten her out but I didn’t want to upset my brother.” He quickly shook his head at me.

“Lynn, this is not your fault. You tried to help us, even after we killed your brother, to me that means something.” I smiled a fake smile at him, no matter what he said I knew that I could have done more. “Why don’t you go get some rest. We will talk more in the morning.” I just nodded at him and left the office. As I was walking to the stairs Trevor walked back into the house.

“Are you okay Lynn? Don’t worry about Jensen, he will come around.” I didn’t answer him but just kept walking. Everyone keeps saying he will come around but what if he doesn’t. I didn’t want to put them all in danger, and if I stayed too long they would be. I never should have come here.

I laid in my bed for what seemed like a few hours when I heard a car pull up. From my bedroom window, I could see the driveway and path to the front door. I looked out the window and saw Jensen walking towards the front door. He didn’t look as angry as he had when he left, maybe he had changed his mind. I walked back to my bed and laid back down. I pondered my options. If Jensen wouldn’t help then I would have to run again, but where would I go. My father had some connections that lived in Rome, some long time family friends. I guess it was my only other option, but I really didn’t know them or want to know them if they were involved in the family business. I finally fell asleep but I tossed and turned all night.

I awoke to yelling downstairs and then someone bursting threw my door. I was only in my panties, so I quickly covered myself with the sheet. When I looked up I saw Jensen standing in my room. I had to catch my breath as I looked up at him. He had definitely filled out a lot since I saw him two years ago, and last night he was so angry that I didn’t get a chance to really look at him. Now though, he stood in my bedroom with a black tank top on that showed his muscles off perfectly and blue faded jeans. His tattoos on his arms moved in perfect sync with his body and his hair was spiked. “Get up and get ready. You have ten minutes to be downstairs with all your stuff or you can fight off Joseph King on your own.” He turned and closed the door behind him. My heart was racing and I could feel the wetness in between my thighs. Damn, that man is hot as hell. No, stop it, Lynn. He doesn’t even like you much less want to help you. I gathered myself and got out of bed and got dressed. Within ten minutes I was dressed and packed and headed down the stairs. Luckily I didn’t have much to bring, when you are on the run you traveled light. I set my bag down next to the front door and walked into the kitchen where I heard voices. As I entered the room all eyes shifted to me and the conversation stopped.

Jensen’s POV

When I arrived the next morning to collect Lynn she wasn’t even awake yet. “Let her sleep Jensen, she has had it rough the last few weeks.” Mike stared at me in frustration.

“I told you to have her ready. I have shit I need to do if we want to get this over with quickly.” I snapped at him. I guess Mike found it funny that I was so angry because he laughed.

“Well if it is so important to get going then you go wake her up.” I stormed up the stairs and flew her door open. I stood in the doorway as she quickly set up and covered herself with the sheet. She had been lying there in only her panties, her blonde hair was a tossed mess and her eyes were on me. It caught me off guard at first but I regained my composure.

“Get up and get ready. You have ten minutes to be downstairs with all your stuff or you can fight off Joseph King on your own.” I quickly turned around and closed the door behind me.

I went back down the stairs and into the kitchen where Mike and Trevor were. As soon as I walked in they both looked up and started to laugh. This pissed me off. “Why the fuck are you two laughing?” They both quickly stopped and Mike turned to me with a grin on his face.

“Let me guess bro, she was naked in her bed.” He fucking knew she would be, that’s why he told me to go wake her up.

“You fucking asshole. Why didn’t you tell me she would be naked?” Mike started laughing again.

“I.. thought it might loosen you up. She is a looker.” Uggg! These fuckers are so immature. I quickly changed the subject.

“So do we have any sort of plan on how to handle this situation?” Mike stopped laughing and put his serious face on.

“Not yet. I figure once you get Lynn settled at the house we can come over and come up with a plan.” I nodded at him.

“Sounds like a start. It shouldn’t....” I stopped in my tracks when I saw her walk in. She really was a looker. She was wearing a green top that wrapped around her neck and showed her flat stomach, with low cut jeans and black high top sneakers. Her hair was all curled and her eyes were quickly shifting around the room as she noticed all of us staring at her.

“I... I’m ready Jensen whenever you are.” I pulled my eyes from her body and quickly answered her.

“Fine. Wait in the foyer I will be there in a minute.” She nodded and left the kitchen.

After she left the kitchen Trevor and Mike burst into laughter and sounded like a bunch of wild hyenas. “Hey Jensen, you better wipe the drool from your face.” I heard Trevor say in between gasping for air. I turned around and glared at them, what a bunch of jackasses.

“Fuck you, Trevor. Mike, I swear to god if you don’t stop laughing I am going to kick the living shit out of you.” Trevor and Mike tried to control themselves but apparently it was too hard. I stormed out yelling. “I’ll be back in an hour. Try and regain your composure before I get back.” I walked into the foyer and saw Lynn standing by the front door. I pushed past her and grabbed her bag off the ground.

“Let’s go. I don’t have all day.” She quickly followed behind me out to the car. I threw her bag in the trunk and slammed the trunk shut, which made her jump. That made me smile a little. Good, this bitch needs to be afraid of me, I had seen the look in her eyes when I was in her bedroom and it wasn’t going to happen.

We drove in silence to the safe house. I watched her out of the corner of my eye and could see her just looking down at her hands. She was nervously biting her lower lip and twirling her thumbs. I watched her expression as we pulled up to the house. She looked up and her eyes widened as we pulled up to the front door. When we came to a stop I hoped out of the car and popped the trunk. Dillion came out from the house and smiled like an idiot when Lynn got out of the car. What the fuck is up with all the men around here? Yeah, she was good looking but she looked like every other bitch out there. “When you are done eye-fucking her, grab her shit and take her to her room.” Dillion immediately stopped staring and went to the trunk as I walked in and went straight to the kitchen. I poured a drink and then walked out into the backyard.

I could hear Dillion upstairs in the bedroom with Lynn. Her bedroom looked out over the yard and her window was open. Dillion was explaining to her how things would work while she stayed with us. It was the basic stuff, she couldn’t leave the property without one of us with her, no phone and that the basement was off-limits. “Otherwise you have free range in the house. I would just avoid the boss man if you can, he can be a little moody.” He really didn’t know when to shut the fuck up. Then I heard a small laugh escape from her lips. It was actually a cute little laugh and for a moment I almost forgot that it was her and not Catherine up there.

“Hey Jensen, you got a minute?” Jacob’s voice brought me back to reality.

“I have a minute. What do you want?” Jacob took a deep breath.

“So how long do you think we are going to be here?” I glared at him with suspicion in my eyes.

“I don’t know why?” His body tensed a little and he backed away from me.

“Well Jordan, the man that we left in charge, called. Someone broke into the penthouse last night and tore it up pretty bad. Nothing was missing that anyone can tell but the place was a disaster.”

I flew into a rage and slammed my glass to the ground shattering it. “What the fuck do you mean someone broke in? I thought that Jordan was staying there?” Jacob backed away more as I started walking closer to him.

“He had to go to the warehouse for a little bit. He said he was gone for two or three hours tops. When he got back the place was destroyed.” Shit, I can’t get a break.

“Tell him to check all the security footage and then get back to me. I have to go back to Mike’s. Don’t let the princess up there out of your sight and tell Dillion to get his head out of his ass and focus on the job.” I walked past him, hitting him with my shoulder as I did, and walked to the car and went back to Mike’s. Who the hell would break into my place and destroy it? One name came to mind, Joseph King, but the more I thought about it I didn’t believe it was him. It wasn’t his style, plus he didn’t know that I knew it was him that attacked my men.

I arrived at Mike’s and went straight into his office. Trevor and him were waiting for me and were looking at some photos. “What are you guys looking at?” They looked up as I approached the desk. Trevor moved over so I could look.

“Our men sent these photos today. They are surveillance photos from the airport. They were taken today.” I looked down at the photos and realized that shit was about to go down. They were photos of Joseph King arriving in Chicago today.

“Fuck, we need to get ready. If he is here then he has to know Lynn is here.” Just then my phone rang. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at the number. I felt a wave of immediate anger rise in me as I showed the number to Mike and Trevor. It was Joseph King.
