Beast In The Woods

Running through the woods, breathing in the cents around me, everything coming back to the surface. It’s taken so long to get all those memories buried, it was all for nothing.

Logan is trying to mind link me, but I can’t let him in. I know he wants to help me through this, but I can’t let him in.

I know he’s my mate, but he can’t help me with this. Hearing rushing water, I ran towards it, not stopping until I got to small stream. Drinking some water, I collapsed next to the stream, laying my head in my paws.

What am I going to do? I want to get out of here, and never come back, but Logan and Wren wanted to stay here for the run tonight, or we would be on our way back home. Closing my eyes, a twig snapped, putting all my senses on high alert. Standing, watching my surroundings. A wolf emerged from the trees, sighing its Logan. Changing back, standing in front of him. “What are you doing here?” He changed back, coming towards me. “Checking on you of course. It took me a bit to get a hold of your cent.”

“You didn’t have to do that.” I said sitting on a rock, he sat next to me, taking my hand.

“Look Lil. I’m not going to pretend to know what happened to you when you were younger here. But that’s in the past, I’m here for you, and so is Wren. We’re your family. You can depend on us.”

Sighing, I know he’s right, they are my family. “I can’t tell you about what happened to me. Maybe one day I’ll be able to tell you about it, but that day isn’t today.” “When you’re ready, I’ll be there to listen.” “Logan there’s something I need to tell you.”

I said looking at the flowing water. “What is it?”

Taking a deep breath.

“Logan every wolf has this thing called a mate. It’s there other half, the one thing that completes them. Your mate is loyal to you, and vice versa.” “Okay. So we both have a mate out there somewhere.” “The thing is, Mira has claimed you as our mate, and so has your wolf. We’re mates Logan.” “So that’s why I feel this towards you.”

He said squeezing my hand tighter. Nodding. “Yes. Since I brought you here with us, I felt something for you as well. I just didn’t understand it. I never thought I would find my mate.” I said looking at him.

“But then you came into my life, now I feel whole.” He pulled me towards him, gently pressing his lips to mine, his kiss gentle, his lips moving against mine.

Moving back, his eyes are glowing silver, his wolf is partially in control right now.

“So what now? What happens next?” “Well… We mark each other, then we complete the mating bond.” I said not looking at him. “What does that mean? What do we have to do?” “Have you know, sex. That completes the bond.” “Oh.” He said, looking down at the stream. “Yeah.” “When does it have to happen?” “Whenever. But not while we’re here. I want to get out of here as soon as we can.” “I agree with that. I don’t like being here either.” “We should head back though.” Nodding, we both stood, and changed back, running back in the direction of the village. I told him about us, I didn’t know how he would take it, but all in all, he took it well. A lot better than thought we would have if I were him.

Getting back to the village, Logan led me to where we’re staying. I thought it would have been at the pack house, but he led us to the far end of the village to a small cottage that wasn’t here when I was younger. Changing back at the bottom of the steps. “What are we doing here?” “Staying here. They thought we would be more comfortable here.” “Well thank you for that.” I muttered to myself as we walked in.

Logan showed me to a room, upstairs. It has three rooms in it, one bathroom, a spacious living room, and a kitchen.

“This is our room.” He said opening the door.

“Our room?” I asked walking in. There’s not much to the room, a bed dresser, mirror and a nightstand.

He shrugged. “Why not? We’re mates, I figured we would share a room.” “Well, I’m not sure. Do we tell Wren about it?” “Tell Wren what?”

Turning around, Wren is standing in the doorway. “Tell me what?” “Well Logan and I are mates, he thought we would share a room while we’re here.” I said taking his hand. “What do you think about that?”

“Sure. I’m happy that you found each other. I just wish I could figure out who mine is. I can’t seem to find them here anywhere.” “Don’t worry, you will.”

“Wait, what will happen when she does find him? Will she stay here, or come home with us?” Shaking my head. “I don’t know. We’ll just have to wait and see. I hope you come back with us.”

She came forward, pulling me into her arms. “Don’t worry, I won’t be staying here. I belong with you, not here with all of these other wolves. This place isn’t mu home, you’re my home.” Smiling. “Good. I don’t think I could do this without you.” “You never have to worry about that. Now come on, dinner’s on in the mess hall. You need to eat before we go out for the big run.” “I just have to wash up. I’ll meet you both downstairs.” “Okay. Don’t take too long though.” “I won’t.”

They left, going to the bathroom; I look like crap. I shouldn’t be here, I should be back home searching for those damned wolves. They could be doing god knows what right now! And I’m here wasting my time with the wolves that made my life a living hell!

It’s all right my sweet. We both needed to come back here. Now that we have, we can go home and forget about all this. Put this place behind us.

“You are right. First thing in the morning, we’re gone.” Washing my face, I ran my fingers through my hair and I’m ready. Heading back down, Logan and Wren are both sitting on the couch waiting for me.

“Let’s go, I’m starving.” Walking out, Logan is on one side of me, and Wren is on the other.

Walking through the village, other wolves stared at us, some I know recognize me, but I’m not giving them the time of day.

“What are they looking at?”

Logan asked through the mind link.

“Me. Just ignore them. That’s what I’m doing right now. We’ll go on this run then leave.”

He nodded severing the bond, taking my hand we walked to the mess hall to get some food.

Walking into our room, going to my pack for my phone. I just hope that they have cell reception here.

“What are you doing?” Logan asked sitting on the bed. “Looking for my phone. I have to check in. I left without telling anyone at the station.”

Checking, there’s no reception. Shit. Putting it back in my bag, sitting next to him. “We still have some time before the run. Let’s have a nap, I’m beat.” “Good idea. I’m tired.” Nodding. Dinner with the rest of the pack went okay, no one came to talk to us, and at least I didn’t get the hostile stares like when we first got here.

After we got food Logan and I went for a walk in the woods, and ended back at the same stream where we were earlier, and sat there talking for a while. Then made our way back. We caught up with Wren, she’s still looking for her mate, she can’t find him and it’s driving her crazy.

Moving the blankets, Logan and I lied down; facing the small window, Logan wrapped his arms around me, holding me close against his chest.

Now that I’ve found him, I don’t want to do anything to risk losing him. After everything that has ever happened to me in my life, don’t I deserve something good to come out of it? “Hey what are you thinking in there?” Logan asked nipping at my ear. Smiling, I turned to look at him. “Just about how lucky I was to have found you in the woods like I did. There I was just saving a normal guy, not having any idea that I was looking at my mate.” He leaned down gently kissing me.

“It’s me who was the lucky one. Now I have the girl of my dreams in my arms, a family.” He kissed me again, and we settled in holding onto each other, as sleep took over me, my last thought is of the man I love. My mate.
