CHAPTER 17

“Lil it’s time to get up. We have to go into town.” Groaning, I pried my eyes open, the light hurts my eyes. Snuggling into Logan’s chest, since we marked each other, a couple weeks ago he’s been sleeping in my room with me. “Why can’t we just stay in bed all day?”

“You know Wren will come in here if we don’t get up. I don’t even know what she wants, but we have to get up.” Sighing we rolled out of bed, I grabbed some clothes and went down to the bathroom to get cleaned up. I’ve been getting calls from my boss about the wolves; everyone is getting really antsy, two more people have been killed by the wolves.

“Lil, Logan you both have ten minutes before we leave.” Wren called from down the hall. Making a quick job of washing up, I left going down to the kitchen. There’s no food ready, but there is coffee in four travel mugs. “Logan now!” “I’m coming. Calm down would you?” She glared at him, I can tell her wolf is coming to the surface.

“Don’t you tell me to calm down! Let’s go.”

Shrugging at Logan, we left.

We’re well into December now, snow has arrived, it’s made my driveway a mess, but I don’t mind it really.

It’s getting closer to Christmas, but it’s hard to be in that mood with everything that’s happening around town. It’s been weeks since we found any signs of the rogues anywhere. With animals going into hibernation they will start and get desperate for food, and hopefully they will make a mistake.

We’re on our way into town to get our new pack crest tattooed. I contacted the shop told them what’s going on, and there closing the place for us, so no one else in town sees what we’re doing.

As we’re driving, I caught that scent, I know it anywhere Blood. Pulling over, I got out of the car. “What’s going on?” Wren asked as they got out of the car.

“Take a deep breath, don’t you smell it?” “Blood.”

They all said in unison.

“We have to get out there. Wren I want you to stay here; keep an eye on the car, and the surrounding area. If you see anything then link us.” “Okay. Just be safe please. I can’t lose any of you.”

She gave us each a hug and gave Morgan a kiss.

“Don’t worry, we’ll be back soon enough. Just stay here, and be safe.” Giving her the car keys, the three of us walked into the trees until we no one could see us.

“Alright change. We have to follow the blood.” Changing, we ran off following the scent of blood. It’s getting stronger, and there’s a lot of it.

Please, oh please let my suspicion be right.

Running, then the other scent hit me, werewolves. It’s them, I know it is! Running faster, the scent got stronger, till we’re right on top of it. Stopping, I mind linked with everyone.

“It’s them, I know it is; we have to spread out, surround them. This is our chance. Move out!”

We all got into position, silently I moved forward; getting closer, I can hear there heartbeats. It’s them, I know it is. Creeping closer, I can see them through the trees. There’s something seriously wrong with them, I just can’t figure out what it is.

Then I saw it, the body lying on the ground, not moving.

“It’s the rogues. We take them out, here and now. Strike to Kill if you have to.”

Emerging from the trees, growling to get their attention. The three rogues, growled, guarding the body.

“You are found guilty of murder and treacherous acts against the humans. Step away from the body and get down on the ground!”

I tried to communicate with them, but nothing happened with them. I can start to see Logan and Morgen, approaching from behind.

“Last chance. If you can understand me, on the ground!”

They started towards me, teeth barred, ready to attack. I can see how deranged they are, there skinny and there fur is matted. No matter how hard I try, I can’t get through to them, their minds are nothing but chaos.

What has happened to make them like this?

The one in the middle charged at me, just missing me as I darted out of the way. Logan and morgen charged as they attacked me again. This isn’t going to end well. Getting into the mix, clawing at the wolf attacking Logan. Howling in pain, one of them got me from behind, dragging me off them. Pain ripping through me.

Managing to get him off me, Mira took over attacking with everything we have, snapping his neck like a twig, he collapsed to the ground. One down, two to go.

Helping Morgen, getting the one off him, as Logan got his down, lying there the life draining from his eyes.

This last one is being harder to put down.

“Stop or you will die! We can help you. Just surrender; and all this will be over.”

There’s still no response from him, it’s no use. He’s lost, just like the other two, there’s no saving him.

“Boys there’s no hope for him. There’s no humanity left in him. We have to put him down.”

Logan and Morgen started circling him, caging him in. While we stood there, staring at each other.

“I’m sorry. But it will get better. All this pain will soon be over, I promise.”

Morgen went in for the kill. He didn’t even try to fight back. It’s like he knew what was about to happen, and wanted it to happen.

With one swift movement, and a snap of his jaw, a sickening crack and it’s all over. The last of the rogue wolves that have been plaguing this town have been disposed of. The town and forest can go back to the way it was.

Whimpering, Logan nudged me with his nose.

“It’s all over now Lil. The town is safe once again. You did it. You beat them.”

Changing back, I moved the bodies, they changed back after they died. He’s right it’s all over now. Mind linking Wren, she’s safe at the car still.

“Wren there gone. Call it in. Tell them where we are; so we can get this cleaned up.”

“Are you three all right? Is Morgen all right?”

“He’s fine. Just call it in please.”

Severing the link, I sat down on the ground staring at the three bodies. I know they did horrible things, but I’m still sad about what had to happen to them. They were werewolves, part of our kind. Now there gone. I just hope that there at peace now.

“It’s over Lil.” Logan took my hand sitting next to me. Now everything can go back to normal. Wincing at the pain, that wolf got me good in the back, I can feel blood dripping down my back. The wounds will heal in time.

Sighing in relief the town will no longer have to be afraid to go outside, or walk around town. They can have their lives back. “Logan, you will marry me?” He gave me a look. “Are you asking me to marry you?” Nodding. “Yes I am. With all this being over, I want our lives to get back to normal. So what do you say?” “Well. It should be me asking you, but yes. Yes I will marry you.”

Kissing him, this so wasn’t the place to do this, but right now, with everything that has happened, I don’t care; I want something good to come out of this day. Out of this whole ordeal. The lives that were lost today, they were in pain, all I can hope is that there be at peace.

Feeling a tingling sensation, Wren pulled at the link.

“Everyone is on their way. They will be there in about fifteen. Is there anything you need?”

“No. Just stay at the car, and tell them where to go.”

Leaning against Logan we sat there and waited.

Morgen left heading back to check on Wren, so it’s just the two of us, and three dead wolves.

Just like Wren said everyone from the station showed up with everything we need. My boss at the lead.

“Excellent job here. Thank you for saving this town, both of you. I don’t know how you did this, but we are all very grateful for everything you have done for us. Let us finish up here, you go on home. You deserve it.”

Nodding. “Thank you.” Taking Logan’s hand we made our way back to the car.

“What happened out there?” Wren asked as we walked up to the car.

“It’s done. We’re going home.” Climbing into the car, we made our way home.

Back to our lives, and a new start for the four of us, our new pack, and my new family. Leaning my head against his shoulder breathing in his scent, it’s the start of our new life.

EPILUGE

Stepping out of the house, snow covering the ground. It’s been a month since we got rid of the rogues, our lives got back to normal. We built a house for Wren and Morgen on my property.

We got our pack crest tattooed on our person. Logan and I started planning our wedding, and of course Wren took over. Here we are, on the happiest day of my life; it’s perfect. Snow covering the ground, just before Christmas.

“Are you ready?” Wren asked handing me my flowers. “More than ready.” Tightening my grip on my red roses, fixing the vail covering my face. My dress is perfect. Lace sleeves, long flowing white skirt; sweetheart neckline; red roses peeking all through the skirt, and bodice.

For so long it’s just been Wren and I, now we have our mates, and this whole new life. Watching her walk down the aisle her long ruby red dress, the hem just sweeping the snow covered ground.

Stopping at the alter handing Wren my flowers, taking Logan’s hand, smiling at him. We just wanted a small intimate wedding. There’s Wren and Morgen, and Erik and his mate, and of course the minster.

“You look so beautiful.” Smiling. “You don’t look so bad yourself.”

“Shall we start?” Nodding.

The minister started talking, but all I can think about is the gorgeous man standing in front of me.

“Now the rings.” Setting his gold band on his ring finger. “I will always love you. You are my rock. Through everything that happened, and Wren kept me sane.” “Lilith I will love you to the end of time.” He said setting the ring on my finger, gold band with a rose and vines wrapping around it.

“I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

Kissing him, his lips are so soft against mine. I love this man. “Till the end of time.” He whispered against my lips, till the end of time.
