2- Unforgettable Night

"Leave us. Let us go." I declared in a strong voice, trying not to show my fear.

"Not bad, straight to the point. Well, I will make you a deal. If you do whatever I say, then both of you can go.

"In your dreams." I snapped at him. What he even think of himself? 'Whatever he says, we'll do? Never.

"Marry me." He stated and started moving towards me. His dark features were visible to me in the light. He had a small scar on his left eyebrow; a tiny and faint one- you even didn't notice it unless you got a good look at his face- but still visible.

How did he get it?

Ananya Singh... Focus. Freaking Focus. I subconsciously reminded myself of my captor's statement.

"Do you even know what you're saying?" I wiggled my wrists, which were tied to the wooden chair handles.

"Yes, I know, darling." He stepped back and leaned over the wooden teak table that was placed in the center of the room. It had various types of tools, and the bulb hanging above the table made them more clear for me to see. From screwdrivers to hammers to wrenches, all types of mechanical tools were on that table.

What does he do with them?

"I am waiting for your answer." He took a switchblade from the table and started swirling it in his hand. Then he placed his right thumb on the tip of the blade as if to check it's sharpness.

"No." I don't even need to think about the answer. It was simply no.

His lips twitched and a grin curved upon his lips. He started to swirl the blade again- and threw it in the air, towards me.

What the bloody hell?

I ducked my head down the very second it was about to cut it off.

Has he lost his mind? Who does that?

Is he trying to kill me?

There are a lot of things I still want to do! I have not met my crush yet. My inner girl rolled her eyes at my stupid statement.

The other person who had tied me down on the chair single-handedly caught the blade.

"Do you care for your friend?" He moved towards me and then crouched down so we were eye-to-eye.

"Yes," I said simply.

"So Marry me and your friend will be free." He responded, just as simply.

What? It's confirmed he has lost his mind.

My anger took over me and I spit on his face. "Are you out of your fucking mind?"

How dare he think that he would blackmail me into marrying him! Who the hell does he think he is?

He pulled out his handkerchief and wiped his saliva-covered face.

He roughly yanked my shoulder, and with the other hand, he held my chin. I tried to wiggle out of his grip, but he just tightened it.

"You bloody piece of shit... What the hell you think of yourself?" I shouted on his face. My head was spinning from his words.

"Cagna, you'll do what I want you to do." He firmly said. (Bitch)

Someone help me.

Tears began to form in my eyes.

Where have I gotten myself into?

"Aahhhh! Leave me alone." Someone shouted.

It was Riya.

"Aahhhh!" She screamed again.

The same man who caught the blade held it on her throat as tiny blood drops started to fall down from the cut.

"You fucker!" She shouted, and struggled to release her hands from their ties.

The man slapped her hard and her chair knocked over from the impact.

Shit. Shit. Shit.

He was about to kick her but stopped when he heard my voice.

"Please stop... Don't hurt her. I'll do whatever you want me to do." He smirked at me.

Is he insane?

I wanted to leave that place, that very instant.

"Good, you have two options now." He said with a smirk.

"First: You marry me and I'll not hurt your friend. Second: you leave and I hurt your friend. The choice is yours but choose fast. Your friend does not have much time." I was taken aback, and his words sent chills down my spine. All the information made my head spin, but one thought stood out the most.

Why would someone in his right state of mind marry me?

I am not even beautiful. I'm just a normal girl who fights against her family to get the education to fulfill her dream of being a doctor. A girl who has a stepmother who beats her ruthlessly and her dad remains mute and sees his daughter getting beaten up. A girl who will have a very good day when her father raises his hand to her as well.

"This is known as blackmailing," I stated. My tears constantly flowed down my cheeks.

"Of course, darling. I know I'm blackmailing you." He pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear and continued. "Now, I suggest you do the smart thing and marry me." He strode back, leaving my shoulders in an aching pain and whispered something to the other man that was not at all audible to me.

"You know what? We could go to the police." I mentally patted my back, thanking myself for a good come back.

He laughed. A booming victorious laugh that sent goosebumps rising on my arms.

"Darling... You'd need to get out of here to go to the police."

He's right.

I couldn't marry him. I didn't know what he'd do with me or even why he wanted to marry me. I don't even know him. He was just a stranger. What if he harmed me?

I couldn't risk Shreya's life. If something happened to her... I would not be able to forgive myself.

"You can't marry this stupid man Ana. You don't know anything about him. He could harm you. Please pick the second option. Ana...." Riya pleaded, pulling me out of my thoughts.

Had she gone nuts? How could I let her die when I could save her. She's my best friend... my lifeline. She was the only person I had when my mom left me alone. I couldn't risk her life. She had a bright future ahead of her. What about her dreams?

"I am not a very patient person."

"Why me?" I said between my sobs. I just wanted to know why the fuck he wanted to marry me?

"I have a simple reason." He told me. His voice was just as cool and composed as his expression.

"I wanted to marry in the near future. Then I saw you and decided you were good enough. You know, I need an heir and I think you are capable enough to give me one." He smirked at me and then moved back.

How unfair. Someone only wanted to marry me because I bleed and have the ability to create a soul.

I gulped down my saliva and licked my dry lips. The tears were flowing continuously and wetting my cheeks.

"Tick-tock, tick-tock..." His irritated voice rang in my ears.

I finally decided, and I hoped to God I wouldn't regret it.

"Fine. I'll choose the first option. I-I'll... m-marry you." I stuttered between my sobs.

"Excellent choice!" He exclaimed, with a devilish smile on his face.

"Now free us," I yelled at him

"Yeah, sure Butterfly."

Really? Butterfly. I wasn't his butterfly and I would never be his butterfly. I wanted to stop, all of this, but I knew I couldn't. I wanted to get away from this man and curl into a ball in my bed and know that this was all a damn nightmare, but I knew I couldn't.

"Now, answer me honestly. Why do you want to marry me?" I repeated the question that was making my mind restless. My sixth sense was telling me he had lied to me, that his explanation he had given was false. He had two sides.

"I told you, sweetheart." I already freaking hated when he calls me by the sweet names as if he is my damn lover.

"I know you lied to me. Tell me. Why?" I demanded.

"When the right time comes, you will figure it out yourself." Just like that, he dismissed my question.

"Ryan, lasciali." He ordered one of his men in a foreign language. As soon as I was free I jumped and hugged Riya. Thank God she was fine.

(Ryan, leave them.)

We were about to leave the place when he caught my wrist. His expensive-smelling cologne filled my nostrils. Surprisingly, his touch wasn't rough, but rather soft and warm.

He whispered in my ear, "Get ready to be my wife." 'Wife.' That single word made my knees weak.

Will he really marry me? Will he be a good husband?

"Stay away from those boys." Boys? Who? Is he referring to Abhi and Sid? But they are only my friends.

"Don't you try and run away; my men have eyes on you." That's why I felt like someone was staring at me in the club. Shit...

"And don't you dare to tell anyone about this night... or there will be consequences."

"What do you mean?" I implored the question before I could stop myself.

"Simple. If you disobey then be ready for punishments." He simply stated.

"Punishments like...?" I was scared as hell and confused by his puzzling words.

He chuckled. "You are too naive, little one. Maybe I'll be harsh on our wedding night. Maybe some spanks... or maybe I can even tell your dad about your little 'hangout' with boys." He smirked as I gasped.

No... Shit... Dad... No...

"Alright... I won't say anything to anyone about tonight. But please don't tell anything to dad."

"Good girl." Again he smirked. I desperately wanted to wipe that stupid smirk from his face.

"You can go now. See you soon, butterfly." I nodded and made my way out of that place. I wanted to leave there as fast as I could.

"Occhi su di loro." He shouted to his men before I made the exit.

(Eyes on them.)

"Why did you concede to his conditions?" Riya burst on me shortly after we were out from the hellhole.

Sighing I answered, "I didn't have any other choice." I let out a breath and wiped my tear-stained face.

"Riya, he's gone. We are safe. Forget it as if it were a nightmare. We can't do anything- and don't you dare to tell anything to anyone, not even Abhishek. Get that in your thick shell."

We reached to the boys after cleaning Shreya's wound. It was really hard to get her to loosen up.

We were on our way to my home. It was hard to get them to believe the lies. The ride was silent- no jokes, no music. I was drowning in my thoughts when Sid squeezed my hand. I looked at him.

"We have arrived at your house, Ana." I looked outside the window, and we were in front of my house.

"Bye guys. Goodnight." After waving goodbye, I stepped outside the car and looked around at my house. His words came rushing to my mind: 'My men have eyes on you.' To my surprise, men were standing at a distance with guns.

I ran into my house and went straight to my room.

I blinked and blinked again to clear my vision of the anguished tears that were coming. I retreated with tentative steps to the sidewall of the room, sliding down it. I sat there, without blinking this time.

I clasped my mouth from my right hand to refrain from crying out loud. Still, though, a sob escaped from my mouth, unknowingly.

My tears filled eyes remained downcast as I mulled and mulled about the unfortunate situation, I just let myself in.

After some time which felt like hours, I wiped my tears and changed into pajama shorts and an oversized one-direction band t-shirt.

Would he truly marry me?

Why does he want to marry me?

He's handsome and sexy too. He can get any girl.

Why me?

Does he want to take revenge on me?

I hope it's just a nightmare.

Thousands of questions were popping in my mind, and tears were streaming down my face non-stop.

I would never forget that night, would I?

The Unforgettable Night.

Subsequently, the darkness consumed me.

Beep Beep.......

I grunted and slowly opened my eyes.

"Ugh. Time to get ready for college... Well, I suppose ten more minutes wouldn't hurt." I mumbled to myself as I roll back over, yawning.

Beep Beep Beep Bee...

"I am up. Shut up, you stupid alarm." I groaned, turning off my alarm (or, in other words, throwing it somewhere in my room.)

I sat up on my bed and rubbed my eyes to make my vision clearer. Then I looked at the time on my phone: it was past 7:20.

"Shit... I am late." Professor Mrs. Khan would kill me for being late.

"You stupid alarm, can't you beep earlier?" I said, pointing my finger to my alarm clock, which was now lying at my door.

"Okay. It's not time to talk to inanimate things, it's time to get ready as soon as possible," I mumbled.

I walked into my bathroom and took a quick shower.

I put on some black skinny jeans that had a rip at the knee with a roadster blacktop. I grabbed my cream shoulder tote bag and wore my crystal silver color chain strap bracelet watch. My outfit was completed by my favorite white sneakers.

I said my goodbyes to my brother and left for college. It's been a week since that horrible, Unforgettable Night. I was glad I didn't meet him again- but until when would I have to pretend that night didn't exist and nothing happened?

I stepped onto the freshly-cut lawn and stared at the giant building that was so many yards away from me. It's breathtaking; It must be about ten stories high. The campus is so large, and there are so many buildings with a thousand windows and hundreds of doors. I was afraid the new students might have gotten lost. The college has two big sports field. The whole campus is surrounded by trees, bushes, and other plants.

I study at the University of Delhi, which is the oldest and one of the most respected universities in India. The wing I study at (the B-wing/medical wing) is considered as the science and laboratory faculty.

"Hi!!" An enthusiastic Riya chirped.

She was very happy- which implied something was fishy.

"Hey." I greeted her back.

"What happened? Why are you so happy today?" I inquired.

"Nothing." She's really a stubborn girl.

"Then what is that stupid smirk on your face? Wish to explain it?"

And then the college bell blared, scaring and annoying the shit out of me. I really hate that bell.

"I'll tell you... But now let's go to our class, otherwise, that stupid Mrs. Khan will kill us."

"Yes." I agreed.

She dragged me to the classroom, which was a beehive of activity. Some students were sitting, and some were walking around. Some were busy with their phones, and some were copying the answers last night’s assignment from their friend. Whatever they were doing, they were all getting some morning fun before Mrs. Khan came.

Mrs. Khan is our worst professor. She acts like she wants to take revenge on us. She can assassinate you with her lectures if you are late.

I threw out the wrapper to my energy bar in the bin and walked down the halls. Finding our seats, Riya and I sat patiently, waiting for the class to commence.

"I love your handbag." Riya compliments beside me. I glance over her and thank her.

Shreya (or Riya, as I like to call her) had been my best friend since kindergarten and I feel so damn lucky to have her as my friend. Not only she is the smartest woman I'd ever met, but she is also the most caring human being on this planet with short, curly, black hair, beautiful black eyes. Her gorgeous skin tone is like dark chocolate and had a small button like a nose and full plump lips.

She was wearing an off-shoulder crop top that had black and white stripes. I loved that she paired it with a cream skirt.

"I like your outfit." I grinned.

"Thanks." She smirked, and then we started gossiping as the typical women do.

"Alright, ladies and not gentlemen." Mrs. Khan announced her arrival with a clap as she entered the room.

"Today we are going to study Female Reproduction. If you are in the wrong class, please leave." She paused while pushing her brown glasses up her nose. "Or you can stay to draw the naked ladies."

The classroom filled with laughter.

"Alright, let's start class."

At that moment, I felt someone kick my seat. I turned around to see who the hell did it, and to my surprise, it was Sid. He wore a white hoodie which was imprinted with a black outline, 'Girls die for me.' I rolled my eyes at the stupid pick up line. His hairs were set smartly with the help of a gel and a mischievous smile was plastered on his face.

"Are you done checking me out?" He asked me with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes and smiled. "I don't check out dumb boys."

"Hello? I'm not dumb." He cried as if he was a two-year-old child crying for his toys.

"I never said that you are dumb. You-"

"If she's saying you are dumb, then probably are," Riya spoke up, cutting me off and winking at me. She wasn't giving a shit about her drawing.

"I hate you both." He pouted. I laughed at his remark.

"We hate you too." Riya and I spoke together, and we laughed at Sid's expressions.

Thereupon attending our classes, we all bossed towards our favorite spot.

Abhi, Sid, Riya, Asmi, Ashima, Tanya, and I all love pizza, so we made it our meeting spot.

"Where is Riya?" I asked Sid.

"She's with her lover boy. They'll come together."

"Okay, just wait a second. I need to use the restroom." I gave him a sheepish smile.

"Yep." He replied.

My phone started buzzing.

Who would call during the college hours?
