Chapter 20: Memories

The demons inside my mind were screaming. Begging to be let lose and take control. They never win against me, cause they're all in my head while I'm the devil in flesh.

"Who... Who are you?"

I didn't hear anything. I stood up and went to the bathroom. There was something different with me. I can't quite distinguish it...

I look at myself in the mirror and quickly backed away. I gasped. I knew I would eventually transition into this. I just didn't expect it to be so soon. My feathered wings were as dark as midnight. My eyes and horns the same shade as them. I can feel my claws and fangs slowly growing.

"We... Look amazing, don't we?" he whispered. My brows furrowed.

"Who are you? And... Where are you?" I heard a deep husky chuckle.

"My name is Midnight... I'm your demon." my eyes widened. Father thought me this. A voice inside your head that is your demon. You and your demon are one. Like werewolves with their wolf.

"I already heard you say my name earlier... So..." he chuckled.

"How do you feel?"

"A bit amazed and surprised... I didn't know that I would transition in a young age." I was still looking at myself in the mirror.

"Yes... Fourteen is a young age."

I try spreading my wings. They were huge and magnificent. My black feathers looked so silky.

"Can we fly?" I asked.

"Of course... I've been dying to fly!" I chuckled at his enthusiasm.

I walked to my balcony, my wings wide open. I jumped from the balcony and dived through the air. I could feel the autumn breeze blowing my hair. It felt so good to fly. This was amazing!

I looked down the wide hacienda of our family. The clouds felt so cool when you touch them. I smiled, feeling astounded.

A few hours of flying and I began to get tired. I heard my stomach growl.

I swooped down and caught a rabbit. This was enough... I was getting a bit thirsty.

"Nothing like rabbit's blood after long hours of flying." I emptied the small creature and flew back up. I went back to my room and informed my parents that I transitioned. They were anticipating this day ever since I turned thirteen.

As expected, my father was so proud that I transitioned at a young age. Some demons transition during fifteen to sixteen years old. My bestfriend, Heather, just transitioned when he turned 15 last month. He's older than me by one year.

"We can now fly and hunt together, Sandro!"

I looked at Heather's face, excitement was evident in his face and voice. I nodded at him. Midnight has been a big help in teaching me.

His demon is named, Blaze. His wings were the color of navy blue. His horns and eyes were as black as night. My wings were wider and bigger than his.

We went flying and hunting the whole afternoon. Our stomachs full of deer and rabbit blood. We couldn't drink blood of humans yet, you have to be of proper age to drink it.

I looked through the forest, trying to find my bestfriend. We just had a feast with bear blood. We were restraining ourselves to drink human blood. Heather would turn seventeen next month, while I turn sixteen in two months.

I kept looking around the forest when I saw a familiar back.

"What are you doing?"

"Sandro! You almost gave me a heart attack!"

I looked around. He was definitely hiding from something. Maybe a deer? Doing the element of surprise to catch it?

But there was no deer... No animal at all. I looked at him. He transitioned back to his human form, I did the same. I can feel his heart beating so fast. His forehead was full of sweat. I couldn't maintain eye contact.

"Something is wrong with him, Sandro... He's acting suspicious." I hear Midnight say. I agree with him. My eyes turn into slits as I scanned him.

"Look, Sandro... I'm not hiding any-" he didn't get to finish his sentence as we heard girl squeals.

I pushed some leaves and branches to see much better.

I didn't listen to Heather. I saw two girls playing on the field. They were very young. The first one looked like she was seven or eight, while the other one looked like she's just six. The field was full of butterflies and flowers. I tsked when I realized that Heather has fallen in love with one of the girls.

I shook my head. No wonder he wanted to hunt in this exact location. He was actually hunting a girl.

I looked at Heather knowingly. I waited for his explanation. He didn't say anything for a few minutes. He started talking when he saw that I was about to fly away.

"Wait! Alright, I'll talk!"

I sat back down the grass and looked at him with my bored eyes.

"You wouldn't probably understand why I like this girl... But, demons only get to love one person forever... Ever since I saw her... I kinda... Fell in love with that girl." I shook my head. I knew what he was saying. My father told me that too. Even Midnight wants me to fall in love with someone.

"Really, Heather? How old is she? Seven? Eight? And you're going to be seventeen in a few weeks... Not to mention a demon." I sounded like a hypocrite but it was true. If humans ever saw us the way we are, they'd be terrified.

"I know... I know..." he said, sounding defeated. He huffed a sigh. "Let's.. go home" I nodded at him and looked at the young girls one last time. My eyes remained on the little blonde haired girl. Her cheek were chubby and pink. Her golden hair was tied in pig tails. And her smile... It was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen.

I felt something warm in my cold chest. It slowly spread to my head and body.

At that moment, I knew that she was my other half...

I woke up, a smile was plastered on my face. The memory of when I first saw her...

Arms were wrapped on my waist. I looked at the majestic creature in my arms. She was still sound asleep. Her little snores were so cute.

I kissed her forehead and hugged her tighter. Her breasts were squishing on my side. I tried hard not to take her while she's sleeping. I bit my lip and shook my head.

She didn't know what I was capable of. She would be afraid of me. If she ever knew... I pushed away the thought. I'll do everything in my power to protect her.

"I'll never let anything happen to you, darling... Not again..." I whispered.
