Logan POV

On instinct, I raised my gun at the girl who could only be Mia Kincaid. She paused in her tracks looking toward her family in fear. “Well look who showed up to the party.”

By the look on her face, it was clear that she was thinking of running. Shaking my head I looked over at her, “I wouldn’t do that if I was you princess. You run and I’ll make sure this brother of yours doesn’t make it to see 13.”

Mia glanced over her shoulder one last time before her shoulders sunk in defeat. “Let the kids go,” Richard said, “They have nothing to do with this. I’ve told you I’ll give you whatever you want.”

Nate hit Richard in the head with the butt of his gun, “nobody asked you to speak.”

Mia let out a cry, “daddy?!?!”

Waving my gun at her I motioned her toward her family, “go join your family sweetness.”

She glared at me as she passed me but as soon as she was even with me she rushed forward sinking to her knees beside her dad trying to access the wound on his head.

Steven shook his head, “none of that now, get in line.”

I glanced over at him pointing the gun at Mia until she moved to her mother’s side. I walked forward kneeling so that I was eye level to Richard. “You know this doesn’t have to be hard. I can save your family the trauma of hearing all about your little affair, I can make this all disappear. All you have to do is give me the list of buyers you’ve been selling the artwork that you’ve been stealing out of our shipments.”

Richard frowned, “I don’t know what you are talking about. If you want money just take it. I will give you whatever you want. Please.”

“Oh so we are playing dumb now,” I said standing up. I had known he wouldn’t just give in. That would be way too easy, he had too much to lose.

Glancing over at James I nodded at him. Stepping forward he stopped in front of Joyce. “Before you left to come up here your husband had to make a quick trip back to the office didn’t he?”

I watched as both Joyce and Mia’s head snapped up looking over at Richard. He looked down at the ground, but I could see the color flood his face. James didn’t wait on anyone to acknowledge his question. “That quick trip however ended up lasting longer than he had planned. I guess you can’t give exact times to how long it will take to fuck your mistress.”

Joyce broke down in tears as Richard’s children looked shocked. Was it so hard to believe that their dad wasn’t the picture-perfect man he portrayed?

“You’re lying,” Mia said looking up.

James shrugged, “I have the video if you really want to see it...”

“Enough,” Richard shouted, “I can get you cash. Just name the amount. I have cash here in the safe, just take it and go.”

I shook my head, “it’s not about the money Kincaid. It’s the principle of the matter. You know he could have overlooked you screwing his wife but the clients and the shipments you’ve stolen from him that’s another thing altogether.”

“The list Kincade,” Nate shouted angrily, “give us the list.”

“I don’t know anything about a list, or any stolen artwork,” Richard sobbed out. “Let me talk to your boss, I’m sure this has all been a huge misunderstanding.”

I studied the family, Joyce was still crying, Harper and Seth were huddled together for support, Richard was playing the dumb card, but Mia she had a look of determination on her face as she looked over at her dad. I saw them exchange glances and I realized then that she would be his weak spot. Not his wife like we first thought. Perhaps he didn’t think we had enough evidence against him but he was wrong. James had a video of him and Dahlia. The affair was happening, I wondered if Joyce had any idea before tonight.

“I’m going to give you one more chance to tell me the truth Kincaid,” I said. “Let’s see what’s more important to you, your money, or your family.”

Richard looked up at me sobbing, “I’m telling you, you have the wrong man. I can’t give you what I don’t have!”

“Ok,” I said nodding as I took a step forward pointing my gun at Mia. “Get up.”

She looked up at me then at her dad, “Dad...”

“Leave her alone,” he shouted, “I’m the one you want. She can’t give you any information.”

I laughed, “maybe not but she will sure get your ass to talking a little bit faster.” Looking back down at Mia I tilted my head, “come on, I’d hate to have to mess up that pretty little face of yours.”

If looks could kill I would be dead, Mia glared daggers at me. She took a deep breath before she pushed herself to her feet. Twisting her long hair up in my free hand I pulled her closer to me keeping my gun on her head.

“So do you know anything about a list now Kincaid?”

He shook his head refusing to raise his eyes to his daughter, “I don’t know anything about any stolen artwork.”

I sighed, I had been told to make him cooperate by any means necessary. I could tell James was itching to shoot someone. With one nod he would take Seth out of this world forever. However, I had other plans. McGreggor wanted answers however he didn’t say he needed them tonight.

“Mia,” I whispered in her ear, “I truly thought your daddy loved you more than that.”

She struggled in my grip. “He can’t give you what he doesn’t have. I’m telling you, idiots, you have the wrong person. My dad would never cheat on my mom. He’s never stolen anything in his whole life.”

I snorted, “your poor delusional girl.”

Everyone was crying now, everyone except for Richard and Mia.

Nate stepped forward, “come on Kincaid, do you really want us to hurt Mia?”

James had made his way behind the family and was pulling Joyce up. She let out a god awful cry as he pulled her up close to his body. I looked up at him, wondering what he was doing. He was no stranger to home invasions. It was the only reason we had chosen him. His biggest flaw was he was erratic and it could sometimes leave behind fatalities.

He looked up at me as he laughed running a hand over Joyce’s breast and squeezing them. Joyce was a wreck, sobbing begging him to let her go. James laughed at me, “come on man, we can have a little fun. Look at this body, it’s clear her husband isn’t giving it to her right.”

“Let her go,” Mia screamed. “Dad, do something.”

I shook my head at James, “you know maybe Kincaid needs some time to get his list together. Is that what it is Kincaid?”

He looked up at me, “yes!” Yes, that’s right. Give me a few days and I can have everything you want.”

“Oh so now you know what list we are talking about?” Nate laughed turning toward him.

Richard didn’t answer. James pulled Joyce to stand in front of Richard. Then shoved her down in front of him. Richard reached out grabbing her hands. “I’m sorry,” he whispered.

Seth and Harper huddled together watching them. James pointed his gun down pressing it against the top of Joyce’s head. “Now tell her the truth.”

He looked up at James, “I don’t know what you want me to tell her.”

James nodded his head, “Ok.”

Harper and Seth let out a scream as James shot the gun just to the side of Joyce. Even I had jumped unprepared for what he had done. Joyce’s cries were now sobs. Her entire body was shaking.

“It’s true,” Richard screamed. “It’s true Joyce. I’m sorry. I’ve been having an affair for almost a year now.”

James shoved Joyce toward Richard and although he caught her Joyce shoved him off of her going to Seth and Harper and pulling them closer to her.

“Now Kincaide,” I said ready to get this shit over with, “the list and we can go and you and your family can handle the little matter of your infidelity.”

“It’s lies,” Mia cried out, “daddy I know you wouldn’t do anything like that.”

I laughed pulling on Mia’s hair until she cried out, “you shut up. I’m talking to your father.”

Richard tried to lunge at me but Nate caught him with his foot to Richard’s face. “So I guess you’re not giving us a list,” I said looking at Kincaid sprawled out in the floor wincing as Nate kicked him hard in the ribs.

“I don’t know about any list,” he screamed.

Mia tried to break free from me but I quickly wrapped my arm around her neck. “Stop moving Mia. This isn’t about you.”

Nate, James, and Steven all looked up at me. “Well boys, let’s give Kincaid some time to decide if he wants to give us the list, or if he wants his daughter back.”

I heard Mia gasp. “What,” Kincaid said struggling to stand up. Steven had now moved beside him and kicked his legs from under him sending him sprawling to the floor.

“Daddy,” Mia cried as he looked up at her, blood now gushing from his nose.

I shoved Mia toward Nate going to kneel at Kincaid’s side. “You call the cops and she is dead. I get any clue you are doing anything but getting this list in order I’ll mail you bits and pieces of your daughter and trust me I know how to stretch her torture out.”

Kincaid started crying, probably the only honest emotion I had seen out of him all night. “No,” he sobbed, “take me. Don’t take her. It’s me you want.”

I laughed, “I don’t know, your daughter is pretty fucking hot. I think we will have more fun with her.”

I heard a slap and turned to see Mia holding her face. Nate looked up at me, “man she spit in my fucking face.”

I growled going and pulling her from him twisting her hair in my fist to keep control of her, “get to walking little girl.”

She sent her elbow into my stomach causing me to groan out as I yanked her hair causing her to scream out. “You want me to keep their hands off of you you better get to acting right.”

“Fuck you,” she screamed at me as I drug her out the front door. James stayed inside with his gun on the others until he heard the van crank up. We had started slowly moving and when he jumped in slamming the door shut Nate put his foot to the ground sending us flying down the road.

Mia and I were in the back and if I didn’t think she would bolt and try to jump out of the moving van I would let her go. Instead, I had her partially in my lap. Her fingers nails dug into my arm painfully.

“This doesn’t have to be a bad experience for you Mia,” I whispered in her ear.

“Fuck you,” Mia hissed before she tried to jump out of my lap toward the door.

She didn’t get far, I pulled her down this time flat in my lap. “You’re going to be fun aren’t you?”
