Stubborn

Logan’s POV

I had absolutely no idea what to do with the girl sitting in my living room with her arms crossed. Clearly this wasn’t a decision I had thought through. I kept reminding myself that if her dad came through with what list I’d be set. She could be out of my hair by this afternoon. How long could it take to get a list together?

Yawning I looked down at my watch. I’d been up over 24 hours and I was exhausted. Glancing up at Mia I sighed, I couldn’t just leave her untied while I slept. She would be long gone by the time I woke up, or better yet she would have found a way to contact the police. The only phone out here was my cell and my computer was safely in my room but I couldn’t trust her to just sit on the couch and not move. My supposed guard dog Reece wasn’t anything but a big baby.

Watching her lean back I knew she must be sleepy too. Maybe if I tied her to the bed she would behave. I couldn’t help the small chuckle that escaped my lips at the thought of her tied up. Those serious eyes of hers glanced up at mine, “I’m glad you think this is funny.”

“What? This?” I shook my head, “no this isn’t funny at all. What’s funny is I’m tired and I don’t know exactly what to do with you yet.”

She sat up, “you let me go and we can both pretend this never happened. That’s exactly what you can do with me.”

“Not a chance Princess.”

She let out a huff, “this is pointless you know. My dad didn’t do any of the things you are accusing him of. You’re going to end up in prison and for what? We could go back to my parents. I could convince them to let you go for doing the right thing. I have pull with my dad, he will listen to me.”

Shaking my head I laughed at her, “good try but again no.” Walking forward I stopped in front of her, “you know I hate to be the one to break it to you but your dad isn’t a good guy Mia. He’s done everything I’ve accused him of if not more. That pedestal you put your dad on is about to come crashing down.”

Mia shook her head but I could tell she was struggling with the fact her dad might not be the man she thought he was. As a tear rolled down her cheek I sighed, “look why don’t you go take a shower, change clothes, then get some rest.”

She rolled her eyes, “yeah cause that will make me feel better.”

I sighed, “just go take a fucking shower damn it.”

“I’d hate to mess up your little patch job,” she said looking down at her knee.

“Look I don’t care what you do,” I said aggravated with her. Go Change. Don’t change it’s all the same to me but I’m about to go to sleep so I suggest you at least go take your ass to the bathroom.”

She rolled her eyes grabbing the clothes I sat beside her, “fine.”

Making her walk ahead of me we walked down the hall to the small bathroom. I had always joked that you could probably wash your hands, use the bathroom, and take a shower all at the same time. It wasn’t actually that small but it was probably smaller than anything she had ever seen. At least it was clean.

“You have ten minutes. Make the most of it, “I said shoving her in. I shook my head as I heard the door lock. If she only knew the lock was all for looks, you could twist it if you wanted but it had been broken since I bought the place.

Leaning against the wall I closed my eyes as I heard the water start up. That little shit, after all that arguings she had decided to take a bath after all. I tried to think if there was anything in that bathroom that she could use as a weapon but it was pretty harmless unless she broke my razor apart and tried to cut me. I was pretty sure I could take her without too much damage.

The window over the tub had long been painted shut and no matter how much I had tried I had been unable to ever free it. I had given up months ago. She could try if she wanted to, all she would accomplish is wearing herself out. Yawning I wondered what I had done to deserve this. Why was I the only one who had to watch her?

I had about fallen asleep standing up when I realized it had been over fifteen minutes since I had sent Mia in. “Shit,” I said before pounding on the door. “Come on princess before I bust in on you.”

Right when I thought I’d have to show her just how good the lock was on the door she threw open the door. “I’m out damn.”

Looking down at her I arched my brow. She had taken a shower, her wet hair was now twisted up on her head. The clothes I had given her fit her body loosely. This Mia didn’t look like the spoiled rich girl, this Mia looked like she could have grown up in my neighborhood.

“Are we going to stand in the hallway all day or what?”

And there she was, that spoiled princess would never be too far from the surface. Pointing down the hall I followed her, she stopped as she came to the first door. Reaching past her I opened the door to the guest room.

It wasn’t much. I had no real reason for a guest room so there wasn’t much to it. A single cast iron bed sat in the corner by the window. Its simple green quilt did nothing to dress it up. Beside the bed was a wooden nightstand with a lamp. The only other thing in the room was a dresser in the corner that sat empty.

Mia walked in the room looking from side to side. I could tell from the look on her face she was slightly mortified at the thought of having to stay the night here. Sighing I walked in behind her, “I know it’s not much but this is all I have.”

“Oh, it’s perfect, just what I would expect from someone like you.”

Someone like me, what the fuck was that supposed to mean. I watched as she went and plopped down on the bed. She crossed her arms looking up at me. “It’s not too late.” She tilted her head, “you can still do the right thing.”

Walking forward I stopped in front of her. “You wanna go home princess,” I said holding out my hand to her. Mia frowned at me nodding and I was surprised when she put her hand in mine. Not as surprised however as she was when I clicked the cuffs around her wrist and attached them to the bed.

“What the fuck!” She yelled yanking at the cuffs. “You can’t just tie me to a bed. What if I need to use the bathroom. What if I need to roll over.”

I shrugged, “later I’ll get the room ready and you can have some freedom. For now, I need to sleep and you need to sleep.”

“You don’t know what the fuck I need. I need to go home. I need to not be tied up to a bed in some strangers house.” Tears started flowing down her face, “I want to go home, Logan.”

I sighed, “I know Mia and I’m sorry. I really am but your dad can end all of this. All he has to do is get a list together. It shouldn’t take that long. One list and you can be free. I will drop you off at home myself if I have to. Trust me this isn’t what I wanted either.”

Mia shook her head turning her face away from mine. “I hate you.”

I let out a breath turning and walking out the door shutting the door behind me. I hated myself right now too. This wasn’t me. I didn’t kidnap innocent girls. Kicking my shoes off I grabbed some clothes to take a quick shower myself. Walking in the bathroom I was surprised to see she had folded her clothes and placed them on the sink. Of course, she wouldn’t leave them in a pile on the floor.

Tomorrow I would go to town, grab her some clothes and other things she would need. I was pretty sure I had enough nails to hammer her window down but I’d have to see about getting a doorknob that I could lock on my side of the door. Damnit Kincade needed to hurry up and get McGreggor the fucking list.

As I stepped out of the shower I heard a loud banging that could only be Mia. Sighing I dried off wrapping a towel around my waist. I didn’t have any neighbors close, I had picked this place because of its privacy. Still, she wasn’t about to keep that shit up.

Walking to her room I opened the door forgetting for a brief moment that I was still wrapped in a towel. “Can you knock the shit off? You know I can handcuff both of your hands if you prefer.”

Mia’s mouth dropped open as she looked over at me. I arched my brow seeing her face blush. Smirking I winked, “like what you see.”

“Fuck you,” she said.

Chuckling I shut the door behind me going back to the bathroom to get dressed. I had managed to successfully shut her up. The look on her face had been totally worth it. Walking down the hall I paused at her door listening and when I didn’t’ hear anything I walked to my room and collapsed on my bed. I just wanted to sleep. Hopefully, she would too. I had a feeling this girl was going to be a huge headache.
