Things Change

Mia’s POV,

I woke up early the next morning. The sun was just barely coming up over the mountains and I realized that I was laying in Logan’s arms. I knew I crawled into his bed last night, but it was only because I was scared. Now I was actually in his arms, my head laid on his chest. He was softly snoring with his fingers dug into my hair. I felt like I had to pee, yeah I had to pee badly. How the hell was I going to get out of his arms without waking him? I turned my head just enough to look right into his face. He was very good looking. I could see a slight trace of a scar under his right eye. I wanted to run my finger along it. I started to move slowly at first until Logan’s fingers tightened up in my hair. “Where are you going, princess?” I heard his deep voice say.

“I’m sorry but I have to pee. I didn’t mean to wake you.” That’s when Logan moved away from me like I was some sort of disease. It kind of hurt my feelings but I didn’t let it show as I made my way into the bathroom. I decided to jump into the shower. When I was done I found a cute pair of shorts and a light pink tank top. I pulled all my hair into a ponytail, and for some reason, I put a slight amount of makeup on. I found Logan in the kitchen, cooking like normal. “Good morning,” I said. Logan turned and looked at me for a moment and then went back to cooking.

“Yeah, good morning.” He said and I took a seat at the bar.

“What are you cooking? It smells great.” That’s when I heard him slam his fist on the countertop. I jumped and just looked at him.

“Listen to me Mia, I’m not your friend. I took you from your family. I have you here as a hostage. So start acting like it!” He snapped at me. I watched him walk out of the kitchen and slam the front door. I took one look at the dog and we both looked back at the door. I sighed, I was just trying not to cause any problems. I said to myself as I went over to the stove and finished making his eggs. I made him a plate and set it on the counter before I made myself a plate and went to my room. I closed the door behind me and ate on my bed. It had been about an hour and I hadn’t heard anything from Logan. I had found a book on top of the dresser in here so I just laid back on the bed and read.

Finally, I heard a light tap at the door. “Mia, can you come out here please?” I sighed and put my book down. I walked out into the living room and he asked me to have a seat on the couch.

“What do you want Logan?” I asked him and he just looked at me. You could tell Logan Heart struggled with his own personal demons. It was written all over his face. I know I’m supposed to be scared and doing nothing but trying to run away, but for some odd reason, I felt safe with him. It was almost like I could see a different side to Logan. I knew deep in my heart that he didn’t want to hurt me.

“Look, I’m sorry I went off like that earlier. It’s just that...” He paused for a moment. “It’s just that.”

“Do you want me to act like a scared little girl? Because yes Logan I’m scared. I’m scared of whats going on. I’m scared that my father is a bad man. I’m scared that your boss might order you to hurt or even kill me. I scared that your goons will come back here and hurt me, but Logan I’m not scared of you.” He shot his face at me. “I’m sorry Logan, I’m just not scared of you. I feel comfortable with you. I don’t understand it, but its how I feel.” Logan started to pace the room.

“FUCK!” He yelled out. “This wasn’t supposed to go this way.” I just sat there watching him pace the room. “I think we should leave,” Logan said.

“Leave? What? why?” I asked all in one question. Logan walked over to me and went to his knees in front of me. He placed his hand on my leg.

“I only know a little about what your father has been involved in, but from my understanding, it’s not good at all. I don’t know what my boss’s plans are for your family. I fear that it’s not good. I still haven’t heard anything from my boss and that only means he still hasn’t heard anything from your father, but what I do know is that your family has left the cabin and they haven’t reached out to the police for you. I don’t know what that means but I fear for your safety. I can’t let them hurt you. I don’t know why I feel this way, but I just can’t.” I gripped his hand and he looked back up at me. He looked me in the eyes but then looked away.

“Where will we go?” I asked him. He stood up and walked away from me.

“I have a few places we could go. Are you willing to go with me? If I was to send you home they would kill me and probably your whole family.”

“Who are these people Logan and how did you get mixed up with them?” Logan sighed and took a seat.

“They’re bad people Mia, my life has never been an easy one, but I do what I have to do to survive.” I could tell Logan didn’t want to talk about his life. I let it go for now. It’s funny how Logan tells me we are going to leave and I’m okay with going with him.

“Logan, is there a way to let my family know I’m okay?” I asked him.

“I don’t think you understand what I’m telling you. We can’t find them.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean after we took you they left and they didn’t go home. We think your family went into hiding.” My mind ended up getting all sorts of confused. Would they really give up on me and leave? Did my father have no way of finding me?“I’m sorry Mia, I have no idea what your father is up to, but I do know that my boss will do what he has to do to make your father come out of hiding. That’s why he sent the boys here to rough you up.” I could feel the tears start to sting my eyes. I have no idea who my family truly is. Or at least my parents. I started to cry and that when I felt him. Logan came to my side and pulled me into his arms. “I’m sorry you’re involved in this.” He said in my ear. I just wrapped my arms around him and cried. “I need you to hate me.” He said, almost to low for me to hear him, but I did hear him.

“I don’t hate you,” I said softly.

“You should.” Logan pulled back and looked me in the face. He tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. Our eyes locked and I wasn’t sure what was happing. That’s when his lips came to mine. It was brief, If I would have blinked I would have missed it. He pulled away and looked at me once again. “I’m sorry.” He simply said and walked off to his bedroom. I sat there and took a deep breath. Logan Heart was definitely a man full of secrets, and all I wanted to do was unlock every one of them. Now that I felt his lips, I knew things were about to change. I wanted to feel him again. I know there’s a name for someone like me, someone who falls for their kidnapper. Was I nuts, or was I just infatuated with the danger, the excitement of Logan? I had no answers to give myself. The only thing I could do was get up and go to him. I had to go to him.

I tiptoed to his door and pushed it open. He was laid back on the bed in nothing but a pair of torn black jeans. He had a cigarette lit and he was looking out of the window. “Logan?” I said still standing by his door.

“Go away Mia, please.” He said.

“I can’t Logan.” He closed his eyes and it looked like he was struggling with his words.

“I don’t trust myself around you.” He said. I slipped in and closed his door behind me. He looked over at me. “Did you not hear what I just said?”

“I did hear you, but if you want me to leave you alone. You’re going to have to remove me.” Logan let out a sigh.

“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” He said as he got off the bed, pulled me into his arms, and the next thing I knew. I was on my back in his bed and he was hovering above me.
