Book Summary

What would you do if you were fighting your own self, mentally and physically?

A traumatized childhood for a child from what seemed like a picture-perfect family has affected Maureen Tilas so much that then she finds the only way to cope with the trauma. She creates a new personality that is different from herself, who is shy, naive, and gullible. The new personality is cold, harsh and knows how to fight back. The new personality is a new identity created in Maureen's mind and this new identity is named Maze.

Through many trials and tribulations, Maureen uses Maze to take in all the memories from any traumatizing events she faces so she will not remember anything. Leading to Maureen to escape her childhood and grow up away from the past that ruined her. However, Maureen struggles to have a normal life, but that all comes crumbling down when her past is triggered by an abusive attack on her prom night. Maze resurfaces  then and takes in all Maureen's pain, but Maureen refuses to come back to reality, so  she hides in her own mind, trying not to accept the truth about the  abuse she went through as a child. Maze becomes Maureen shield and faces the reality that Maureen doesn't want to face. Maze is tough as nails and her existence is based on pain so she refuses help from everyone around her and runs away from Maureen second chance at a new life.

However, Maze makes a life for herself in the city of sin, Las Vegas. She's now 27, and spends herself living a confined life as an entertainer and bartender at one of Las Vegas exclusive clubs, Marquee Club. Maze only  way to stay in control is if Maureen doesn't find a way to deal with her  past, but as more time goes by Maureen is fading away as it seems. Maze is almost satisfied with her lonely life until rumors about Maureen's family The Tilas are coming to Las Vegas to help with a political campaign. It's the exact same family that caused the trauma that made Maureen hide and created Maze.

Maze is conflicted with  Maureen who is now trying to come back to reality when she discovers  that her little brother, Icas Tilas, she thought, was murdered  is  actually alive and is now caught in his own trouble. Maze lonely life is complicated even more when she meets Park Tae Soo, a police investigator who is dealing with a case involving Maureen brother, Icas Tilas for a crime. Maze wants to stay away from the Tilas family and away from Park Tae Soo. Despite so many accidents and threats coming her away, Maze is forced to face everything head on.

Then she must face the hardest challenge ever which is dealing with the person that created her, Maureen Tilas.

RiverSong: So, at first glance, I thought this was just going to be like any other werewolf book out there that you could find on Wattpad, but I was intrigued enough with the little bloop that I wanted to read more. Hudson: Your story was fantastic Erin! The Rising Sun was one of the first stories I read on Inkitt, and I have to say I don't regret the three to four days I spent pouring through the story.Probably the biggest strength I see in your writing is your characterisation of Eliana, Oriens, and the rest of th...

263Adder: Okay so I adore this story. I only knocked one star off plot for historical inaccuracies because I'm a bit of a stickler for that. LesAnne: I've never come across a plot like this, and I like its originality. At first, the title gave me the impression that the story is about friends making bets, but I've been proven wrong. I like the personality of the female main character, how evident her strengths and weaknesses are. She's become ...

Sandra Estrada: I loved every minute of it and I thank my lucky stars that brought me to the story, it's been a whirlwind of emotions, plot twist after plot twist but I never got tired of them.
