“Sorry We saw Allison walk out of the guest room and we didn’t know if she’d attack us” Ace explained, I could understand that but like really, there are two of them, against a tiny woman
“Oh my god, Zac are you Okay?” Ali said worriedly, she looked up from Xander and our eyes met, her eyes weren’t completely black which meant she hadn’t completely turned yet. But who knows how long she had left.
“Yea, I’m okay. Thank you” I said calmly. Xander slowly got up from his place on the floor and turned to Ace, Nico, and I
“Run!” I heard Nico yell when I turned around. I see him already halfway down the stairs, I didn’t waste any time following him. I heard footsteps behind me. I hoped that it was Ace and not Xander. Nico ran to the front door and swung it open, not stopping until he got to the end of his lawn. I make my way through the door and stop to make sure Ace and Ali get out of the house all right. Ali and Ace run out of the house mer moments after me, Ace stops and slams the door, with Xander banging into the door only seconds later.
“We need to leave, now,” Nico said as he approached his car unlocking the doors
“I can’t go with you,” Ali said lowly. After she’d seen Xander she knew the same thing was going to happen to her. “I don’t want to hurt any of you,” she added
Her now mostly black eyes looked into mine as they glistened with unshed tears. We all knew what was going to happen but I didn’t want to believe it, this can’t be happening. I can’t lose her too.
“Don’t say that Ali, we don’t know how this thing works just yet for all we know you’ll be okay” I whispered trying to contain the shakiness in my voice, this has to be a bad dream there’s no way this is happening. This can be happening, no, I’m dreaming. I just need to wake up.
“Zac, She’s right. I’m sorry.” Ace added placing one of his hands on my left shoulder, he sounded sad but what does he know about losing someone he loved. How would he know what it feels like to lose the only family you have left
“Are you crazy?!” I cried turning to face him, my vision blurred as tears filled my eyes.
“I could be dangerous, I feel my body changing and you smell so good” her tone had changed halfway through her sentence almost as if she had started to space out
“Guys I think we need to go,” Nico called from behind us. Before I knew it I was lifted into the air and thrown over Ace’s shoulder, I could feel the blood rushing to my head as Ace ran towards Nico’s car. No no no they were gonna leave her
“No, we can’t leave her!” I screamed as my hands collided with Ace’s muscular back, we couldn’t leave her, not like that. She didn’t deserve this. I could soon feel myself getting dizzy and losing the little energy I had left in my small body.
Ace opened the back door behind the passenger seat and threw me in the car and slammed the car door shut, as he opened the passenger door to get in I could hear Ali scream. It sounded exactly like the thing in the video, it couldn’t be. She can’t turn into one of those things
I could slowly feel my body shutting down but this wasn’t the time for sleep, I sat up and looked out the back window as Nico revved the engine. What was looking back at me wasn’t Ali well it was Ali but her eyes had changed, they looked hungry yet dead, the Ali I knew was gone. I could feel tears start to gather in my eyes and I quickly laid back down on the seat as Nico drove away.
I drifted off not long after as I could feel my body was past its limits.
“Where are we even gonna go? We sure as hell can’t go back to my house.” I heard a familiar voice say from in front of me
“Why don’t we go to my cabin?” I heard another familiar deep yet calming voice say this time coming from beside me, who were these people, where was I? These voices were familiar but I don’t know why, What happened? Was I being kidnapped? Come on Zac think, what’s the last thing you remember? Fuck.
I slowly opened my eyes to be met with the bright sun, I looked around the car to see that Ace was now beside me and Nico was in the driver’s seat yet he wasn’t driving. He was facing Ace, I guess he had pulled over.
“I need to go to my apartment” I mustered up the strength to say their heads snapped towards me, I guess I got their attention.
“Hey sleeping beauty, glad to see your finally awake,” Nico said I assume trying to be funny even though this wasn’t the time for jokes, Ace smacked Nico’s shoulder, not hard enough to hurt but enough to let him know to shut up
“How are you feeling Zac?” Ace added, obviously concerned
“How do I feel? I feel like shit! I lost my best friend, you left her there! Alone and scared!” I cried as my vision blurred as tears filled my eyes yet again. Ace looked hurt, did I care. No. He chose to leave her there.
“Okay Zac calm down,” Nico said and I turned my attention to him
“Calm down? How am I supposed to calm down! I lost the only person who ever cared about me, and it’s all your fault!” I screamed at Nico as tears fell down my heated cheeks in frustration and heartbreak
Nico looked as if I had killed his dog right in front of him, good he deserved to feel the same pain that Ali did. I swung open the car door and got out as fast as I could and started running away. I didn’t know where I was going. All I knew is that I didn’t want to be near Nico or Ace. Not after what they did, Ali didn’t deserve to die like that or become whatever those things were, this is their fault.
“Zac wait!” I could hear Ace yelling from behind me as he ran after me. I could tell where we were, it wasn’t far from my apartment, only about a 20-minute walk. That’s when something happened that would horrify me for the rest of my life.
