Chapter twenty one: 2043

"Fuck. Fuck! FUCK!" Mason screamed. He furiously paces back and forth in the soccer field at the high school. He couldn't believe he travelled back in time, two centuries ago when Cory reigned hell on Earth.

"Two hundred fucking years I travelled back," he mumbled. "I have no fucking clue where the rest are and who knows if they're here or in a different time line."

Panic set in as he rushed towards his old home.

He still remembers the address after all this time. When he found the house he stopped and looked at it. It's been almost two centeries since he's been in this home. It brings back memories of how he grew up here when he had school. His family never lived in the underworld while he had school. They always lived here but visited the underworld during the holidays and the breaks.

Stepping forward he walks into the house. It's just like how he remembers it.

The living room is right where you walk in with the leather couches facing the TV and fireplace with a thin wall seperating the kitchen. On the right of the living room is the stairs leading upstairs to the bedrooms. Just beside the stairs is another set of stairs leading down to the bonus room which also leads to the basement.

On the mantel is the pictures of him when he was a young boy and family pictures.

Memories flooded his brain from the earlier days when he didn't have to worry about anything. The good old days.

He continued through the house when he went downstairs where his father's office is. As he grew closer he heard the clicking noises coming from the room.

The door is closed do he knocked on it gaining attention to the person inside. Mason waited a second before the door creaked open revealing the younger version of his father. Locking eyes with him, his father smirked.

"Glad you could make it, Mason."

"What do you mean?"

"I've been waiting for you."

"You knew?"

He chuckled nodding. "Come with me."

Settling in the booth at Cheesecake Cafe, Ray, Mason's father, briefly scanned the drink menu. "I'm feeling for their homemade lemonade," Ray announced.

"Yeah . . . I'll have that as well."

A couple minutes later a waitress came to take their orders then left. Ray then scoured the menu before deciding on what he'd want. "Get whatever you want. It's on me. My treat."

Once they ordered their meal after their drinks came, Ray got right to the point.

"I knew you were coming. A hunch struck me when I noticed something felt off. I felt your presence near the home."

"How did you know it was me and not my younger self?"

"Oh my boy, I know when it's my son, and when it's my son in another timeline . . . I just know."

"So if you know I'm here, then you should know what I'm wanting to do?"

"Get back to your timeline. I don't know how you got here or how long you've been here, but I've sensed you coming as soon as you came near the house," Ray stated then drinking his lemonade. "Mmh. That's amazing lemonade."

Mason nodded not paying any attention to his beverage. "So what do you want?"

"I want to help you get back to your timeline. I don't want you messing up this timeline but I need to know how it started."

"Well sit back cause it's a long one."

Both men finished their meal and setting aside their plates.

"So what you need to do is defeat the schatten. I have a feeling someone followed you in mistakenly or not."

"My problem is keeping the schatten away from everyone else. Especially since Cory's going to reign hell on everyone in a few weeks."

"Well then you need to lead them away from here. Do what you need to do."

Mason nods when the waitress comes back taking their plates. "Would you two like dessert?"

"I'm good. How about you?" Ray asks.

"I'm good."

"The bill, please."

The waitress leaves as they continue.

"Is it just you or is there anyone else that went through the portal?"

"My friends came through the portal but I haven't got a clue of where they could be."

"Find them first then find the Schatten if possible. Then get out of here."

"Roger that."

Ray had driven Mason back to the old house and Mason thanked him for the lunch.

"No problem. Any time, Mason."

Mason left the home walking down the familiar streets. He sighed when he heard a shout coming from down the street. He ran towards the person when they came into view.

She glances up at him relieved. "Oh my god! Thank god I've found you!" She got up and ran towards him engulfing him in a bear hug. Mason hesitantly wraps his arms around her yet stilled relieved he found her. He knew that the others would be somewhat okay in this timeline as they've been apart of it. Megan and Ryder hasn't and that's his concern.

"Thank god your okay," Mason said tightening his hold.

"Where the hell are we?"

"When. When are we?"

"Well when are we?"

"2043, back when Cory reigned hell on us."

"Two hundred years?"

"Ah shit."

"Tell me about it."

Mason separated from Megan ready to leave. "We need to find the others to get out of here." He left out the part about a Schatten being here with them.

"The faster we find them the faster we get out of here."

"So where do we start?" She asks crossing her arms over her chest.

"I have an idea."

Both of them hid in the bushes at one of the houses that were throwing a party. Mason couldn't remember who did but someone did.

"I can't see anything," Megan complained.

"Well we're going to have to sneak in."

"What?! You can't be serious. I'm not dressed for the party," Megan states waving her hands down her clothes, which consists of a U of A hoodie and sweatpants.

"You look fine, now let's go." Mason grabs onto her wrist yanking her to the door.

They stepped in where the blast of music and the smell of booze welcomed them.

"Alright, stick with me," he shouted over the music. "You don't know this place very well and I'd hate to lose you in this mess."

"Alright, I got it."

They walked past the kitchen where the booze was displayed and Megan couldn't resist herself.

"Oh my god, Mason I want some drinks."

"Please, Mason?" He stopped, glancing at her sighing when her puppy eyes met his.

"Do you really want a drink?"

"Yes. I haven't had one drink since I died."

He sighs feeling defeat. "No."

"Sorry, but we've got more important things to do."

They weave through the crowds as the people party. Heading into the living room they hear familiar voices in this timeline.

"These people aren't from our timeline, so stay quiet," Mason instructe to Megan. She nods motioning zipping her lips. They creep down hiding behind the wall as they watch the younger selves of himself and his friends playing spin the bottle with other people. After awhile younger Hudson and Mason walks in.

"Wow, you look so young," Megan commented.

"I was only seventeen at that time."

They saw Melody and Hudson kissing. They couldn't hear anything over the loud msuic so they spectatored. Afterwards, everyone left but the seven. They watched as they talked.

"Wow, this is so boring. Where's the action?" Megan and Mason jumped and screamed when turning around, Charlie stands their drinking. "What? I'm not wrong. Where's all the action from earlier?"

"Where were you?"

"Robbing the bank. Look, while you're all buisness I'm going to enjoy this party until we have to kick asses."

He dissapeared leaving the two astonished. When they truned back to the living room, the seven were gone.

"Great, we lost them."

"That's fine. They weren't the ones we needed anyways."

They were about to walk out when Megan stopped them. "Hey, I'll be right back."

He nods and waits for her curious what she's doing. She finally walks towards him with a bag around her shoulder. "What the fuck do you've got there?"

"Something for later. Now lets go."

They were about to walk out the door when someone yelled, "Hey! Stop right there you thief!"

"Megan what did you steal?"

"Nevermind that, lets go."

They ran out of the house with an angry drunk person running after them. "Hey! Stop! Somebody stop them!"

They ran far away from the house with the clanging inside the bag. Once they're far away, they head to a park where they sat on the swings when Megan pulled out the bottles of alcahol.

"No you didn't," Mason replies smiling as he takes the bottle.

"Yes I did. I wasn't leaving that party without the booze."

"I'm glad you stole it."

Megan took out another bottle and taking the cap off.

"Might as well let loose before we get back."

They take a drink in unison as they look out at the darken place.

"You know . . . This is nice," Mason started. "Nothing to worry about, just be free."

"I know. It's awesome to feel that way. I've always liked being free."

Mason took another sip. "I haven't felt free in years," he said looking out into the sky. "I've always been so worked up about becoming king, and working as a trainer that I had no time to myself."

"Well here's your chance."

"Yeah. I'll take it. I don't know when I'll get this feeling again. It could be years from now or never again."

"You need time to yourself, though. Even I know that."

"I know but when have I had time? My coronation is coming up along with the Schattens running around."

"I know."

They say in silence drinking away their beverage.

"So . . . How are you feeling about becoming King?"

She glances at him shocked by his answer. "Seriously? You? Terrified?" Megan breaks into laughter.

"Haha. Laugh all you want."

"It's hilarious. The big bad devil is terrified about becoming king." She continues to laugh, hunching over in the swing. "I'm sorry but that's the funniest thing I've heard all day."

"You try ruling a whole kingdom right after your parent with high expectations?"

Megan quite laughing starting at him. "You'll be fine. I know you'll be a great leader. I've seen what you've done in the training room."

"But that's different."

"How different?"

". . ."

"Exactly. Look," she sets down the beverage and stands up and kneels down in front of him, resting her arms on his lap. "Mason, you will be the greatest ruler that has happened. They will listen to you and I know you'll torture whoever disobeys. Plus, I'm kinda scared of your dad."

Mason chuckles. "Everyone is scared of him."

"Exactly, that's why you'll be great. Everyone is unique and you don't have to follow in his footsteps to rule a whole fucking kingdom. I won't be going anywhere so come to me if you need anything. I may not be a good talker for heart to heart, as you can tell, but I'll do my best."

"No problem. Now I think we should get going. Who knows how long it'll take to find them?"

"True enough."

Getting up from the swings, they grab the bottles and chuck them in a nearby trash bin and walking through the night to find the rest of their gang.
