25 - Feeling strange

Amile

I haven’t slept well since my encounter with that big, bulky, scary man in the Devil’s Den. Dan said he was family. I’m sure he told me all about his family and not once hand he mentioned this Dominique geezer.

I could tell he was from France, I could tell by his foreign accent. I knew that Dan and Deon also came from France, but I’m not sure where they had moved here over fifteen years ago. This all seems very fishy.

Dan and Deon had tried to teach my French but it was useless, I couldn’t pick up on it. I know that they had taught me the basics that I had already been taught at school but a little more, they said it was hopeless. I barely grasped English and I was born and bred here. So how was I supposed to understand a completely different language?’

But this guy.

Shit.

He was hot, but his Ora was dangerous and had me shaking just in his presence. I was scared shitless and he knew it when he grinned at his accomplishment. I was rarely scared. No one scared me, but that was ice in the ring full of confidence until it came to meeting this guy face to face. It was the most terrifying thing I had ever experienced. I could also tell he was a sleek businessman, but I didn’t let him know I knew he was part of the French Mafia that wouldn’t be a wise move on my part. I’d be shot through the head.

When he introduced me his hands were rough and strongly clenched around mine. And when his name rolled off his tongue. “ Dominique.” Fuck I was feeling something strange, was it fear or excitement? knowing what this guy was capable of even if I looked at him the wrong way I’m sure that he would blow my brains out without hesitating.

‘What are you thinking about Amy?’ Beau asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.

‘Nothing.’

‘Are you sure? You looked miles away and your face looked as if you were deep in thought about something.’

‘Can I trust you not to tell anyone?’

‘Of course you know I’ll never throw your trust away it means a lot to me that you trust me.’

‘Remember when I told you about me fighting at the devil’s den?’

‘Yeah I do.’ He looked at me concerned. ‘You’re not thinking about quitting are you?’

‘Fuck no it’s my only get away fron the shit going on in my life right now it’s my only release.’

He nodded. ‘So what’s up if it isn’t that?’

‘I met someone there over the weekend.’

‘Oh really?’ He said, smirking, wiggling his eyebrows.’

I playfully punched his arm.

‘Owe.’ He said faking his hurt.

We both burst out laughing. I hope nothing ever changes between us as I’m going to college in September and Beau, well I actually I have no idea what he is going to do after he leaves here. I hope we stay friends no matter what, I trust this guy with my life.

We finally stop laughing. ‘Anyway as I was saying I met a guy at the weekend wel Li met three men in fact.’

‘I see.’

‘It’s not like that Beau. Dan introduced us well, he introduced them as his family, to my fighter self if you get what I mean.’

‘I do, I think.’

Anyway they were all nice and polite but this one guy sent shivers down my spine he was all dark eyes, jet black hair, muscles, tattoos wearing a million pound suit. He was well, let’s just say his Ora was one that says don’t mess me or I’ll fuck you over. He said his name was Dominique. And fuck even when he spoke his voice held authority he scared me more than the head of this fucking school he send shivers through every part of my body.’ I looked at Beau who had paled and his eyes were dilated. ‘Beau.’ I snapped my fingers a few times,

He finally shook his head. ‘Sorry what did you say?’

‘Are you okay Beau? you looked really pale and out of it’

‘Yeah I’m fine. We should be getting back to class.’

He said as the bell went what was he hiding?

I dismissed it as we pulled ourselves up off the ground and headed to class. The rest of the day was uneventful. We all said our goodbyes and I headed home.

Beau

I slid into the car. I still can’t believe that she had met Dominique. What the hell were they thinking ? I thought this was strictly no contact until we got her back home.

Lucien looked at me. «Qu’est-ce que c’est que le visage Beau? Avez-vous passé une mauvaise journée? » (What’s with the face Beau? Have you had a bad day?)

«Non, j’ai juste beaucoup de choses en tête en ce moment.» (No, I just have a lot on my mind right now.)

‘Comme quoi?’ (Like what?) He looked at me with concern written all over his face. «Tu peux me parler de tout.» (You can talk to me about anything.)

‘Est-ce-que je peux?’ (Can I?)

‘Bien sûr.’ (Of course.)

«Dom a vu Amy?» (Dom saw Amy?)

«Elle nous a tous vus.» (She saw all of us.)

‘Que diable ? Je pensais qu’elle n’était censée voir aucun d’entre vous avant notre départ, surtout Dominique? » (What the hell ? I thought she wasn’t supposed to see any of you till we went now, especially Dominique?)

«Calmez-vous Beau. Nous étions là pour voir Dan pour voir comment se portait la tanière des démons. Il tournait plus d’un million par mois grâce à votre ami. » (Calm down Beau. We were there to see Dan to see how devils den was doing. It was turning over a million a month thanks to your friend.)

«Cela n’explique toujours pas comment elle vous a tous rencontrés.»‘That still doesn’t explain how she met all of you.’

“Dom a insisté pour la voir se battre et Dan nous a tous présentés.” (Dom insisted on seeing her fight and Dan introduced us all.)

(I know she told me and I quote “I met someone there over the weekend. Well I met three men in fact. Dan introduced us, well he introduced them as his family, to my fighter self if you get what I mean. And fuck even when he spoke his voice held authority he scared me more than the head of this fucking school he send shivers through every part of my body.)

Lucien

I smirked. Dom always had that effect on people; it was nice to know he had that effect on her too.

«Ce n’est pas drôle Lucien.» (It’s not funny Lucien.)

“Oh ça l’est.” (Oh it is.)

«Tu ne penses pas que ça va faire sauter notre couverture?» (Don’t you think it will blow our cover?)

«Dom sait ce qu’il fait. Elle ne le reverra plus avant notre retour en France. » (Dom knows what he’s doing. She won’t see him again until we get back to France.)

D’accord.′ (Okay.) he sighed.

I pulled up outside the town house and we both got out of the car and we headed inside.

Dom looked at us.

«Alors comment s’est passée l’école aujourd’hui, gamin?» (So how did school go today kid?’)

‘Même vieux.’ (Same old, same old.)

I burst out laughing.

«Qu’est-ce qui est si drôle Lucien?» (What’s so funny Lucien?)

«Dites-lui ce qu’Amile vous a dit aujourd’hui et dites à Dom ce qu’elle a dit de lui.» (Tell him what Amile said to you today and tell Dom what she said about him.) I continued laughing holding my stomach shit that hurts.

Dominique

I looked at Beau waiting for him to answer. He looked as if he didn’t know where to put his face right now or if he was going to put his foot in his mouth and get me angry. I was already getting angry. He needed to answer me and quickly before I punched him. “Eh bien Beau, qu’est-ce qu’Amile a dit de moi?” (Well Beau, what did Amile say about me?)

«Urgh urgh.» (Urgh urgh.)

«Putain, dis-le moi!» (Just fucking tell me!) I said, getting agitated.

(She said “this one guy sent shivers down my spine; he was all dark eyes, jet black hair, muscles, btattoos wearing a million pound suit. He was well, let’s just say his Ora was one that says don’t mess me or I’ll fuck you over. He said his name was Dominique. And fuck even when he spoke his voice held authority, he scared me more than the head of this fucking school he send shivers through every part of my body.)

I grinned like a Cheshire Cat. I knew I had an affect on my wild flower but not this much of an effect.

«Vous n’êtes pas en colère contre moi?» (You’re not mad at me?)

«Et pourquoi le serais-je? Je suis content d’avoir cet effet sur elle? » (And why would I be? I am glad I have this effect on her ?)

‘Vous êtes?’ (You are?)

I grinned. » (I am. At least I know she will fear me when she finally comes face to face with me again.)
