I remember the first time he
The day before was hands down the best day of my life. Or so I thought.
My mom was the kindest that she has ever been to me in my life. She let me sleep in. She made breakfast. My favorite breakfast actually. Buttermilk pancakes topped with maple syrup and fresh strawberries along with homemade strawberry lemonade. It reminded me of our Crimson hair. The real shocker was that I didn't have to work at the store that day.
It was amazing. For the first time in a long time I felt so free. So loved. That was what brought me to my disastrous decision. I decided to buy her and her guests some gifts. Strawberry Rose Cigars since I knew how much her and her friends loved to smoke.
The day had finally arrived and my optimistic spirit was still fueled. I made them a generous sized supper.
When my mom came home and saw all that I had done, she hugged me for the first time. In that moment I forgot everything. The beatings, her harsh words, the hard labor, and the pain were all replaced by the hope of having my mom back. I should've known it wouldn't last.
