INT. HALLWAY OF MEMOIRS
Frank and Hamilton step into the hallway of memoirs, they recognize the cell where Clown was held dormant, only this time- it is open. As the two step up to the cell, they see Leo’s body and a key inside the cell door lock.
He got out.
Looks like it. Why would the doorway take us back here?
Because I made it so.
The two turn to see Roy, holding a lantern, slowly walking toward them.
As Clown said earlier, Roy looks exactly like Leonard Conroy.
You must be Roy.
So, you know my name. Conr must’ve told you.
Roy makes a stop when he is close enough for the two to see him well enough.
Why are you here?
To help Leonard.
No, I know that, I mean, why are you in this part of the subconscious? The one you trust is too dangerous.
I figured you would say that.
He speaks vague truths. Not explaining what is really going on.
And what’s that?
That Conr wants us all dead. He wants Leonard to be what Leonard isn’t.
Roy takes a deep breath.
For a guy who accuses someone else of speaking vague truths, you do a good job at being a hypocrite.
The deal you made him has proved you believe he is real. Making him strong enough to kill my dear friend over there.
He gestures to Leo’s lifeless corpse.
I implore you to see reason.
You made Marshall go insane. You got Trevor and Jim killed. You have toyed with us since the minute we arrived.
Frank lifts the gun, pointing at Roy as he steps closer to him. Hamilton rushes to stop Frank.
This is for Trevor.
As Frank makes perfect aim, the lights go black.
We only see darkness. After a moment we hear a laughter, maniacal laughter.
INT. MEMORY ABYSS
Frank wakes up to be on the ground, with his gun laying in front of him. He touches his head, as if he was hurt earlier. He sits up, trying to remember earlier events.
Before you finish what you came here to do, I want you to see some-things....
Many T.V. screens pop up in front of Frank as he stands up. Frank places the gun in his belt loop.
What the hell?
The T.V. screens show many different things.
T.V. #1 shows Leonard Conroy killing Luke.
T.V. #2 shows Conroy kicking Caitlyn off an upstairs portion of a house with a rope around her neck.
T.V. #3 shows Conroy killing Justin in front of a soda machine.
T.V. #4 shows the Clown killing Jim.
Frank doesn’t pay attention to these; he doesn’t notice them.
He is paying attention to a T.V. in particular, T.V. #5 is showing Amy waiting at a dinner table. Hamilton sits in front of her.
Frank is taking sharp, deep breaths.
He looks at T.V. #6, which shows Hamilton drugging Leonard Conroy in his sleep.
He scolds the screen on T.V. #7 showing Hamilton disconnecting the Jump Sanity Battery.
Frank’s jaw begins to shake; he is growing angry.
He looks at T.V. #8; it shows Hamilton moving to kiss Amy.
It is implied that they kissed.
Frank struggles to look at the screen.
He looks at T.V. #9; it shows the two going into the same bedroom.
We see Frank’s face expression, fumes of anger swelling and tears building up in his eyes.
They were having an affair!
Frank steps away from the T.V.s. He wipes sweat off his face as he begins to breath and pant heavily.
No.... No... No...
A light appears showing Hamilton tied onto a chair, with cuts and blood on his face and clothes. He looks up to see Frank, who is scolding him.
Frank... Thank God.
H-Help me get out of this.
Frank slowly walks to Hamilton. Hamilton is breathing heavily.
Frank.... Frank, why are you looking at me like that?
Is it true?
Is what true?
Did you drug Leonard?
Hamilton looks down, ashamed.
How did you find out?
Answer the fucking question.
Hamilton hesitates to answer.
To amplify his chances of having the Memory Complex....
You wanted him to get it?!
I wanted to step into another man’s subconscious. Frank.... You.... You are my greatest student. You created a way to see another man’s psyche through your own eyes. I wanted to experience that.
Why’d you shut the Jump Sanity Battery off?
Hamilton sighs, disappointed.
I wanted to have the full experience of jumping into the subconscious of another man.
Frank scolds him angrily.
You’re a doctor and a professor. Of all things, you knew altering anything in the procedure would be bad for us and Leonard. The risks, the uncertainty, the horror this brings to people.
I know... I’m sorry....
Frank presses the gun against his forehead, as if trying to rationalize this entire predicament.
A moment passes slowly, until Frank takes another scolding look at Hamilton.
You... You did it all for yourself...
The room fills with silence as Frank’s tears leave his eyes.
Did... Did you....
Did I what?
D-Did you sleep with Amy? While I was with her?
Hamilton stares at him, speechless.
Jeremiah.... Did you sleep with Amy while I was with her?...
Hamilton looks Frank in the eye.
Frank turns away, furious.
He yells at the distance around him.
Frank turns back to Hamilton.
So, you got everyone here killed and you fucked my fiancé?!
Hamilton looks at him in shame.
... I’m sorry....
Frank takes a few deep breaths as he looks at the ground.
Then he looks up at Hamilton, an idea forming.
When she was pregnant... was the baby mine?
Hamilton looks at him, saying nothing.
Hamilton squirms, as if reacting to Frank’s anger.
No!... No... It wasn’t ....
Frank begins to tear up. He points the gun at Hamilton.
No. No, Frank, no! I’m sorry! Frank! Frank!!!
Frank pulls the trigger twice, placing two holes into Hamilton’s body, instantly killing him.
Frank lowers the gun, holding his face with his free hand, crying in despair of his life filled lies.
A light appears behind him, we see Roy taking rope off of himself, standing out of the chair.
Frank turns to face him.
Roy runs toward him.
Frank, stop what you’re-
Frank points the gun at Roy and pulls the trigger!
