Prologue

The sun is shining brightly today. The sky is as fair as it could be with clouds like white cotton candies you want to grab and eat. The wind is blowing smoothly, freeing me from the stress I had from the past week. Sitting on the cool grass and enjoying the breeze with this lovely weather, is really an ecstatic sight. Without wasting any time, I close my eyes, lie down and relax.

Just when I thought everything was going perfect, I hear a murmur. But it is not clear. Ignoring it and continuing with my sleep, I again hear something. But this time, it is a cry. A very short but long enough to figure out.

I instantly stand up and start tracking it. It grows louder. The wind is now gone and, dark clouds begin surrounding the sun. In three seconds, the sky turns black and, the cry becomes more prominent.

It is so eerie that no one would want to follow it. But my body keeps on moving. I want to stop but, I lost control over myself. As I get closer, the grass turns black. And it is then I notice that the cry is not just a simple cry, it is a scream. Not just simple a scream rather screams. And those screams are calling for help. In the dead silent air, the melancholy of screams rises. They all are becoming so loud that I cannot tolerate them. The pitch keeps on increasing to a point I cannot understand a single thing they are saying. I close my eyes shut and protect my ears with my hands. The noise makes me scream. Blood leaks out from my nose. My brain can no longer handle this shit.

“Shut up. Just shut up!!!!” I yell.

Everything goes silent. Sensing the atmosphere, I try to open my eyes and see a cage. But strangely, nothing is inside it. My body starts advancing towards it on its own and, I start examining it. The enclosure is rusty and old, with a unique lock, surprisingly familiar.

“Why do I feel like I’ve seen this before?”

And as I was about to go into deep thought, a hand grabs my right hand. That hand is scorching hot as if it is burning. Slowly a full body appears inside that cage. It is a very old man. Hair all white and face totally wrinkled, the man is kneeling down with pleading eyes and says, “Save us, please. Save us. They’re going to torture us.”

“I will surely, but how?” I ask.

“Please save us. Please”, he continues reciting these words.

“They’re going to torture us.”

“They are going to torture us.”

“They are going to torture us.”

One by one, people start to appear inside that cage. All of them saying the same thing and begging. And suddenly, they all are on fire.

The elder does not leave my hand.

“Let me go, sir, please”, I start panicking. If this man doesn’t leave my hand, I’ll burn with him too.

“Please save us. They are going to torture us.” He continues ramming.

“If you will not let go, how will I save you sir”, I say as I try to break free from his grip. But he does not let it loose.

“Please, you are our last hope. Please.”

The fire starts reaching his hand. It is spreading really fast. In a flash, my hand is on fire.“Sir, please let me go!!!!”

“Please save us. Please”

The fire starts spreading from my hand to every part of my body. I start screaming. My skin starts to melt. And I can see my muscles and tendons now.

Fear starts to engulf me. Slowly, the fire reaches my face. I scream for help.

“NO!!!”

......

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.

.....

I instantly woke up from my dream.

“Not again.”
