Chapter 2: Settling In

Jolene had just gotten off the phone with Cody. She was about 10 minutes or so away from Hannah's house when she decided to stop at the local store and get some things she would need like a blanket, deodorant, more clothes, and common toiletries. She ended up spending about $60 on all of her items.
When she got to Hannah's house Mrs. Miller greeted her in welcoming arms, as she understood the struggle of fighting parents. Jolene explained to Hannah that when her time was up here she would be moving in with Cody until she had the money to get her own place. Jolene had always wanted to live in one of those house sheds that have the windows and porch. And already had a savings account for one.
It was late at night so the girls decided to hit the hay. Jolene tossed and turned all night in fear her parents would come get her.

When moving came around she woke up to the smell of freshly cooked eggs and bacon. The Miller's were already up dressed and eating and Mrs. Miller was headed out the door when she heard Jolene come out of bed. She quickly turned around to say bye and that she would be back at 6:30 pm and there is waters in the fridge and to help herself.

Eventually Hannah went to Jack's, her boyfriend house. Jolene was home alone and very board. She was watching the TV when her phone rang, when she looked down to see who was calling her she smiled from ear to ear, it was Cody.

"Hey doll, are you busy?"

"Actually no, Hannah just left to go to Jack's. Why do you ask?"

"I was just wondering if you wanted to come over amd hang for a little bit. Maybe go for a trail ride this evening. Lay under the stars in the bed of my truck sharing our hopes and dreams for the future together."

"Yea, that sounds great." Jolene said in a sad tone.

She then, hung up the phone and snuck over to her parents house to load up her horse and all her tack. She wanted to ask Cody if she could keep Cow at his place.
Cow had been Jolene's horse since she was just 3 years old. She named him Cow because he was white with black splotches all over, just like a cow.

Cody was hesitant at first, but after seeing Jolene in person, he fell head over boots and couldn't say no. She insisted on paying Cody for letting her keep Cow there but he didn't let her.
That night after supper, they went for a short trail ride, and came back to lay under the stars, Jolene cuddled up to Cody with her head on his chest. She could hear his heartbeat almost perfectly in sync with hers. She fell asleep in his arms. He didn't want her to drive all the way back to Hannah's alone amd at night so he carried to to his bed and they slept there.
