ENGAGING JAYDEN

KNOX

Jayden looked exhausted by the time Gage took her home. I was tempted to leave with them since ‘Him’ was still out there but I chose not to since Abel and Spencer had tagged along. Not to mention there was a deputy parked outside my house. I squared my que to the center of the white ball, saying, “Two in the left corner,” and took my shot just as the door opened.

And in walked Felicity Anderson.

We went to high school together. Standing at five-four and a hundred twenty-ish pounds I’m guessing, she had killer curves in all the right places. She was blessed with natural c’s lingering more on the larger end. Her long blond hair, dyed of course, was drawn in a ponytail and she hadn’t put any make-up on. She was one of the few who didn’t need it. Our eyes met and she bit back a smile. She wore dixie shorts and a crop top, leaving no no one to question as to what her assets were. It had been a week since the last time we had sex and I was going fucking crazy.

Seeing her swing her hips a little more than normal made me laugh. The playful smile she flashed me told me it was intentional. Though I didn’t need to see her smile to know that.

“Hey, Casanova— Are you gonna shoot or continue drooling?”

I looked at Eagan. “Fuck you, I’m not drooling.” I lied.

I was drooling.

Keeping my eyes on Felicity, I tapped my que on the right center pocket and lined up my shot. I hit it harder than I had intended and swore when I scratched after the eight ball.

“I hate winning like that.” Eagan looked disappointed. “Are you up for another game?”

“Nah.” I looked to Felicity who tossed her hair over her shoulder as she laughed with Damion— a guy we went to high school with.

“Not drooling, huh?”

I flipped Eagan off and set my que on the table. I grabbed my phone, keys and wallet off the table. “I’m out.”

“See you at work tomorrow.” Eagan tilted his beer at me.

“Bye, Knox.”

I smiled at Lily. “See ya.”

I walked towards Felicity and when she made eye contact with me I notched my head towards the door and kept walking. I didn’t miss her smile or the twinkle in her eye. She gave her excuses to Damion before she hopped off the bar stool and followed me out.

I climbed in the driver’s seat as she hoisted herself up on the passenger side. I locked the doors and she removed her jean shorts and crawled over to straddle me. “Why haven’t you called?” She didn’t waste time in unfastening my jeans and grabbing my johnson.

I groaned as she gripped the base. Damn she had magical hands. “I’ve been busy.” I pulled out a condom from the center console. I couldn’t tell her the truth. Bringing up my sister and our current dilemmas was only going to make me limp.

We’ve been friends with benefits for about nine months. I guess you could say since it sunk in that my wife wasn’t coming back.

“Well…” She rolled her hips and slid her peach over my condomless dick. And it was soaked. I groaned. I couldn’t help it. Fuck did it feel good. She did it again and I dropped my head back against the headrest and closed my eyes. She took the condom from me and ripped it open. I was rather glad because at the moment I was having a hard time concentrating with her constantly rubbing against me.

Pardon the pun.

“I’ve been having to take care of my needs all week.” She pouted.

We never talked about being exclusive. I just assumed I wasn’t the only one she had been banging. I’ve a few here and there in between, like when I went to Vegas for example, and I never thought twice about it.

Shit…

Should I have?

I stopped her before she could put the condom on. “Why?” I said once before that I hate puzzles. I needed to know.

She dropped her eyes to my chest. “I know you’ve had sex a few times with other…”

I put my finger under her chin and made her look at me. “Why, Felicity?”

She parted her lips and ran her tongue across her lower lip. Damn I wanted to bite it. I had to wait. “I don’t want anyone else.” I could barely hear her, she whispered so quietly. She averted her eyes from me.

Were those tears gathering?

Fuck…

FUCK…

Women sometimes complain that men can be dumbasses at times. Well, for the first time in my life, I’m beginning to think that they may be on to something. I tried running over any signs that I may have missed and honestly, I couldn’t peg one.

Had I been that blind all along?

“You want to be exclusive.” It wasn’t a question.

“We don’t have to be.” I note that she hadn’t answered my question. Well, she did...just not directly. “I’m not expecting that, Knox.”

“But you want to be.” Again, it wasn’t a question.

She didn’t reply.

“Felicity,” I gripped her hips and held her in place as she tried to climb off me, “just answer the question.”

She took a deep breath and averted her gaze a couple times before they settled on mine permanently. She gave a nod.

“I know you don’t want to though.” Again her voice was quiet.

Did I want to be exclusive?

“Just forget it.” She tried to climb off again and I gripped her harder to keep her in place.

“Hey!” I said, making her look at me again. I had never seen Felicity vulnerable like this. Since I’ve known her, she has been perky and a hellion. I was forign to this new side of her.

I had to say...I kind of liked it. I never thought twice about what Felicity and I had because I’ve always just seen it as sex. A random hook up. We dated in junior high for a few weeks and messed around. Again, in high school. After that, we went our separate ways until my wife left me.

The thought of us being exclusive made me look forward to it. It also scared me. I fell for Candy in a short amount of time and hadn’t thought we wouldn’t have made it as a couple. Had I thought that, I wouldn’t have married her in the first place.

I was raised old fashioned...what could I say?

I saw the hope in her gaze. I knew she tried to hide it but failed to. I also saw sadness and it made my chest ache.

Why did it bother me that she was hurting?

“Knox, we don’t have…”

I knew why...

“Okay.” I interrupted. I wanted to grin because she looked shell shocked. I didn’t. In fear of her crying I didn’t. In case she didn’t believe me, I repeated it again for her. “Okay.”

I could do exclusive.

“But I can’t promise anything more than that. Not right now.”

She knew about Candy. I had told her everything. There were no secrets between us, aside from Jayden’s stalker.

She licked her lips with a bright smile and this time I didn’t hold back. I took her face between my hands and bit down on her lower lip before our tongues fought for dominance.

* * *

“Come inside and have a beer with me.” She said as she slipped on her jean shorts. “We can play a round of darts.”

The mention of darts made me chuckle. “The last time we played you said that you’d never play me again.”

“Well…I lied.”

We stepped into the bar and Damion turned around. Catching us coming in together, he huffed a grin with a shake of his head knowing full well that Felicity and I had screwed. He turned back to the bar and motioned to my uncle for another beer.

“I wasn’t going to sleep with him, you know.” Felicity’s words caught my attention.

I looked at her then. She came to a halt causing me to as well. “I was flirting with Damion to make you jealous. I wasn’t going to take it further than that.”

I leaned down and whispered in her ear, “I know.” I kissed her behind her ear knowing it would cause a shiver to run through her since it was her most sensitive spot. Aside from her peach. I knew a few people had their eyes on us and I ignored them. Eagan being one of them. I did however flip him my middle finger as I followed Felicity to the dart board hand in hand only to hear my good friend chuckle in return.

I was going to get nothing but shit from Eagan tomorrow.

Three games later I hear, “I’m never playing darts with you again.” I laughed over the rim of my beer.

“I thought you said you lied about that.”

“I mean it this time.” She placed her hand on her hip and held her heard high.

“Right.” I replied. I gave her a wink, making her blush. I noticed a change in her. It happened the moment I agreed to be exclusive.

I took Felicity home and when I pulled up in front of my house I took a double take of my porch. I killed the engine and locked the truck, keeping my eyes on the vase of flowers on the small table beside the door. I walked over and grabbed the note that was attached.

MINE

My heart sank and my chest grew tight. I looked in the vast darkness wondering it the son-of-a-bitch was out there watching.

I hurried to the deputy car and banged on his window, startling the shit out of him since I had just woken the bastard up.

He rolled down his window, “I didn’t mean to-”

“He was fucking here.” I yelled at him. I glared at the wide eyed deputy. “Don’t say a fucking word to Jayden about this you understand?”

The deputy nodded quickly and I stormed off. I dumped the flowers and note in the garbage before I headed inside.
