Chapter 4

Up high in the bleachers, Elizabeth sat looking down on the football field. Her hair was dyed black hair and fingernails were painted black. She wore Goth-style clothing with a Marilyn Manson t-shirt from Mechanical Animals. She sat with her only friend from college, Matthew Wadington. He was twenty-one; the same age as her. His parents had money, which made him arrogant at times. He also had a narcissist attitude when it came to people he disliked.

"Disgusting," Elizabeth said. "Why does my sister have to do that in public?"

"His parents don't have a pot to piss in, ya know," Matthew said. "If it weren't for his football scholarship, he wouldn't even be here. I don't know what she sees in that Neanderthal."

"Hey, watch it!"

"Oh, excuse me. So, what do you see in that Neanderthal?"

"Shut up, Matthew!"

"C'mon, you don't gotta a chance. He's obviously in love with your sister ... and she's so fucking hot too."

"Hey, what the fuck?"

"C'mon, she is. I mean you are too, but we're friends and even though I wouldn't mind fucking you, what would that do to our relationship?"

"Matthew, will you shut the fuck up already?" she said shoving her textbook into her backpack. Then she got up and headed down the bleachers.

"C'mon, you know I'm only kidding," Matthew said as he grabbed his backpack and went after her.

"Ya know, you can say some stupid shit sometimes."

"C'mon, I was just teasing. I'm sorry."

"Well, since you're my only friend, I guess I'm stuck with you."

"Well, then, thanks bitch."

"That's right and I'll kick your ass!" she said punching Matthew playfully in the arm. Then she removed the cigarette from his mouth and took a drag. "C'mon, let's go asshole."

"Okay, dick-breath."

"Ew, pig!"

They laughed together while climbing down the bleachers, inventing new names to call each other.
