The Performance

Scene 3 opens with Charlotte and the others getting ready to perform

Charlotte: *deeply inhales and exhales repeatedly*

Eli: Hey, Charlotte. Relax.

Eric: Yeah, girl. You gotta chillax. We’re gonna do fine.

Charlotte: *inhales deeply, then exhales* Okay. I’m ready.

Mr. Paris: *on stage* My, my, the Stage Frighteners sure terrified me with their talent! *guffaws* And now, let’s hear it for ‘The Orchestrators!’ *jumps off stage and sits in front row*

The Orchestrators: *walk onto stage in positions with Eric at the guitar stand, Genevieve at the bass stand, Geoff at the drum-set, Eli at the piano, and Charlotte at the microphone stand*

Geoff: *sitting at drum set clicks his drumsticks four times at 75 BPM*

The Orchestrators: *begin playing music*

Charlotte: As I smile to the world, you are my living light. But in the darkest night, I couldn’t see where you were. Now, I’m searching for your trail, to find where you are, it seems frail. But I don’t know where you’ve gone, but I’m searching till you reappear. And I will try to find what was done, that made you suddenly disappear. So, I’m searching for you. (Gone. Gone. Gone) I woke to find nothing. There has to be something! Now I’ll look high and low to find out what went down. These pieces lead me closer. Now I have a lead past this blur. Now, I’m searching for your trail, to find where you are, it seems frail. But I don’t know where you’ve gone, but I’m searching till you reappear. And I will try to find what was done, that made you suddenly disappear. So, I’m searching for you. Oh, woo oh! (I will search for you!) Oh, woo oh! (You are alive!) I will search for you. You are alive! I know it though, that you can be safe, safe again! Oh, woo oh! Now, I’m searching for your trail, to find where you are, it seems frail. But I don’t know where you’ve gone, but I’m searching till you reappear. And I will try to find what was done, that made you suddenly disappear. So, I’m searching for you.

The Orchestrators: *stop playing music*

All: *cheer, scream, and applaud*

Mr. Paris: *stands up and jumps on stage* Oh, boy, were these guys amazing or what?! But I’m afraid that these two bands were the only bands for tonight.

All: *start booing*

Mr. Paris: But don’t worry, I’m sure someone will stand up and want to perform on stage as well. In the meantime, it’s about 9:00, so, all of you off to bed. We’ll need to be up bright and early in the morning! You’re all dismissed!

All: *stand up and start walking out of performance lodge*

Eric: Oh my, gosh! That was crazy! We killed it up there!

Charlotte: I thought it was awesome!

Eric: You all did awesome! Charlotte, you have a beautiful singing voice!

Charlotte: Awe, thank you!

Geoff: Yeah, it’s a good thing we got you to join us!

Charlotte: Why do you say that?

Eric: Ken York is why.

Charlotte: What about Ken?

Eric: Do you wanna know why he calls himself and his friend Billy the ‘Stage Frighteners?’

Charlotte: Why?

Geoff: He’s always wanted to be a leader of a large band, like a conductor or some sort.

Eli: Are you serious?

Genevieve: Yes! And After he was rejected by some fellow students who had their own band, he decided to make his own band and show them that he was going to be the best guitarist and the best performer they had ever seen!

Charlotte: Oh my, gosh.

Eric: Ken is a nice guy, don’t get me wrong, but he hates failing or being lower than anyone.

Eli: It seems that way for everyone if you ask me.

Eric: Well I didn’t ask for your opinion, Elle.

Eli: It’s Eli.

Charlotte: Guys, don’t start! We’re here to have fun, not to act ‘cool’ and starting fights.

Eli: Let’s just go Charlotte. *starts walking away from Eric and the Orchestrators*

Charlotte: Okay. I’ll see you guys tomorrow. *walks away with Eli*

Eric: That Eli kid is seriously irritating me.

Geoff: Is that because you’re jealous?

Eric: Shut up, Geoff. *walks away from Geoff and Genevieve*

Genevieve: He’s definitely jealous.

Geoff: Oh yeah.

Charlotte: Hey, are you okay?

Eli: Yeah, I’m totally fine. Why?

Charlotte: Because Eric was being a jerk to you!
Eli: Yeah, I know he was. I can’t really do anything about it though except ignore him.

Charlotte: You could stand up to him!

Eli: And risk starting another fight? I’m not taking any chances.

Charlotte: You still can’t just let him do that!

Eli: Trust me. There are consequences for making bad choices. And I don’t want to be the one to make him suffer those consequences.
Charlotte: Okay.

Eli: And besides, we’ve got the rest of the week to try and make up for it.

Charlotte: See? You’re already looking on the bright side.

Eli: Speaking of which, we’d better head off to bed. I have a feeling we’re going to be getting up pretty early in the morning.

Charlotte: If we are then, I’m going to go to bed, like, now, so… *chuckles*

Eli: *chuckles* Okay, I’m going to go back to my cabin and sleep.

Charlotte: Okay. *walks up to Eli and gives him a hug*

Eli: *stands still momentarily, then hugs Charlotte back*

Both: *stop hugging*

Charlotte: I’ll see you tomorrow. Bye!

Eli: Bye.

Both: *walk away from each other to cabin rooms*
