Stuart was with Victor again.
It had been several weeks, but Victor was still in hospital, and Stuart could see that he was feeling poorly.
A doctor entered the room.
“I’m Dr Barker. Let’s look at how you’re doing. I’ve got your DNA results. They are private, which means that I have to present them to you one by one.”
Victor nodded complicitly.
Then Dr Barker said to Stuart: “Come with me to my consulting rooms.”
Stuart stood up and readied himself. He was clearly showing signs of strain.
Dr Barker led the way out of the ward to his consulting rooms.
“We’ve got your DNA, and I’ll tell you what I know. I don’t know how you feel about this, but I need to tell you that you’re an illegitimate child. Victor is your father.
Stuart was shocked. More of his past had been revealed, partly thanks to Victor Stainton and the doctor.
“I think Jako said my parents were killed and my sister died at an orphanage.”
Dr Barker said: “I don’t know about that.”
