Her impish smile practically made his knees buckle as he stood staring at her like some neanderthal idiot, willing his head to nod yes or his lips to move, to say yes, but nothing happened. Instead, he just stood there jiggling the change in his pocket, grinning. At least he hoped he was grinning.
“I’ll take that look, whatever it might be, to be a yes.” She laughed. “See you at eight.” She turned and walked away, the sway of her hips hypnotizing him, intoxicating him, her words at last breaking through, bringing him back to reality. “And don’t forget our deal!” she yelled over her shoulder.
What deal? he thought, then turned to get ready for – what?
