Lauren L. Garcia has been a storyteller all her life. She started writing stories at the age of twelve; two decades and over two million words later, she shows no sign of stopping. Her epic fantasy novel Catalyst Moon: Incursion won Inkitt’s Writing Contest Dreamlands and was selected to be published by Inkitt.
I dearly wanted to create my own world, a place where I could let my imagination run wild.
She describes her work as extremely character-driven in that her characters motivate the heart and soul of her stories. Catalyst Moon first took shape in 2012. Since then, Lauren has re-worked the story several times breathing new air into it with every revision.
Catalyst Moon tells the story of Kali, a crippled mage who travels to Whitewater City to meet a healer. When her sentinel escort is killed by mysterious bandits, she is left in the company of a single sentinel, Stonewall, a man with nothing left but his chosen name and his faith in the gods. Together, they must survive demonic creatures, bloodthirsty nomads, and a strange magic never seen before. The novel has been described as “rich in characters, history and magic,” and has cultivated a huge fan base.
In addition to Catalyst Moon: Incursion and its subsequent stories, (titled Breach, Storm, and Surrender), she has several more stories outlined, taking place at various points in world history, with more ideas in the awnings. Her dream is to create a fantasy world of dazzling breadth.
You can still read Catalyst Moon: Incursion for free on the Inkitt site until the novel is officially published.
