E.R. Knight has been on our Ones To Watch radar for some time, her books are growing increasingly popular amongst her readers, and she’s even been scouted by our sister app, GALATEA (Download: iOS/Google) the immersive reading experience. Let’s meet E.R Knight aka Rose and find out a bit more about her!

Congratulations Rose on your continued success on Inkitt!
We would all love to know more about you and the way you work.

So let’s delve right in, what books are you currently working on?

I’m really excited to see the progress that’s possible for an author on a platform like Inkitt! Currently, I’m working on three books, Her Irksome Admirer, Her Possessive Blackguard along with Stolen Hearts which are part of the Love and Lust Series and the Teenage Dreams Series respectively.

Tell us your favourite character from one of your books and why?

Oh that’s a hard one! I love them all. But if I have to pick my favorite it would have to be Zara, from Her Irksome Admirer. I love Zara because while I always showcase both flaws and strengths in every character that I write about, I think Zara displays some personal strengths I adore- she’s strong, independent, loyal and at the same time, lovely, sweet and has a soft heart.

How many books have you written? And which is your favourite?

I’ve written two complete books, Maybe Yours and Her perfect Rebound of course, I’m still working on a couple of others. Out of the two, Her Perfect Rebound is my all-time favorite ♥

Where do you find your inspiration?

I think for me, it comes from being such a voracious reader since my early childhood and having a vivid imagination. I absolutely love reading because it transports me to a completely new and beautiful world each time, it’s an incredible feeling. Now I write because I want other readers to experience my stories as I had the fortune of doing the same through someone else.

How much time do you dedicate to writing and is there a place you go that influences you?

I dedicate a couple of hours to writing every week, depending on my schedule. I’m aiming to increasing the time period consistently because I want to get better and I’ve just completed Graduate school. While I don’t have a particular place that influences me, I most definitely prefer my room, simply because I think I get my best work done there.

When did you first realise you wanted to be an author and how do you feel you have developed since then?

I began writing as a pastime when I was a junior in university. I was surprised when I received a good response. That was when I began making an effort to improve my skills and after working on it variably, since I got busy with classes and school, I think I’ve covered some ground there. Particularly, when I write today, I’m able to evoke the feelings I want to, in my narration. I’ve also gotten better at handling another aspect to writing, as in understanding that not everyone will like my work. I value the ones that do and I’m always open to constructive criticism. In a few years, I aim to pursue writing full time and not irregularly.

What is your favourite book of all time? Or first book that really resonated with you?

I have a ton of books that I absolutely love and so many favorite authors like Enid Blyton, Christine Feehan, Jonathan Stroud, J.K. Rowling, Danielle Trussoni, Ella Goode, Joel Osteen… it’s difficult to pick just one. But if I have to choose, the first book that really moved me was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. That book stayed with me for a long long time.

What do you get up to when you aren’t writing?

When I’m not writing, I’m usually reading. I enjoy hanging out with friends and family, traveling, exploring hidden gems in bookstores, watching a good movie or just simply Netflix. I love making new friends, trying different cuisines and I also dare to cook on occasions!
