Hi Inkers, here’s the book deal. We are fast approaching our 20th book launch, and we’ve come to realize that we’ve been rather tight-lipped about announcements and haven’t been sharing enough with you, our readers, once a book is selected for publication. When we sign a new author, we dive from the exhilarating first phone call – where we deliver the good news – straight into the creative processes that go into publishing the work.
That’s all good and well, however, we believe that our readers deserve to be informed from the the get-go, after all, you’re the ones who made this happen. We’re publishing these books because so many of you enjoyed reading them.
So without further ado, let’s jump right into welcoming our newest author, Alena Des, author of Mated to the Werewolf King who just signed her publishing contract, thus officially becoming Inkitt’s newest represented author. A round of applause and our congratulations go out to her and her epic fans.
Get to know Alena Des
Originally from Turkey, now residing in the U.S., Alena is the youngest of three sisters and has three nephews and one niece, always keeping her energy levels at an all time high and her creativity constantly fueled and sparked.
The idea of Mated to the Werewolf King came to Alena during a stressful period in her life. The book came as a way to escape the disarray of daily pressure, obligations of her job and the at-the-time monotonous real world struggles that surrounded her.
Writing this book has meant she could escape reality and be in a world she had created and was in control of. By the time the book was finished, Alena also regained control of her real life, realizing that writing had made her stronger and she finally believed in herself and her abilities.
Here’s what you need to know about Alena. If you ever want to take her rock climbing, she is going to give you quite the experience, as she is terrified of heights. Which however, did not stop her from once signing up for a climbing track in Ecuador, where she had to weather (pun intended) slippery slopes, her guide losing his balance and falling, and a lot of scared facial expressions that will be forever engraved in her memory. Moral of the story is that Alena does not easily back down and she’ll welcome obstacles any day for a chance to overcome her fears.
Her favorite music genre is alternative rock, she loves sci-fi movies – you know, those mind-bending ones – and thrillers! She’s also into murder mysteries of all kinds and is currently hooked on watching Supernatural.
We also asked Alena what the three things were that instantly came to her mind after getting offered the publishing deal from Inkitt:
“I couldn’t believe I was going to be a professional author. And, I thought I could now keep writing without feeling bad about it, without feeling I should instead be doing my work. Lastly, I thought, wait till I tell my friends and family.”
Here’s the synopsis of Mated to the Werewolf King:
Annabelle finds out that she is not the real daughter of the Alpha in her werewolf pack.
As the world she knows comes collapsing down, she has to hide from the Demon Lord who is determined to find her. Will the Werewolf King yield to the Demon Lord’s ultimatum and give her to the enemy or will she be the cause of a looming war between the two species? More importantly, who is Belle and what does the Demon Lord want with her?
Belle’s meeting with the Werewolf King does not go very well, she finds him to be an arrogant bastard! Worse still, he wants nothing to do with her.
“Why do I feel you’re my mate? What have you done to me? – bellowed the King.
“How do you know I am not your mate?” I asked, growling in frustration. I did not want to be his mate any more than he wanted me to be his, but his cocky attitude was getting to me.
“Because you are not even a werewolf,” he grunted, his black irises shimmering dangerously.
“You’re a liar,” I screamed not caring that I was talking to the most lethal creature in the world.
He roared in laughter, the sound of which irritated the hell out of me. Aargh! How I wanted to rip his heart out even as I wanted to glue my body to his and stay there forever, basking in his scent. I was so mad that I wanted to show him how wrong he was. Soon, he would be sorry, he would kneel and beg for my forgiveness. The mental image of him on his knees made my lips twitch with amusement. I started phasing out to my wolf form, and when I stood in all my glory, I prowled and preened to show off my beautiful fur.
He laughed even harder.
I simply wanted to kill him. Yes, my wolf was small, but it existed. Why the hell wasn’t he on his knees then?
“As I said, you’re not a werewolf,” he repeated.
Huh, what did he mean by that?
Kings Series
One of the most anticipated questions of many – will there be more books?
Yes, the Kings Series already has a sequel The Warlock’s Nemesis where readers will get to explore the supporting characters introduced in the first book a little further, as a lot of people had expressed an interest in reading more about them.
There’s more. Alena just finished the third and final installment of the series, Heartless, bringing a legendary ending to the saga.
Trust us, you don’t want to miss this mythical trilogy.
Mated to the Werewolf King is set to launch Aug 2, 2017.
