We’re excited to feature an exclusive interview with Daphne Anders, the passionate storyteller behind Shades of Fire, now officially published on Galatea! Daphne’s journey from Galatea reader to Galatea author is a beautiful full-circle moment. In this inspiring interview, she shares what sparked her love for writing, how she balanced her creative dreams with work and grad school, and the powerful message she hopes readers—especially women—will take away from her stories.
On becoming an author
Ever since I was a child I dreamed of writing. What sparked my reemergence into storytelling was reading stories on Galatea. Before I was a Galatea author, I was a Galatea user. I read two books in particular that inspired me to share my novels in a public setting.
Finding Inkitt
I remember googling ‘how to become a Galatea author.’ Inkitt was the first platform I ever shared to and the best one to date.
The thrill of reader connection
It’s surreal when people write that I have potential to be a bestselling author, that they want to see my books in print, and that my stories should go to Galatea. I’m honored to be given compliments of this magnitude.

The moment everything changed
I found out in August I was going to be a Galatea author.
I remember turning to my fiancée and telling him the happy news. I felt overwhelmed with happiness, like my hard work was paying off.
I felt like I was living in a dream.
Advice to aspiring authors
DON’T. GIVE. UP.
Write anything and everything that you dream up. Surround yourself with other like-minded authors that can help support you with helpful feedback and criticism.
Balancing the dream
Balancing working a full-time job while in school for my graduate degree has been a barrier, but I’ve been working past it since writing is my passion.
What she hopes readers take away
I want women especially to take away that you can do anything you set your mind to. Do not allow society to put you in a cage. Do not allow men to put you in a cage. Remain steadfast in your convictions, your independence, and your principles. Good always defeats evil.
