Romance fans, get ready—Taming Theo by Mira Matic has officially launched on Galatea, and it’s everything you’ve been waiting for. In this exclusive interview, Mira opens up about her journey from teenage poetry and heartbreak over Anna Karenina to writing the kind of emotionally rich, character-driven stories that leave readers breathless — but always with a happy ending.

A self-proclaimed pantser who lets her vivid characters lead the way, Mira shares how discovering Inkitt changed her path, how Galatea transformed her life during a dark time, and why she believes love can truly save the world.

Inkitt: What inspired you to become an author?

Mira: I started writing poetry at a very young age and found success in competitions. Then at fifteen, I discovered Anna Karenina, which broke my heart with its tragic ending. That’s one of the reasons I only write stories with happy endings now.

Inkitt: How did you discover the Inkitt platform?

Mira: I was searching for romance stories that I could both read and interact with the writers. Soon after joining, I began my first romance story which gained a lot of attention in the comments section. I wouldn’t have completed that first story without Inkitt and the readers motivating me.

Inkitt: What was it like seeing your story gain traction?

Mira: It felt like a dream but also a little scary. I always waited for someone to leave a negative review. When it finally happened, it didn’t shake my world as expected. Instead, it made me more attentive to readers’ emotions, which helped enhance my stories.

Mira Matic, author on Inkitt and Galatea

Inkitt: What makes Inkitt unique for writers?

Mira: We create stories with readers, not just for readers. Every reader is an essential part of the process.

Inkitt: How did you feel when you found out you would be a Galatea author?

Mira: Unbelievable. I was going through a very bad period in my life when the email from the Galatea team arrived. It really changed my life.

Inkitt: What are you most excited about readers seeing in your work?

Mira: The emotions. My stories are character-driven, and I write only when I have deep inspiration and know exactly who the people I want to portray are. I create a delicate web of emotions between characters.

Inkitt: What’s your advice for Inkitt authors hoping to sign with Galatea?

Mira: Avoid leaving stories unfinished. The best way to cultivate loyal readers is to be consistent and complete your story in a reasonable timeframe. I won’t begin a new story unless I’m confident I can finish it within two months.

Inkitt: Are you a plotter or a pantser?

Mira: True and true pantser. I think extensively about the story before starting. I create the whole world in my head, but I don’t outline. The moment I start writing is when I put the first line on paper.

Inkitt: How do you develop your characters?

Mira: They always surprise me. I imagine them so vividly that sometimes it feels like they lead the story.

Inkitt: What part of the writing process do you enjoy most?

Mira: A fresh new beginning. I love the moment after a long period of thinking when everything falls into place and I know it’s time to start a new story. That’s the biggest excitement.

Inkitt: What recurring message do you hope readers take from your stories?

Mira: That love will save the world. 😊
