Every year on April 27th, people celebrate National Tell A Story Day. It’s a day to enjoy stories. You can read them, write them, or tell them out loud. The goal is to share stories with others!
What Is National Tell A Story Day?
The goal of National Tell A Story Day is to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to share stories. Whether you’re reading a favorite book or creating a new tale from your imagination, the important part is sharing.
The idea is simple: tell a story. It can be something made up or a real memory. Anyone can join, no matter their age
A Short History
National Tell A Story Day was founded by entrepreneur George Rafeedie, with the first observance taking place in 2009. His goal was to celebrate the incredible power of storytelling — a way to connect, inspire, and motivate people across all walks of life.
Long before stories were written down, they were shared aloud in homes, villages, and celebrations. Today, storytelling continues through books, blogs, and platforms like Inkitt, reaching more people than ever.
Everyone has a story worth telling, no matter where they come from. Sharing these stories builds connections, sparks change, and reminds us that storytelling is one of the most powerful forces we have.
