Chapter 1
It’s the last week of summer vacation. There is a big expo held every year for the community known as World of Games. People from all over the world came to this once in a year event. Only inviting the biggest names in the gaming community. The building was filled with little knickknacks and activities, some were gaming stations while others just booths of people cosplaying as their favorite characters. Being a very lively scene as is, in front of it all was a small combined auditorium. Each chair with a designated number on it from 1 to 500.
Xavier: THIS PLACE IS FUCKING AWESOME!
Xavier Diggons is freshman in high school this starting school year. Wearing his signature purple hat with orange horns on it. He threw on top of his regular clothes or any clothes he feels good in. Xavier is a upcoming streamer, coming in at 2,500 just from 2 months of starting. Being popular in his region for being able to adapt to most games within a matter of minutes. From first person shooters, all the way to single player horror games you name it. So he knew he deserved a spot this year. He had a small crowd around him that annoyed him, he thought to himself.
Xavier: (I finally made it huh… a lot more people than I expected.)
Going back to the room, the lights dimmed down as over the intercom said. “Take your seats the award ceremony shall start soon.”
Xavier smiled as this was a perfect opportunity to slip away from his crowd with an excuse to find a seat. Looking around for his seat number he spotted some well known faces; Jericho “The Top Gun”, Alyssa “Horror fiend”, John “Headstart”, and a few more without mention. Xavier wanted to make a good impression. He felt as if he was in the big leagues now. One of the greatest to touch the internet.
The voice over the intercom came back after most people were in their chairs. “Welcome back to the 23rd Annual World of Games! Where we pass out the awards that we have deemed to most of the people that came today. We have a lot planned this evening so let’s get the ball rolling shall we?”
The crowd cheered, everyone clearly excited to be there and wondered what’s gonna happen after the awards. Xavier wasn’t very interested in the awards, he knew it was his first year ever attending so that probably meant he wasn’t getting one-
Over the intercom was announced “Xavier Diggons!” The crowd roared as usual but this time it went quiet a lot quicker than the others. Xavier still in his seat was flabbergasted. After hearing one of his followers telling him to stand, He did so and the spotlight went to him next as a usher walked from the stage to hand him his Envelope. Taking it and nodding in appreciation, he sat down. Opening the envelope to read the award, he laughed a little in his disbelief.
Xavier: Xavier Diggons “The Raging Mutt” fastest viewer growth… what do they mean Mutt?
After all the awards were given out Xavier stayed seated for the presentations of the new games coming out. He kept looking at the award, thinking to himself.
Xavier: (What the hell, I’m not a Mutt.. I’m a purebred pit bull if I’m anything. Anyways, I can’t start my next school year with my nickname “Raging Mutt”. That’s gonna kill my street cred before I even walk through the door.. ugh- my name is XD, I will be the best in every game.)
Thinking about this title while the presentations continued. “And now for our final presentation of the night, Something new. Something extraordinary. Something.. small? BRAWLINGS!! By NexGen”
The stage up front went dark for a few moments, then the lights came back. There was a tall lengthy white male in the center of the stage sitting in a foldable chair. He is wearing an all black suit while also looking well groomed.
Mr. Foundman: Hello ladies and gents… I’m Scott Foundman, founder of what you guys know as NexGen. NexGen has been powering your house for decades. From Microwaves and toasters all the way to these giant monitors behind me today.
On the screens behind him, there was flashes and pictures going along with what he was talking about.
Mr. Foundman: We have been making leaps in today’s technology as we know it. For the past few years we have been working with the military on some projects that has helped boost the performance of their soldiers. It’s called “BRAWLINGS”….
Mr. Foundman: Brawlings are small mini figures you use to fight one another. How can that help the soldiers? I’m glad someone asked. It helps them think of strategies, besides in this new day and age times are always changing. It helps build confidence and teamwork between one another. And in this case it also helps with their physical combat as well.
Mr. Foundman: BRAWLINGS are able to link to your consciousness and after that their world is yours. Meaning you see what they see, if you try to move the Brawling then you’ll have to act like you are using your actual body… it’s like putting on a knights armor, but you are shrunk down to a size of 4 inches average.
The crowd mumbled, some good but most of them were skeptical about it. To Xavier it sounded sketchy, but in return it intrigued him even more.
Mr. Foundman: Now to be clear you are not actually shrinking it’s your mind linking into the Brawling. Now each Brawling is different, some can look different as in size height or weight but the big kicker is their ability. Each Human when being linked to their Brawling will have their DNA scanned. Why? To pick the ability that fits you the most. Wether that’s the ability to fly, run at super sonic speed, or even control small amounts of fire! There are No Duplicates of powers so each person stands out differently than the next. What’s the point of this? Well it’s just for the economy to grow. It gives everyone the chance to take the step-… it gives everyone a chance to learn how to fight, or maybe even just socialize. Some people can make friends and make groups for people to join, or they can make their own story. The possibilities and uses are endless, hell make your own bedtime story if you want.
Mr: Foundman: The goal of Brawlings is to have as much fun as you can. But Brawlings have a rating system, Since they were made for military purposes and now going public soon, each bot will have a rating. In layman terms, the more you win in fights the higher your rating goes up and vice versa if you lose. So being the strongest is what I made them for…
The room got darker and only one light shined directly onto Mr.Foundman. Every one watched him with a light in their eye being tempted to know more.
Mr. Foundman: Become number one. Become the best. Fight to your hearts content. Only you can decide the date your your Brawling story. At the end of every year the brawling with the highest rating will receive a prize from NexGen themselves. Wether that’s prize money, or even a new weapon… Anyways that’s my time here. If you wanna know more there is a booth outside that is giving more details and even selling Brawlings early to content creators. So thank you for your time having me here, and may you become King of the Brawlings.
Mr. Foundman walked off the stage. Some clapped but most just talked about how it seemed cool and a great opportunity. Xavier seen it as a challenge. He could feel the rush already. His hands dug into his thighs. Xavier’s career was known for starting finishing and being the best at the game he plays, So a game everyone has a fresh start on seemed perfect to dominate and stay on top. But more importantly, he wanted the title of King. He felt as if he needed that title and rule over everything.
After a while Xavier got up to talk to his crew, they decided to stand in line before it got to long to get the pamphlet. Thanking their kindness he nodded them off. By the time Xavier had to leave it was sunset. He had to catch the train home it was an hour away so it would give him time to read up on it before he got home.
