Day 1: God will be with you
Scripture of Focus: Isaiah 43 vs 1-4
Prayer Focus: Trusting God in Difficult Times
Isaiah 43:1-4 KJV
1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
Discussion
Hard times are inevitable; it is not "if" we will face them but a matter of "when" we will face them. The greatest part about this though is that God promises to be with us during these times.
In verse 2 we are assured that God is not promising His presence only when major things happens but with the simple day to day issues too. Notice that after the text says water ... which could be oceans, lakes, lagoons and seas it goes to specify rivers. It is a known fact that river are usually easier to navigate and are considered a safer body of water to interact with. So the text singling it out is profound.
It is to assure us that God wants to take care of the minor things that impacts us too; the little things we would think he does not care about He wants us to give to him. He wants us to cast ALL our cares upon him because He genuinely cares about the very minute details of our lives.
As the text moves into verse 3 God establishes, for our comfort, who He is. The dominion He carries and the fact that He is willing to give it up for each of us. This shows the value God places on you and me. He created us, he died to redeem us and everyday He is interceding to save us.
God has placed great value on us, we are His precious gems, His crowned jewels and His most prized possessions. Knowing this fact should bring us to a place where we place greater value on ourselves knowing that the king of kings love us.
I encourage you today to trust God in your difficult times as He is willing to take care of all your cares.
