Chapter 1: One night stand
Scarlet's POV
Fuck! What the? My head is pounding like hell. Shit, where am I? The unknown surroundings are scaring me. I felt an unknown hand gliding down the back of my waist, bringing me back into his arms. His face is hidden in the pillow, facing the wall on the opposite side. My whole body is sore, especially between my legs. It hurts.
I had a wild night, by the look of it. It aches like hell. I bit my lip to avoid the pain I was feeling. I have to leave now. I managed to stand up, only to stumble a few steps. This man has turned my body into jelly, the one with multiple bite marks. Oh God. I can't even walk properly.
I collect my clothes and go inside the restroom to change. The moment I looked into the mirror, it turned into pure horror. Shit, what has this man done to me? I have multiple swollen purple hickeys down my neck to my breast to my navel, travelling to my inner thighs.
A shiver rolled down my spine. I need to leave now before he wakes up. I quickly change my clothes and freshen up a little. I quickly sneak out to see if he is awake.
Hush.
He's asleep. I step out of the room and leave quickly.
“Hell, bitch! Where were you last night? I was looking for you everywhere! But seeing you now… I guess I was worrying for nothing. Looks like someone had a busy and wild night,” Anna exclaims, her gaze zeroing in on my neck. I tried covering it, but it didn’t work. Typical Anna; she notices everything.
And, well, she’s not one to talk. She looks just as messed up. Her hair is dishevelled, and there’s this smug, post-hookup glow about her.
“Judging by your look, I’d say you got lucky too. What’s with all the noise? Is someone in there?” Anna knocks on her apartment door before standing beside me with a knowing smirk.
“Should I even ask… or?” I smirk back. This girl is too wild for her own good. But I have something more important to talk about.
“Okay, listen. Leaving last night aside, I have something to tell you,” I say, trying to sound serious. Her brows furrow in confusion, but before I can continue, she interrupts me.
“Oh my God… are you pregnant?!” She practically screams.
“For God’s sake, Anna, no! Do you remember the dream job I told you about?”
Her eyes widen. “Yeah?”
“I got in for the Interview!” I squeal, unable to contain my excitement. She gasps dramatically.
“Oh my God, you got in?! I’m so freaking happy for you! But seriously, let’s talk about last night first. Girl, you look wrecked! And wait, wait...you finally had a one-night stand! You’ve always wanted to try that, and now you've done it. So… how was it? Come on, tell me, how does it feel to finally know what being properly fucked is like?”
I roll my eyes, but she’s on a roll.
“Look at you! Your body is covered in love bites. You must’ve had a wild night. Damn, you should’ve invited me! I wouldn’t have minded joining in, you know? Imagine your first time being with your best friend and some hot stranger....how cool would that have been, huh?”
“Anna, stop!” I laugh, shoving her lightly. She’s too much sometimes.
“Okay, okay. Fine. But seriously, do you have anything appropriate to wear for your first day at work? Your wardrobe is ancient. Like, seriously, teenage girl vibes. We need to go shopping.”
“I have clothes!” I protest. “I was thinking of wearing that black pencil skirt with the black top and a cardigan.”
Anna stares at me like I’ve lost my mind. “A cardigan? Really? Girl, you just got laid for the first time, raised your standards, and now you want to wear a cardigan? No way. We’re going shopping. No arguments.”
I sigh in defeat. There’s no point arguing with Anna when she’s like this. “Fine, but can I at least take a shower first?”
“Please do. You reek of last night. Go freshen up while I get us some coffee. Then we’ll hit the mall and have a proper girls’ day out. Mama loves you, babe!”
I roll my eyes again but smile. That’s Anna for you...dramatic, wild, but always by my side.
“Hey, what do you think of this purple one? I think it looks good. I mean, seriously, how will it look on me? I need to look perfect tomorrow... first impressions matter, and I can’t mess it up,” I say, holding up the dress with hopeful eyes.
“Okay, okay, calm down!” Anna chuckles, crossing her arms. “Let me see. Hmm… this one looks decent on you, but girl, I swear, your fashion sense is prehistoric. You’re not some high schooler anymore. We really need to work on that.” She gives me a playful glare.
“Geez, fine! Just pick something proper. I don’t want to look like a disaster tomorrow, okay?” I plead.
Anna grins mischievously. “Relax, girl. I’ll pick out something killer for you. And you seriously need to stop hoarding those ancient cardigans and frumpy tops. Think of this as my treat for your dream job! Oh, how about this one?” She pulls out a sleek black dress with matching shorts.
“Look at this! The shorts will show off your legs, and trust me, they’ll have people drooling over you tomorrow. Plus, that fitted top? Exquisite. You’ll turn heads for sure.”
I roll my eyes but can’t help the smile tugging at my lips. “Fine. Just… nothing too over-the-top, okay? I just want to look professional, not like I’m hitting a nightclub.”
Anna shrugs, a wicked gleam in her eyes. “Girl, trust me, you’ll look stunning. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll catch your boss’s eye. Who knows? A little flirtation never hurt anyone!”
“Ugh, stop it already!” I groan, throwing a shirt at her. “I heard he is old, probably in his fifties or something. So, no, I’m not trying to ‘catch his eye,’ thank you very much.”
“Jeez, fine. No boss-flirting, but we are fixing that wardrobe. You’ve got to ditch the cotton bras and granny panties too. Seriously, girl, upgrade your lingerie!”
I sigh, knowing it’s pointless to argue. That’s Anna for you...wild, crazy, but always looking out for me. Sometimes I think if I were into girls, she’d be the one I’d date. She’s got this wild energy that somehow perfectly balances out my slightly uptight self.
“All right, all right. Let’s finish this up. What’s for dinner? I’m starving.”
“Takeout! I got some Japanese food. Now, go try those outfits, and after that, we’ll grab some coffee and call it a day.”
I smile as I head into the changing room, feeling grateful for having Anna in my life. She might be over-the-top sometimes, but she’s always got my back. As for tomorrow? I just hope it all goes well. No drama, no disasters...just a smooth day for the Interview. That’s all I ask for.
