Origins

The harsh glow of the computer screen cast shadows across Min Yoongi’s face as he slumped in his office chair, fingers tapping anxiously on the keyboard. Papers were scattered haphazardly across his desk, a testament to the chaos that had consumed his normally organized workspace. With a deep furrow creasing his brow, he stared intently at the financial reports displayed on the monitor, each number blurring into a daunting blur of red.

Yoongi’s phone buzzed insistently, a harsh interruption to the heavy silence of the room. He glanced at the caller ID before hesitantly answering.

“Hello?” His voice was clipped, betraying the strain he was under.

“Yoongi, it’s Jimin. Have you seen the latest figures? We’re bleeding money here!” The urgency in Jimin’s voice matched Yoongi’s own sense of panic.

“I know, Jimin. I’m looking at them right now,” Yoongi replied, his tone weary.

“We need to do something, and fast. The investors are getting restless. They’re talking about pulling out if we don’t turn this around soon,” Jimin continued, the worry evident in his voice.

Yoongi ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his movements. “I’m well aware of the situation, Jimin. I’m doing everything I can to salvage this project, but it’s not looking good.”

“We can’t afford to fail, Yoongi. This is our biggest investment yet, and if it goes under, it could ruin us,” Jimin insisted, his tone pleading.

“I know, Jimin. Believe me, I know,” Yoongi muttered, his voice tinged with resignation.

The line went silent for a moment, the weight of their conversation hanging heavily in the air. Yoongi closed his eyes, willing himself to find a solution to the mess he found himself in.

“We’ll figure this out, Yoongi. We always do,” Jimin finally said, a note of determination creeping into his voice.

“I hope you’re right, Jimin. I really do,” Yoongi replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

With a heavy sigh, Yoongi ended the call and leaned back in his chair, his mind racing with thoughts of impending failure.

“Yoongi, it’s Hoseok. I’ve got some news,” Hoseok’s voice crackled through the phone, a mix of urgency and excitement.

Yoongi’s heart skipped a beat, hope flickering in the darkness of his despair. “What is it, Hoseok?”

“There’s a potential buyer for the project. Y/L/N Corporation,” Hoseok’s words hung in the air, a glimmer of possibility amidst the sea of uncertainty.

Yoongi’s breath caught in his throat as he processed the information. Y/L/N Corporation was a formidable force in the industry, known for their shrewd business tactics and formidable negotiation skills. While their involvement could potentially save the project from ruin, it also brought with it a new set of challenges.

“That’s... that’s great news, Hoseok,” Yoongi managed to force the words past the lump in his throat, relief flooding through him like a tidal wave.

“It is, but there’s a catch,” Hoseok’s voice sobered, the weight of the situation evident in his tone.

Yoongi’s heart sank, the fleeting hope extinguished by the harsh reality of their predicament. “What catch?”

“They’re not on the best of terms with us. There’s some bad blood between our companies, and negotiations are bound to be tough,” Hoseok explained, his voice tinged with concern.

Yoongi ran a hand through his hair, frustration evident in his movements. “Of course there is. Why would anything ever be easy?”

“We’ll have to tread carefully, Yoongi. This could be our last chance to salvage the project,” Hoseok cautioned, his voice filled with urgency.

“I know, Hoseok. I’ll do whatever it takes,” Yoongi replied, determination burning in his eyes.

The line went silent for a moment, the weight of their conversation hanging heavily in the air. Yoongi closed his eyes, steeling himself for the battle ahead.

“We’ll figure this out, Yoongi. We always do,” Hoseok finally said, a note of reassurance creeping into his voice.

“I hope you’re right, Hoseok. I really do,” Yoongi muttered, his voice barely above a whisper.

With a heavy sigh, Yoongi ended the call and leaned back in his chair, his mind racing with thoughts of impending negotiations and the daunting task of reconciling with their potential savior.

The atmosphere in Min Yoongi’s office was tense as he sat at his desk, surrounded by the clutter of papers and the glow of his computer screen. His thoughts were consumed by the looming negotiations with Y/L/N Corporation, a potential lifeline for his struggling project. However, before he could fully delve into strategizing, the door to his office swung open with a flourish, and his father, Min Junho, strode in with an air of self-importance.

“Yoongi, get up! We’re going to Y/L/N’s Corporation,” Junho announced with a triumphant grin, his voice booming through the room.

Yoongi sighed inwardly, steeling himself for the inevitable clash that would ensue. His father had a knack for exacerbating tense situations, often making matters worse without even realizing it. With a resigned expression, Yoongi rose from his chair and followed his father out of the office, bracing himself for what was to come.

As they made their way to Y/L/N Corporation, Yoongi couldn’t help but feel a sense of apprehension gnawing at him. He knew that his father’s overbearing presence could potentially derail their delicate negotiations, and he silently prayed for a miracle to salvage the situation.

Upon arriving at Y/L/N Corporation’s sleek headquarters, Yoongi and his father were greeted by a stern-faced receptionist who directed them to the conference room where the negotiations were set to take place. Yoongi’s heart pounded in his chest as they entered the room, his nerves on edge as he prepared to face the formidable representatives of Y/L/N Corporation.

As the negotiations got underway, Yoongi’s father wasted no time in asserting himself, his booming voice and overbearing demeanor dominating the conversation. Despite Yoongi’s attempts to steer the discussion in a more diplomatic direction, his father’s abrasive approach only served to antagonize the representatives from Y/L/N Corporation, causing tensions to escalate rapidly.

Yoongi sighed inwardly, knowing that his father’s reckless behavior was jeopardizing their chances of reaching a favorable agreement. He cast a weary glance at the representatives from Y/L/N Corporation, silently apologizing for his father’s behavior and desperately hoping to salvage the situation before it spiraled out of control.

As the negotiations dragged on, Yoongi couldn’t help but feel a sense of frustration mounting within him. He knew that his father’s interference was only making matters worse, and he silently cursed his own inability to rein him in. With a heavy heart, Yoongi resolved to do whatever it took to salvage the situation and secure a deal with Y/L/N Corporation, even if it meant confronting his father and asserting his authority once and for all.

As the negotiations continued, Min Yoongi found himself face-to-face with Y/N’s father, Mr. Y/L/N. The tension in the room was palpable as they exchanged polite greetings, but Yoongi couldn’t shake the feeling of apprehension gnawing at him. He knew that Y/N’s father held considerable influence over the outcome of their negotiations, and the wary smile on the older man’s face only served to heighten his unease.

“Mr. Min, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you,” Mr. Y/L/N began, his voice cordial but tinged with a hint of caution.

“The pleasure is mine, Mr. Y/L/N,” Yoongi replied, his tone respectful as he tried to gauge the older man’s intentions.

“I must say, I’ve heard a great deal about you and your project,” Mr. Y/L/N continued, his gaze piercing as he studied Yoongi intently.

Yoongi felt a bead of sweat form on his brow as he braced himself for what was to come. He knew that Y/N’s father was a shrewd businessman, and he couldn’t help but wonder what condition he would impose for the contract.

“I’m sure you’re aware of the potential benefits this project could bring to both our companies,” Yoongi replied, his voice steady despite the turmoil raging within him.

Mr. Y/L/N nodded slowly, his expression unreadable as he leaned back in his chair. “Indeed, but there is a condition for this contract, Mr. Min. One that I believe is crucial for the success of our partnership.”

Yoongi’s heart sank as he braced himself for the inevitable bombshell. He knew that the stakes were high, and the condition imposed by Y/N’s father could potentially make or break their deal.

“What condition?” Yoongi asked, his voice barely above a whisper as he waited anxiously for Mr. Y/L/N’s response.

Mr. Y/L/N’s smile widened slightly as he leaned forward, his eyes locking with Yoongi’s in a steely gaze. “I want you to marry my daughter, Y/N.”

Yoongi felt as though the air had been knocked out of him as he processed the older man’s words. Marry Y/N? The thought sent shockwaves through his mind, his heart pounding in his chest as he struggled to comprehend the gravity of the situation.

“I-I’m sorry, Mr. Y/L/N, but I’m not sure I understand,” Yoongi stammered, his voice trembling with disbelief.

Mr. Y/L/N’s smile never wavered as he fixed Yoongi with a knowing gaze. “Think it over, Mr. Min. But know that the future of our partnership hinges on your decision.”

With that, Mr. Y/L/N rose from his seat and exited the room, leaving Yoongi to grapple with the weight of his ultimatum.

As Mr. Y/L/N stood up to leave, the tension in the room was palpable. Yoongi felt as though the weight of the world was bearing down on him, his mind racing with conflicting thoughts and emotions. His heart pounded in his chest, and he struggled to catch his breath as he stared at Y/N’s father, his expression a mix of disbelief and resignation.

Before Yoongi could gather his thoughts and formulate a response, Min Junho stood up abruptly, his voice cutting through the heavy silence like a knife.

“We’ll accept it,” Junho declared, his tone firm and unwavering as he addressed Y/N’s father.

Yoongi felt as though the ground had been pulled out from under him, his senses reeling as he struggled to process his father’s words. He turned to Junho, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief, but his father’s expression remained impassive as he met Yoongi’s gaze with a steely determination.

“Father, what are you doing?” Yoongi managed to choke out, his voice trembling with emotion.

Junho turned to face his son, his features hardened as he squared his shoulders and fixed Yoongi with a stern glare. “We need this project, Yoongi. And if marrying Y/N is what it takes to secure it, then so be it.”

Yoongi felt a wave of numbness wash over him as he struggled to comprehend his father’s words. The thought of marrying Y/N was both exhilarating and terrifying, and he couldn’t shake the feeling of unease gnawing at him.

As Mr. Y/L/N turned to face Yoongi, his eyes gleaming with satisfaction, Yoongi licked his lips nervously, his throat dry and constricted. He knew that his decision would have far-reaching consequences, but in that moment, with the weight of his father’s expectations bearing down on him, he felt as though he had no choice.

“Yes,” Yoongi finally managed to croak out, his voice barely above a whisper as he met Mr. Y/L/N’s gaze with a mixture of resignation and determination. “I’ll marry Y/N.”

The words hung in the air like a heavy cloud, the gravity of Yoongi’s decision weighing heavily on him as he struggled to come to terms with the path that lay ahead.

As Mr. Y/L/N turned on his heels with a triumphant smirk, the air in the room seemed to thicken. The weight of the decision hung heavily on Min Yoongi as he watched Y/N’s father signal his secretary to bring in the necessary paperwork. The formality of the situation only served to intensify the surreal nature of what was unfolding.

The secretary entered the room, carrying a stack of documents that represented the binding contract of this unexpected arrangement. Mr. Y/L/N took the papers with a satisfied nod, his eyes glinting with a certain triumph. He gestured for Yoongi and Min Junho to sign the documents, sealing the fate of this arrangement.

As the pens scratched across the paper, Yoongi couldn’t shake the feeling that he was being led into a maze with no clear exit. The weight of the commitment pressed down on him, and he exchanged a hesitant glance with his father, silently acknowledging the gravity of the situation.

Once the formalities were concluded, Mr. Y/L/N cleared his throat, fixing both Min Yoongi and Min Junho with a piercing gaze.

“There’s one thing I want to make abundantly clear,” he began, his tone authoritative. “This arrangement is to be kept strictly between us. Y/N is not to know the true nature of this union. As far as she’s concerned, it’s an arranged marriage for the sake of our companies.”

Yoongi’s eyes widened in surprise at the stipulation. The realization sank in that Y/N was to be kept in the dark about the true motivations behind their impending marriage. He exchanged a glance with his father, and though neither of them spoke, an unspoken understanding passed between them.

“Understood,” Min Junho replied, his tone clipped.

Yoongi nodded in agreement, his mind racing with thoughts of how this revelation would impact Y/N. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of guilt and unease, knowing that the truth was being concealed from her.

With a final nod, Mr. Y/L/N left the room, leaving Yoongi and his father to grapple with the weight of the decision they had just made. The secretary quietly closed the door behind him, leaving an eerie silence in the wake of the unexpected turn of events.

As Yoongi’s gaze lingered on the closed door, he couldn’t shake the sinking feeling that this arrangement would alter the course of his life in ways he hadn’t anticipated.
