Cat caused insomnia
In the stillness of night, a soft purr breaks,
A phantom guest haunting my dreams,
With emerald eyes wide, and mischief at stake,
This cat—neither mine, yet it gleams.
Whiskers twitch in the gloom, a thief of the dawn,
As shadows stretch long, and the world lies at rest,
With each gentle pat, my resolve is withdrawn,
To chase after deadlines, I’m lucky to jest.
I scribble in notebooks, my thoughts spill like ink,
With moonlight as partner, I dance with the stars,
Yet, morning’s cruel whisper steals sleep from the brink,
And laughter in daylight leaves only the scars.
The sun rises high, but I’m burdened with dreams,
Heavy eyelids and thoughts that run wild;
How can one explain to a world that just seems
To slumber while I’m the night’s weary child?
Stumbling through hours like ghosts in the day,
Ignored by the faces that pass without care,
“Oh, how are you?” they ask, minds far away,
Yet aching bones speak of burdens they wear.
In whispers of twilight, the cat I don’t own
Is solace and chaos, my secret delight,
But when daybreak arrives, in shadows I’ve grown,
Left clutching the remnants of ink-stained night.
So I smile and I nod, but inside I’m a flood,
Of thoughts unspoken, of moments unseen,
While cloaked in the silence, I grapple with mud,
Of fatigue’s heavy grasp, where I’ve seldom been keen.
Let this be my ode to the wild midnight guest,
To the feline enigma that stirs me to write,
For though it steals sleep, there’s solace in stress
In chaos, we find what ignites us by night.
