Chapter 1 - Lockdown

NOTE: This is book 11 in the “My Mafia Madness” Series. Please make sure you read books 1 - 10 before beginning this one.

Alexa sat on the edge of the bed when she heard the frantic knocking at the bedroom door.

‘Knock-knock-knock!’

She frowned.

It was way too early for Dante to have arrived at the mansion… so who was at the door?

“Who is it?” she called out, rising from the bed and crossing the room to stand by the door.

“It’s Becky. Nicola sent me up here to keep an eye on you.” Becky explained from the other side of the door.

Trusting Becky, Alexa reached out and unlocked the door, opening it to reveal Becky standing there, along with four other henchmen.

“You four remain here.” Becky commanded them.

They moved into formation around the door without saying a word as Becky stepped into the bedroom and closed the door behind her, relocking it.

“What’s going on?” Alexa asked.

“Where’s Dante?”

“He’s on his way still.” Becky explained.

“Nicola told me to come up here and watch over you.”

Alexa suddenly panicked.

“Wait, what about Alessandro-” she began, but Becky cut in over her.

“-He’s safe. There are bodyguards watching over his nursery right now.” she explained.

Alexa let out a relieved sigh.

“Thank god.” she muttered.

“Were you having a shower or something?” Becky asked, pointing at her bathrobe.

Alexa looked to her bathrobe and replied.

“Oh, right. I should probably get dressed.” she agreed.

She handed Becky her phone with the text message still on the screen.

“Here. This is what I was sent.” the Donna explained.

Becky glanced down at it…

‘See you soon, princesspa.’

“Princesspa?” she asked, clearly not understanding Italian.

“What’s that?”

“It’s Italian for ‘princess’.” Alexa explained as she made her way over towards the walk-in-robe and began dressing herself.

She called out while changing to explain.

“There’s only one man I know who calls me that… Matteo.”

Becky frowned.

“It could have been someone else attempting to scare you.” she suggested, still holding the phone.

“Still, we should take it as a serious threat and lockdown just in case. Dante’s on his way home now so when he arrives, we can investigate this matter further.”

“I’m so over this shit!” Alexa cried out from the walk-in-robe.

“Why the hell can’t that bastard leave me alone?”

Becky didn’t know what to say in response, instead choosing to remain silent as the Donna finished changing.

When she was dressed in a long-sleeved shirt and jeans, Alexa reappeared and came back over to retrieve her phone.

She placed it down onto the bedside table and sat on the edge of the bed again.

Running her hands through her hair, she didn’t know what to do.

Becky could clearly see that the Donna was struggling at the moment and wanted to help out however she could.

Coming over to sit down on the bed beside Alexa, Becky spoke softly.

“We’ll get through this. You know that, right?”

Alexa bit her bottom lip, nodding her head and staring straight ahead in a daze.

“Dante’s one of the smartest men I’ve met. If there’s anyone who can handle someone like Matteo, it’s him.” Becky added in a supportive manner.

“I’m just scared. I’m so afraid.” Alexa admitted as tears formed in the corners of her eyes.

Becky frowned.

“What of?” she asked.

“Everything.” Alexa replied.

“This life… it’s so dangerous. And we’re bringing a second child into it. I’m so scared that something might happen to one of my children-”

Becky raised her hand, cutting Alexa off.

“-Nothing’s gonna happen to your children, Alexa. You have to stay strong, ok?” she pointed out.

Turning to face Becky, Alexa nodded her head as a stray tear rolled down her right cheek.

“Yeah, you’re right.” she agreed.

“I won’t let an asshole like Matteo ruin my life. He’s gone too far this time. It’s time to put him in his place for good.”

Becky smiled proudly at her Donna.

“That’s more like it!” she declared.

“Now, first thing’s first. We need to do a trace on the unknown number he’s using. Knowing him it’s probably a burner phone and untraceable, but we need to check just in case.”

Alexa nodded.

Just then a second text message sounded, alerting both women to glance at the phone.

“Who is it?” Becky asked.

Alexa looked at the ID of the caller.

“It’s Dante.” she replied with a sigh.

“He said he’s almost home.”

“Good.” Becky sighed.

“See? This is all under control. I’m sure Matteo’s just trying to scare you with the message. Don’t let him get to you, ok?”

Alexa nodded her head in agreement.

Shortly afterwards Dante and his convoy arrived home, with the Don headed straight up towards his bedroom to check on his wife.

He had been informed that his son was safe and under constant watch, so there was no reason to disturb his sleeping child.

Dante wanted to have a look at the text message and have his men trace its location.

Marching down the hallway towards the master bedroom, the four henchmen parted way for the Don as he came to the door and knocked twice.

‘Knock-knock…’

A voice called out from inside… but it wasn’t Alexa’s voice.

“Who’s there?” the voice asked.

Frowning, Dante spoke up, “Bella? Are you alright in there?”

Hearing the Don’s voice from the other side of the bedroom door, both Alexa and Becky stood from their seated positions, quickly crossing the length of the room to stand by the door.

“Dante!” Alexa cried out happily.

“I’m fine. Becky’s in here with me.”

She unlocked the door, allowing the Don access inside.

Dante stepped into the room, his eyes landing on Becky who stood beside Alexa with a soft smile.

“Sir.” she greeted Dante with a nod.

Dante nodded back at her in return.

“Is everything alright?” he asked, looking to Alexa now as she leapt forward and gave him a big hug.

“Here, show me the message.”

Holding out his hand, Dante took Alexa’s offered phone and unlocked it to see the new text message which had caused all this mess in the first place.

His eyes scanned the text for a moment before he lifted his gaze back up to meet Alexa’s.

“I’ll have the phone number traced.” he announced.

“You did the right thing, bella.

Alexa smiled in return.

“I’m glad you’re back.” she admitted, squeezing him tightly.

“I was so scared.”

Dante hated hearing that she was afraid, and all due to his menacing little brother.

“You’re safe now. I won’t allow anything to happen to you or Alessandro.” the Don announced.
