Summary

Jamarcus Colvin-better known as "Jay" to those close to him - built Eternal Canvas tattoo shop with his bare hands and blood-earned skill. Brooklyn-based with world-renowned fame, it's the crown jewel of the tattoo scene. Stoic, sharp, and untouchable, Jay doesn't chase clients or love. They come to him. But ink has memory. And so does the past. Old flames. Unfinished business. New obsessions. Between the chair and his personal life, Jay's world spins with hungry apprentices, jealous rivals, and women who don't just want his hands-they want to own him. In Eternal Canvas, skin is story. Power is personal. And love? That shit cuts deepest when it's permanent.

Scene 1: Welcome to Eternal

The buzzing of tattoo guns filled the air like a trap beat on loop—steady, rhythmic, hypnotic. The sharp scent of antiseptic blended with faint whiffs of incense burning in the corner. Eternal Canvas was alive.

Brooklyn sunlight spilled through the tall front windows, catching the matte black tile floor—smooth as obsidian, with gold inlays marking clean lines between stations.

Tattoo beds—or client chairs—were sleek black with gold-trimmed hardware, standing at each station like thrones: precise, polished, intentional. Everything was part of the experience. Each artist’s station was its own zone of wonderment —custom work, flash samples, sketches, stickers, signed photos, little shrines to their style. Each one telling a different story, a unique experience on its own.

The whole shop pulsed with original work—every wall, every booth, a voice of its own. Eternal Canvas wasn’t local. It hit from NYC to Tokyo.

The waiting area hit first—as soon as you stepped in, it was floor-to-ceiling with what felt like endless tattoo compositions. Graffiti. Expertly crafted flash designs. Biblical quotes. Faces of ancestors and lost legends. All anchored by a mural of the Brooklyn Bridge skyline, done in grayscale and bold linework by Jamarcus Colvin himself. The kind of work you’d expect to see on skin—just blown up to cover walls.

The mark of legend was unmistakable: technical, raw, sacred.

Clients waited on the plush black couches, sipping complimentary water bottles with the shop’s logo on them: a needle crossed with a crown.

Behind the front desk, a photo wall stretched from floor to ceiling—rappers, athletes, actors, esteemed businessmen, pop stars, even a few international figures. All caught mid-session or posted up after—fresh ink, tired eyes, proud faces.

Behind the front desk stood Misael “Mike” Stevens, an emerging artist in his own right who came up the hard way—sweeping floors, taking calls, scheduling appointments, cleaning equipment. He had a little personal section highlighting his work; a slim panel of sketches and healed tattoos marked his presence—clean lines, bursts of color, softer gradients. It just wasn’t his time yet.

He leaned against the counter, braids freshly redone and fuzzy goatee neatly trimmed. He was checking in a nervous couple from Spain, explaining the release form in slow, clear English, peppered with fluent Spanish when needed. "Nombre? Fecha de nacimiento?" he asked, flashing his signature smooth grin. The girl blushed. Her boyfriend didn’t notice.

In the back, K Brickz—platinum-selling rapper and hometown hero—sat shirtless in the chair while Jamarcus, known affectionately as Jay to most, added the final shading to a roaring lion’s face that completed a full sleeve on his left arm leading into a chest piece. His hand was steady, eyes calm, posture locked in—a master at work.

One of Brickz’s unreleased tracks hummed low from the shop speakers, polished and bass-heavy—sharp enough to cut through conversation, smooth enough to ride to. It sounded like the city: hungry, slick, and full of pride. The kind of track that let the whole shop know who was in the chair without him having to say a word.

"Yo, this shit gonna go crazy in the next video," Brickz said, wincing as the needle hit a tender spot.

Jay smirked but didn’t look up. "Gonna? It already is. You just late to your own skin."

Aaliyah “Lee” Wild passed behind them, carrying a tray of sterilized tools, long braids trailing behind her. "He ain't wrong, Brickz. That lion look like it got a verse ready."

The shop laughed.

Kermit leaned over his piercing station, prepping a client with septum jewelry. "Y'all better stop hyping Jay's head up. It’s already too damn big."

"That's facts," Mike chimed in from the front. "Bro got a two-year waitlist and still humble like he just started last week."

Jay finally looked up, eyes hazel-green under the overhead light, calm and sharp. "Y’all talk too much. That’s why I stay booked and you stay available."

Laughter again. No one took it personal. Jay was the star—and they all knew it. Eternal Canvas moved around him like a sun system. He was the gravity.

Brickz leaned back in the chair and laughed. "Y’all remember that night over on Flatbush? When we hit that rooftop wall with the burner pieces and the cops showed up mad early? I swear I thought that was it. I thought we was done."

Kermit looked up from his setup. "You mean the night you dipped first and left us? Yeah, I remember. You was halfway down the block while we was still packing up."

"Lies!" Brickz pointed at him, grinning. "I was making a strategic exit."

Jay chuckled. "You was gone like the Flash, my boy."

Lee smirked. "And Lye? She stayed back just to fight. Not even to cover us. Just 'cause she felt like swinging on somebody."

"That girl was chaos personified," Kerm added. "I swear she fought the cops for sport."

The room burst into laughter again.

Darius, the shop’s senior artist, was wiping down his station with his usual quiet rhythm when he chimed in. "Yeah, and guess who had to go pick her crazy ass up from central booking? Me. Ghost ran with the rest of y’all, but she stayed and threw hands."

"Yeah, He was her shadow but he wasn’t that crazy." Jay muttered, still smiling.

Smooch, a recently graduated tattoo artist from Eternal Canvas’s paid apprenticeship program, was holding court in the apprentice bay, showing Big Sal how to pull a clean line on fake skin.

“Nah, your wrist stiff. Gotta loosen up. Like when you roll a blunt or pop off a fast text. Flow it, don’t force it.”

"Bet," Big Sal said, focused, tongue slightly out as she corrected her grip.

At the next table over, Zing—real name Xing, but everyone in the shop pronounced it “Zing”—was lowkey watching Mike out of the corner of her eye while sketching a sleeve concept. Keon sat beside her, waving his pencil like a wand, mid-argument about anime rankings.

Tay, the loudest of the apprentice crew, slid past their table and threw a grin at a tourist client flipping through a design book.

"You ever seen a Brooklyn dragon? 'Cause that’s me, ma."

The glass door opened with a soft chime.

Heads turned. Even the machines seemed to quiet for a breath.

Alessandra Nappi stepped inside like she floated, not walked—long dark curls tucked beneath oversized sunglasses, designer heels clicking on the polished floor. A silk blouse hugged her frame just right, tucked into high-waisted trousers from her own luxury line–fabric hugging her curves intimately. It was just the look. She smelled expensive.

Her perfume lingered—deep amber laced with oud and spiced plum, undercut by something sharper: leather, maybe saffron. It didn’t beg attention. It demanded it. The kind of scent that made necks turn and pulses skip—like getting pulled into a room without being touched. Her blouse shimmered subtly in the light, silk clinging to the curve of her back when she turned, every movement fluid like choreography. Even the sound of her bracelets—gold, delicate—seemed intentional, part of the aura she carried. She didn’t just dress to be seen. She dressed to command.

The world famous Italian fashion designer and part-time model glanced around the room, her thick accent lacing each word like velvet. "Ciao, amores. I am... a little early, yes?"

Mike blinked. "Uh... welcome. You’re—"

"Alessandra. I have an appointment with

Jamarcus. Three o'clock. I know, I know," she waved a manicured hand. "I was too excited. I come now."

Kermit muttered under his breath, "Damn, that woman got presence."

Big Sal sat up straighter. "That's Alessandra Nappi. The Alessandra Nappi."

Zing looked up, impressed. Even Keon stopped talking.

Jay didn’t move. Still locked in on the final pass of Brickz’s shading. Laser focus. He didn’t need to look to know she was there.

"Have a seat, Alessandra. I’ll be with you in a few," Jay said calmly, eyes still on the lion’s mane. "You early. But I’m never late."

She smiled, gliding toward the lounge. "I wait. I like to watch the magic anyway."

Eternal Canvas wasn’t just the best tattoo shop in Brooklyn—it was the heart of the city’s ink game. And right now? It was beating strong.

If you felt that shift in the room—drop a comment. Eternal Canvas just opened its doors, and the ink's only getting deeper!

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters. I know it sounds critical, but I have the same problem and I hate it. Overall, it was one of the best stories I've read on here so far. I liked it better than those M...
