Summary

Summary Seventeen-year-old Iris is drowning in silence. Ever since the night her twin brother, Noah, died in a car accident, nothing feels real. Her world, once vibrant, is now painted in shades of grey. The laughter they shared, the dreams they built — gone in a flash, leaving only fragments she clings to like lifelines. Elias, 18, knows what it's like to lose someone in a way that leaves no explanation. His mother took her own life one rainy morning, and he's been haunted by her absence ever since — and the questions that came with it. At home, he's become invisible. At school, just a shadow of the boy he used to be. They meet in a grief support group for teenagers — a circle of strangers all carrying invisible scars. At first, they barely speak. But week after week, through hesitant glances and broken words, Iris and Elias begin to connect. What starts as silent understanding slowly becomes something deeper — a friendship, a breath of hope, maybe even love. But healing isn’t linear. And life doesn’t pause while you grieve. As their bond deepens, new challenges rise — secrets, fears, and unexpected twists that threaten to undo everything they’ve built. Together, they’ll have to learn that grief doesn’t have an end… it simply becomes part of who you are. Because under the same sky that once held their pain… something new might be waiting.

I didn’t wanna be here.

The room smelled like lemon-scented sadness, like someone tried to clean up the grief but forgot it stains everything. Plastic chairs in a circle. Stale cookies on a paper plate. Everyone pretending like talking would fix something.

Dad parked outside and waited — said he wouldn’t leave, but he wasn’t coming in either. “Just give it a shot, Iris,” he said. “One hour. That’s it.”

Right.

I kept my hoodie up, earbuds in (not playing anything, just for the vibe), and slumped into the farthest seat from everyone. There was an empty chair beside me. Fitting.

“Hi, everyone,” said the lady in the middle — Karen or Sharon or something –– fake smile locked in. “Let’s welcome Iris to the group.”

Nope. Hard pass.

I kept my eyes on my sneakers. Black Converse, scuffed to hell.

Then I felt it — eyes. Someone looking. I glanced up.

He was across the circle. Hoodie like mine. Eyes like he’d seen too much and couldn’t unsee it. He didn’t flinch when we made eye contact. Just looked...through me. Past me.

No intro. No smile. No judgment.

He was just...there. Like I was.

We didn’t talk. Not yet. But I noticed him. And I think he noticed me too.

To be continue ...
