Prologue
Excerpt:
“I thought you loved me. I believed you,” Max said with a broken heart.
“No… I don’t. That’s the thing, my dear… you believed. So now it’s clear that I don’t love you. We can say goodbye to each other,” I smirked at him.
Really… He believed I loved him.
Looking at his heartbroken face, I felt accomplished.
I turned to the group of my friends and said, “I won the bet… now you all have to do as I say.”
I said with triumph.
I heard something drop on the ground.
I looked back at Max to see his reaction.
His face had fallen ashen. A lone tear rolled down his cheek.
There was pin-drop silence.
Max stepped back and turned.
He left silently.
I kept looking at him until he disappeared from my sight.
